This bunny was left on our doorstep as a stray this morning.

She is not microchipped.

She is currently being looked after by our staff who are clipping off some very heavy and uncomfortable matts, but she appears otherwise well.

If you are aware of who might own this lovely rabbit, or you are able to help us find her a new home, please call the clinic.

How cool is this X-ray of Alice the Bearded Dragon?

She presented to us last year after having a little accident to her hip and tail. After several weeks of bandage changes and healing she made a great recovery. Alice’s owners say she is happily living her best Beardie life and we are glad to hear it.

Just look at those whiskers!

Did you know cats use their whiskers as a sensory tool?

Whiskers help cats navigate the world around them through vibrations. They can gauge distance, changes in air pressure and even help cats traverse with ease through dark environments.

Remember to protect your canine kid from chocolate poisoning this Easter! If your dog does get into the good stuff, here is a handy toxicity calculator which can help you decide if veterinary intervention is recommended.

If you are unsure how much your pet has eaten, it is always safer to seek veterinary assistance early!

Have a happy and safe Easter!

Meet Mashy!

Mashy was brought into the clinic last year after being found as a stray in a rail yard at Kooragang Island.

Presenting as underweight, with a severely swollen leg, a degloving injury and partially amputated toe (not to mention a fish hook! That was an incidental finding upon our initial series of X-rays), Mashy was in a little bit of a state.

Despite all of this, he was beautifully natured from the get go, which begs the question, was he always a stray?

Mashy underwent many weeks of bandage changes, antibiotics, and procedures (including an amputation of that little toe bean), as well as vaccinations, desexing and microchipping. He started opening up, becoming brighter and finding his stride.

He made fast friends with his foster carers furbabies and settled in so well, he became a permanent member of their family. It’s very comforting knowing he has a loving forever home.

Mashy’s story fortunately has a happy ending and we are very proud of his progress. We look forward to seeing him for years to come

🐇 🚨Myxomatosis cases are rising🚨🐇

We have unfortunately seen an increase in Myxomatosis patients in clinic.

We urge all rabbit owners to be vigilant and know the signs of this fatal disease.

If your rabbit is showing any signs of Myxomatosis, please call us to book in with one of our veterinarians.

**Please note, whilst there is no vaccination available in Australia for Myxomatosis, there is a vaccine available to protect your pet rabbit from Calicivirus. We stock this vaccine in clinic and are happy to field any questions you may have**

This little owl presented to us recently after being found by a member of the public.

Upon his consultation with Dr. Bethany this little guy was virtually unscathed except for an eye injury that seemed troublesome.

The green dye (Fluorescein) evident in the photos was applied to the injured eye and revealed a corneal ulcer. At the time of his visit, it was uncertain if he was vision impaired but we wanted to give him a chance to prove otherwise.

He was kept care of by a wonderful wildlife carer and after a few more visits to clinic, his eye healed beautifully.

He was recently released and we are very glad to know he is back out there being a wild little guy.

FLUTD stands for Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease.

Whilst both male and female cats can suffer from this, male cats are at greater risk of becoming blocked, which is considered a true emergency.

As male cats have longer and narrower urethras, inflammation in this tract can cause blockages which can be life threatening. Unfortunately, blockages can present unexpectedly and reoccur throughout a cat’s lifetime, so it is important to remain vigilant.

If your cat is straining to urinate, is showing signs of discomfort or blood in their urine, please call your vet immediately.

Look at Mr. Richie.

He was all smiles at his recent visit with us.

As a Fear Free clinic, we always strive to make our patients as comfortable and happy as possible.

Not every visit has to be scary; sometimes an outside consult is the way to go, other times, just visiting to get a current weight, a treat and a pat helps create positive experiences.
