🐰 ATTENTION: RABBIT OWNERS – CALICIVIRUS RELEASE 🐰

We have been alerted a wild rabbit control program is scheduled for Sydney and Central coast in early March 2025. This will include the release of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV-K5), a rabbit Calicivirus.

This virus spreads quickly and is highly fatal, posing a serious risk to unvaccinated rabbits. It is transmitted by insects (fleas, flies), direct contact, and even predator droppings (cats, dogs, foxes).

How to protect your rabbit?

• Ensure their vaccinations are up to date.

• Keep rabbits indoors as much as possible.

• Use fly screens to help reduce exposure.

* For best protection rabbit should be vaccinated prior to 1 March 2025*

📞 Call us on (02) 4959 5766 for more information or to schedule a vaccination.

Do You Know How Far Your Cat Roams? 🐈‍⬛

Many cat owners are surprised to learn just how far their furry friends wander when allowed outside! This video gives a fascinating insight into the secret lives of outdoor cats. Exploring further than we think, often into risky situations.

While outdoor adventures may seem fun, roaming comes with serious dangers:

Traffic Accidents – Cats have little road sense and are at high risk of being hit by cars.

Injuries & Fights – Territorial disputes with other cats can lead to injuries, abscesses, and disease transmission.

Predators & Poisoning – Snakes, dogs, and even toxic plants or chemicals pose threats.

Disease & Parasites – Outdoor cats are more likely to catch diseases like FIV and contract fleas, ticks, and worms.

Impact on Wildlife – Cats are natural hunters and can have a devastating effect on our local wildlife populations.

If you want to keep your cat safe while still giving them outdoor time, consider secure enclosures or leash training. Let’s keep our feline friends happy and protected! ❤️🐾

Keeping Your Pets Cool and Safe! 🌞

As the temperatures rise, it’s important to take extra care of our furry companions. Here are some simple yet essential tips to help your pets enjoy summer safely:

Pick Cooler Playtimes & Seek out Shade 🌳
- Plan walks or play sessions early in the morning or late in the evening when the heat has eased. Whether at the park or in your backyard, opt for shady areas with soft, cool ground where your pet can relax.

Protect Those Paws 🐾
- Before heading out, test the pavement. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!

Be Snake Aware 🐍
- Warmer weather means more snake activity. Keep dogs on a lead in bushy areas to reduce the risk of encounters.

Hydration is Key 💧
- Always provide fresh, clean water for your pets at home and on the go. A collapsible water bowl can be a lifesaver on walks.

Know Your Pet’s Needs
- Some pets, like brachycephalic, older dogs, or those with thick coats, are more prone to heat stress. Consider their limits before outdoor activities.

Heatstroke: 🚨
Overheating can happen quickly and is life threatening. Be alert for:
- Heavy panting or excessive drooling
- Bright red gums and tongue
- Weakness or wobbliness
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Disorientation or collapse

If you notice these signs, contact the clinic immediately.

Let’s make this summer safe and enjoyable for everyone, including our four legged friends! 🌞

🐾🎄 A festive message from Ruby to all our wonderful clients this Christmas season:

“As we celebrate Christmas and New Year period, it’s important to keep your furry family members safe and stress free. Here are my holiday tips:

⭐️ Ensure any gaps or weak spots in fencing are repaired, or bring your pets inside if you can.

⭐️ Make sure your contact details are up to date with your local council and NSW Pet Registry.

⭐️ Keep an ID tag on their collar with your current contact details.

⭐️ Chat to your vet if your pet struggles with stress during noisy events, fireworks, or storms – there are many ways we can help manage their anxiety.

⭐️ Keep festive foods, like chocolate, raisins, and cooked bones, out of reach of curious paws.

⭐️ Secure your decorations, including tinsel and ornaments, to prevent accidental ingestion.”

Wishing you and your furry friends a safe, happy, and stress-free holiday season! 🎉🐶

Looking for a new squeaky addition to join your family?

Meet Zuma and Chase! 🤍

This handsome pair were found dumped at a local park last week.
Thanks to some TLC and lots of cuddles the twins are now ready to find their furrever home together. 🏡

Like all Guinea pigs, the boys squeak and run when being caught, but once in your arms and lap they will soak up the cuddles. 🥰

They are currently at Nurse Amy’s house lapping up love with small kids and are coping really well.

They come with veggies, oaten hay, piggy pellets and a glass water bottle, with only a small adoption fee.

If you are interested in adopting and meeting the twins please give us a call.
