What a tragic circumstance for this Pelican today at Woollamia. A large fish hook was preventing its beak from opening whatsoever. 😆

It was the pelicans lucky day when three of us trained rescuers arrived to assist. 🙏😎❤️

We picked up this young male swamp wallaby from Nowra Vet Hospital this morning. Apparently, he was trying to get into the ocean at Crookhave heads. Hopefully, he is going better when the sedation wears off ☝️☝️❤️

We are presently working hard at finding a corporate sponsor or Angel donor to raise $450k to help us save our refuge and continue our work. Help us buy the land and protect it. The facilities on this land are imperative for us to keep up the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife we get called to assist in the local area. We have a deadline of May 26 this year and if we have no solution, sadly we have to make the difficult call.

In the meantime, please consider contributing to the regular costs of looking after wildlife in care here at Mudgeroo and Thankyou in advance for sharing our post as we seek support and solutions to Save Mudgeroo Https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-mudgeroo-emu-farm-and-animal-rescue? We are under the license of Widlife Rescue south coast Inc and are authorised to care for the native wildlife under our care.

The Summer 2025 edition of the BirdLife Shoalhaven e-magazine has just been uploaded to the BLS website. Departing President Rob Dunn reports on the achievements of the past decade; there are excellent articles on Pied Oystercatchers and Ospreys and more; and the photographs - as usual - are superb!

A massive male Eastern grey kangaroo has been eating on our front lawn all day. Hopefully he makes it into our property or out across the road in safety tonight. Unlike the Eastern grey kangaroo mum with a Joey At foot that has been hit on Gardner rd tonight. I wish people would slow down around here, I really do. That is the only way our wildlife stand a chance 😢😆😢

This would be so tragic. We know what it’s like, with our local bush decimated all around Nowra, Cambewarra & Jervis Bay as the urban sprawl, called development, spreads unabated. Hideous, irreversible destruction without balance for the natural ecosystems and wildlife, most people move to be here, for. 😢😢☝️☝️

Guess who's back! Welcome home, T 7812 👋

Green turtle, T 7812 was first identified and tagged in 1984, and this year marks the 40th anniversary since Rangers first encountered her! You can imagine their surprise and excitement when, on a recent trip to Raine Island National Park (Scientific), our Rangers spotted T 7812 making tracks on the island!

It's estimated that she is at least 70 years old (if not older!). This nesting season, she is expected to lay an average of 7 clutches, which amounts to around 700 eggs! Since she was first observed 40 years ago, it is estimated that she has laid over 5,000 eggs! 😮

🐢 Raine Island supports the world’s largest remaining green turtle nesting population
🐢Turtles come back to the region to lay their eggs where they were born
🐦 The island is also the most important seabird rookery in the
🐦 Eighty-four bird species have been recorded at Raine Island and 16 species are known to breed on the island

The rescue today was…..
a beautiful little girl, that was soooooo lucky to be found today.

In the pouring rain, dozens, if not hundreds, of cars had driven past her dead mother on the side of the highway in a residential area between Milton and Ulladulla. Not one person had stopped all morning to check her pouch! So so sad. But at 11am, a WRSC carer did. In the pouring rain, the lovely lady stopped. She called another carer for assistance and they rescued the lucky little girl.

This is the reason reason we say, over and over, please STOP and check deceased wildlife. Marsupial babies are often alive and will die in due course if they are not rescued out of the rain, the dangerous location and will starve to death slowly otherwise. Thank goodness she was found 🙏

Saturday’s are for working here! Phil had finished the drain and I thought maybe, we may just get some couple or family time this weekend, before Phil goes back to his other work on Monday! That was until the tree split!

While Phil chained sawed all morning, in the pouring rain, Faye Adie cared for all the wombats in care in the rain as well as her two babies. Legends. Both wet, hard working Volunteer legends! While I went off to a rescue . 🙏❤️🥰
