Stella did a thing this morning…..
Gained her last qualifier in Trick Dog Starters, adding another title to her name ✨👏

Part 2 ~ Macedon Ranges ⛰️
Yesterday we took part in the ANKC Backpacking Event held by the Alaskan Malamute Club of Victoria at Mt Macedon. It was a great, well organised event and involved some decent hiking! We hiked 16.5km with an acsent / descent of 479km! Our legs definitely felt it 😆

Carrying 15% of her body weight
Both dogs done extremely well carrying their weighted backpacks and walking with a group of other dogs.
Belle was the best helper. I’m super grateful for her coming along to help out with the dogs and hiking with us 🤍
The dogs really enjoyed a massage after our hike and then today we made the trip home totalling a 1500km round trip! We always make the most of our trips away so today we stopped at The Big Strawberry and a nice little place for lunch and a milkshake 🥤🌯
It’s been a lovely few days away together! Hiking, enjoying good food, seeing lots of wildlife and exploring with the dogs. Perfect 👌🐾

Belle and I took Sage and Stella exploring this morning at Mt Macedon. Forest Glade Gardens was beautiful. We climbed up and down lots of stairs! Then we had lunch at Hanging Rock Cafe before taking a walk around Hanging Rock. Unfortunately we didn’t get a great view but the walk was nice.

Sage has been learning to carry a backpack! We did the 5.5km walk around Forbes Lake this morning and for the first time I actually took my time to enjoy the scenery! We stopped and looked at the sculptures and the paintings. We even watched the ducks for a little while. It was a nice Sunday stroll 🐾

The last race of the season!

A massive shout out to the Canberra Sled Dog Club for hosting a fantastic weekend of doing exactly what we love! The tracks were fun and there was such a positive and happy vibe!

Our little superstar Sage ran in the 1 Dog Open class and placed ~
🥈 Overall
🥇 Siberian Team
She has improved all season and finished the season with an average speed of 22.27km/hr and a max speed of 36km/hr!
Some kind words from Donna meant a lot to me about our trail etiquette and easy passing during the race. I pride myself in good sportsmanship on and off the track so I was very humbled for Donna to acknowledge that.

Stella had a new racing buddy and ran with River in the 2 Dog Touring class. Nicknamed ‘Mumma Bear Racing’ they enjoyed having a run together even though they were a little over it by heat 2!

Thank you to those who helped me with the caravan and getting to the start line. I really appreciate it 🙏

Although it’s a little sad the race season is over I can’t help but think of how proud I am of Sage and what she’s achieved this season as a yearling. We put A LOT of time and effort towards ground work as a puppy, training and nutrition, and it really showed. Shes beyond impressed me and I can’t wait to see what the next few years hold for us.
Shes just such a good girl 🤍🧡

It’s been fun racing in the 1 dog class with some great competition. It’s kept me fit at least 🤣
I’ve enjoyed catching up with those I don’t see often, and our little sledding groups camp fire chats filled with good times, laughs and unfortunately a bit too much wind!! Exactly how it should be (minus the wind)!!

Let’s hope summer goes quickly 🤞

✨ The Siberian Husky Club of Vic ANKC Race
✨ Knowsley Forest

What a weekend! There were so many great moments! Except maybe when I couldn’t figure out a smart lock to open a door 🤣

Belle came to her first ever race! She took Stella in Canicross along with Havana who took Monkey. It was the best seeing the ‘retired’ dogs get so excited and the girls taking part in the event. Belle done awesome and came 🥈 in Canicross both days. Super proud 🤍

In 1 Dog Open Sage came 🥈in a very competitive class! She was closely followed by her brother Romeo who came 🥉Congratulations Darryl!
I thoroughly enjoyed racing on a new track, in a forest with trees, and without wind! The amazing hand crafted trophy was a lovely bonus.
Once again Sage was exceptional with an overall average speed of 25.5km/hr.

Funniest moment was racing around a corner and hearing ‘Go Sammy’ from above! Look up and there’s James Hipwell (the creep in the tree) as a corner marshal 🤣 it definitely startled me!!

A huge thank you to Courtney and West for all your effort to organise the race. The 1200km road trip was worth it! It was such a great atmosphere with great company. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people, catching up around the campfire, and most importantly spending the weekend with Belle ✨

Last weekend we attended the Hypo Premium Sled Dog Sprint at Wingello Forest.

It was my first trip in the Basestation without Luke and wasn’t it a test! We had gale force winds all weekend, along with sleet and very little sleep! Sage and Stella were even allowed to sleep inside the van!!
My mum came along for the first time in 2 years and we spent most of our time in the caravan but it was worth it for the quality time together.

Sage did it again in 1 Dog Open!

4th Overall.
The trail was extremely hard with a headwind of approx. 40km/hr and uphill climbs! It wasn’t an easy task! To say I’m proud of her achievements so far and her work ethic would be an understatement.

A massive shoutout to the NSW Siberian Express All Breeds Sled Dog Club committee for still managing a successful race weekend in such horrible conditions. You done a fantastic job! Im looking forward to Porky Buns (it was delicious), the communal fire with great company, and hopefully much better weather next year ✨

Last weekend we went to the Dinner Plains Sled Dog Sprint for our first snow race…. But unfortunately there was no snow ☃️

We still had a great time away and enjoyed catching up with friends!

The committee done a fantastic job and re-organised the race which allowed us to run a dry land race. The track wasn’t easy! There were hills, grass, ice and head on passing. Challenging but beautiful 🤍

As always, Rogue and Stella had fun racing together in the 2 dog class!
Sage got to experience another race event. She tried to eat the snow and ice, played in the mud, and had a great time catching up with her family!

Hopefully next time we get to experience the snow!
