Our Story
Belinda & Nicole Forshaw are sisters, who grew up with horses all of their lives, their first lot of horses their dad had bought where not very well educated, but they taught the girls the most valuable lessons, how to ride & hang on! With these horses, both Belinda & Nicole (unknowing) trained these horses to place in multiple gymkhanas & campdrafts against well trained & bred horses. At the age of 10, both Belinda & Nicole had train “un-trainable” horses to win in competitions. At this time, they didn’t know what they had done, as it was all they had known.
Belinda’s story or journey for breaking in horses, started when she broke in her first horse at the age of 13, he was a stock horse that was bred off the family station Yeldham, which is located in the Gulf of Carpentaria. She then later on broke in a couple of 2 year olds that where bred by Belinda & Nicole. The Black Mare Summer Baby had been broken / train by Belinda & Nicole went on to compete in her first campdraft (& was successful) only 2 months later. Understanding that not all horses would have the same mind set / ability to do this, Belinda started to follow her passion for horses. Belinda went to Emerald Ag College, where she studied a Cert IV in horse training / Breeding & her Diploma in Agrbusiness. Belinda got to ride / be trained by the amazing Allan Wallen, who taught Belinda all about ground work, re-educating horses, teaching horses to pick up canter leads & making sure the first interaction with a horse is the best interaction you can provide. Belinda won the horse award at the end of her training & also walked away with multiple wins / placing over the 4 shows she competed in (over 30 placings)
Belinda moved to Warwick QLD after Ag college, to a Thoroughbred Stud, where she spent her time learning all about the thoroughbred industry. Belinda spent alot of time with the foals at breeding time & alot more time with the yearlings who where in prep for the Sydney Easter Royal Sales. Belinda’s Yearlings took out the top range of yearlings at Inglis sales. Belinda’s favorite memory from her time at the stud was when the owner walked into her favorite mares paddock & the foal ran straight up to the owner for a pat. Never in her life had the owner had any of the foals do that to her. This was due to Belinda spending quality time in training / trust / connections with all the foals from day one. Belinda in the meantime while she was working at the stud, took on a few breakers & continued to break in her own horses as well. Belinda then moved onto a feedlot outside of Chinchilla, where she took on more horses for education purpose / training with cattle.
Meanwhile, Belinda & Nicole Forshaw have sold on many quality horses to the right homes, they both have pride in their horses & work on making the perfect quiet horses for all ages groups. Bother Belinda & Nicole started to buy the “problem horses” both worked on these horses to train them up to be the perfect Potato farmers horse & then sold them onto the best homes only. Forshaw Performance Horses works on re-training horses for quality & making sure the horse are safe for all age groups.
