There is a bitter southerly blowing today but Dad still got his chainsaw out and the girls and their bubs came running. We can’t let them out in the scrub all the time as it is not suitably fenced but under supervision they can enjoy the foraging. The boys (and the 3 ancient sheep) didn’t miss out either. Given that I only have half a bale of lucerne and half a bale of hay left then this is our regular Sunday activity. Can not believe in a few years we have gone from having no goats to having 18. 🤔

No puppies but we have had 7 Nigerian Dwarf babies born in the last 7 days.
Meet twins Al and Archie (Almond and Pistachio), Mack and Hazel (Macadamia and Hazelnut) and then the triplets Wally, Coco and Cash (Walnut, Coconut and Cashew). Yes definitely a nut theme. Their dad we nicknamed Chestnut and all of these are his children!

Don’t Impulse buy

In this day and age of online shopping, it is important to remember that adding a puppy to your family should not be treated in the same way as buying a fridge or the latest fashion items. You can expect that cute puppy to be with you for the next 10 - 15 years, so you need to seriously consider if you are truly ready for that level of commitment.

Ask yourself:

• Have you got the time to exercise and train a puppy? Your family pet needs interaction, exercise and mental stimulation every day – regardless of the weather.

• Do you have the money to properly feed and care for a puppy (and the adult dog it will grow into)?

• Can you afford to pay for preventative health care, grooming and regular health checks? What about unexpected vet bills should your puppy get sick?

• Do you have the facilities to house a puppy properly? Are you allowed to keep a pet where you live?

• Do you understand what the puppy will grow into? All puppies are super cute and adorable. Finding a breed that suits your lifestyle, activity level, and expectations can take a little time, but it increases the likelihood that your new pet will be your best friend!

It may be that now is not the right time to add a pet to your family – and that waiting until your situation changes is the best thing to do. That way, you will be able to truly enjoy all of the wonderful benefits that having a dog will bring.

Happy 2nd birthday to all of Ari’s 2022 puppies. This is Daisy who travelled a long way to find her family in Hawaii. They are all now living in California, where she has the added benefit of the extended family and grandchildren.

We made the decision that given the current economy and the number of dogs and puppies currently being rehomed or in shelters that we would not add to the problem with another litter of puppies in 2023. While we are looking forward to breeding our next puppy to keep, this can wait.
In the meantime our Nigerian Dwarf/Miniature goats decided spring was in the air. Pepper gave birth to a little boy, Fudge, Nutmeg gave birth to twin boys Mintie and Humbug and Vanilla Bean (Beany) gave birth to twin girls Polly Waffle (Polly) and Cherry Ripe (Cherry).

Due to unfortunate circumstances Kristy, one of our puppy owners needs to rehome their girl, Layla..

Note: Layla currently lives in Townsville, Queensland

Please be kind. Rehoming a beloved pet is never easy for anyone to do.

Layla is a sweet girl that loves cuddles, on the couch, on the chair, on the floor. Basically wherever her person is, is the best place for a cuddle. She is not fussy with her dinner, and will not complain about being overfed. She does a decent job of pre washing dishes for the dishwasher.

Will do great in an active home that enjoys the fun of outside activities and also the snuggles afterwards.

Has grown up being allowed inside, sleeping inside at night. She is usually kennelled during the day, but does not love it.

Good with other dogs but not so good with other animals (she likes to chase them!)

Comes from excellent lines, DNA tested clear of all known issues. Has had 2 heats, third due approx. mid Jan. Will be 2 in Feb 2024 Available on Limited register or on Mains to approved ANKC Registered Breeders only.

Edited to add: thank you everyone for your enquiries. Rhys has found his perfect home and will be heading off on this new adventure late January. 🥰

We are looking for a wonderful home for our retired boy, Rhys. He is a beautiful black boy and still under 3 years old (DOB 20/01/2020). However since he has now sired a few litters for us and we have kept two of his pups, it is time for him to find that wonderful forever home.

We call him the “happy chap” as he is such an easy going loving boy. He never jumps up at us and when he wants attention he will come over and wait patiently (with that poodle look) or will gently rest his head on your lap. Our house is his home and he sleeps on his bed in our bedroom. He never marks in the house, is crate trained and walks on a lead. However he is not good at retrieving. He is happy to pick toys up but won’t bring them back and will run circles around you if he thinks you might take them away from him.

He is used to being around other mature male dogs, cats, chickens and goats. He shows no interest in the goats and chickens although they are always on the other side of a fence. 🤪

Rhys will be desexed before going to his new home. He is up to date with his vaccinations, flea/tick prevention and worming. He has been DNA tested and is clear of all testable diseases. He has had some issues with an eye infection as he got a staph infection that was hard to clear but we now appear to be on top of this.

We will be very selective of the home he will go to and would prefer he remain in Tasmania. Any prospective owners would need to meet us and Rhys before we agree to place him in a new home.

On the weekend our gorgeous little parti girl, Maggie May, headed off to her forever home, where she is being trained as a therapy dog. She got her first gig today (booked in advance of her arrival) and seems to have taken to it like a duck to water. 🥰

So it has been a very busy week for us here at Caerwyn. Niamh had her puppies. 2 beautiful girls and a boy; One parti girl, one black girl and one black boy but all three may be blue. We then had further additions to the family with Nutmeg giving birth to a gorgeous sable and white boy…another parti 🙂.

Daisy is enjoying her new life in a pet home in Hawaii and we just received this wonderful email. We really feel we are doing the right thing when we get this type of response from new owners.

“I have had dogs my entire life, but I have never experienced such a sweet, loving , trusting animal. Your breeding and care is out of this world. I never thought any dog could fill the space that our sweet Mabel left. It only took minutes for this little Daisy to erase any pain left from Mabe’s passing. She is so special. She has already paid for herself a hundred times over and it’s only day five. We can not thank you enough from the bottom of our hearts.”

Many breeders may like to claim they never breed for the “pet market” and only breed to place dogs in breeder or show homes. However our priority is to find the most perfect home for our pups and we would always choose the perfect pet home over a not so perfect breeder or show home. ❤️

Just wanted to share this memory. On the 7th May 2018 our gorgeous Callie gave birth to 10 beautiful cream, apricot and red puppies. Callie is now enjoying her retirement in Hervey Bay and lives with my daughter (who is not retired as she has to work in order to keep Callie in the luxury to which she has become accustomed. 😂)

Hi, Griff here…
Just want to wish all my brudders and sisters a happy 1st birthday. Look at that picture I can’t believe we were all that small.

I am spending the day with my hooman mudder and the rest of my pack. My hooman dad is in Melbn for a week for work.

I do also have to put up with my pesky little sisters and brudder by another mudder. The are STILL here. 😡 Georgia is only staying with us for another week and Daisy is off to Hawaii in 2 weeks but Wally has yet to find his forever hooman. Poor boy 😞

So I got some special treats today because my hooman mudder says it was a special day. To me it’s just the same as any other day. I run around really fast (although Bella can always outrun me). I try to c**k my leg but end up peeing on my front legs and then I go and have a poo right at the door or on the path near the door just to annoy my hooman mudder. 😂😂😂

Every morning Daisy our little apricot puppy does a morning perimeter check of the house yard with her great grandfather, Toby (our apricot boy). They head to the chickens to say hello (I’m sure Toby is really looking for dinner. 😡) and then they head over to the goats to say good morning.
The other dogs and pups (all blue or black) stay with me. 🤷
