Our pets get heatstroke too 🥵please don’t leave them outside ☀️ 🐶

Yesterday's heat was brutal. Our team sadly treated several patients affected by the extreme temperatures, some critical. 🥵

Today's temperatures will be similarly extreme, putting our furry and feathered friends at risk.🌡

To keep them safe:
- Please keep ALL pets INSIDE today, ideally in air-conditioning or under a cooling fan. ❄️
- Ensure your pets have free access to cool water at all times
- Avoid ALL exercise or time at the beach during the hottest parts of the day. Remember that sand and concrete retains heat and may burn paws. 🔥 🐾
- Consider cooling treats for enrichment such as frozen treats in kongs or lickimats.
- Breeds with short faces such as bulldogs, boxers, pugs and cavalier spaniels are especially at risk. Elderly and overweight pets are also at higher risk.
- Small pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs and birds are similarly highly susceptible and should be kept INSIDE.
- Leave some water outside for wildlife to drink and bathe in.

Thank you for all the beautiful wishes, messages, cards and gifts. I feel so humbled and blessed 🙏 There were a few complications and bumps in the road with my surgery but I am feeling stronger and healthier everyday and can not wait to be back doing what I love ✂️🐶 I look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks ❤️

Grooming Update...

Due to a recent medical issue, I will be unable to groom from the
20th APRIL - 19th JUNE 2023.

This has come as a shock and I am trying my best to reschedule upcoming appointments.

I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and can assure everyone that I WILL definitely be back doing what I love very very soon.

Looking forward to seeing all my fur-friends ( all be it a bit a bit hairier than normal 😄) when I am feeling better 🐶 ❤️

Please be careful in this heat ☀️. Heat stroke is real and can happen very easily and quickly especially in short nose breeds eg. Frenchies, Pugs, boxers and terriers 🐶

Ensure your Tick prevention is upto date and check your dog daily paying attention to the ears, mouth, toes, legs, tail and eye lids 👀🙏🏽

TICK ALERT!
We have had TEN patients present to the clinic over the last fortnight with paralysis ticks!

Please make sure your pets are on Tick prevention. You can call the clinic to discuss what prevention is best suited to your pet.

If you do find a tick, please call the clinic straight away. It can take up to 3 days after the Tick is removed for signs of paralysis to show but early treatment gives your pet the best chance of survival.

Signs of Tick paralysis
👉 wobbly legs/ trouble walking
👉vomiting or retching
👉coughing
👉change in meow or bark
👉trouble breathing
👉lethargic
