And just like he’s done it a million times before. Ride 3 he is out and poking about the arena.
The round yard serves us well for building foundations and offering a controlled area for learning ground work but as soon as we have the ability to walk, trot and canter under saddle with a left, right and a stop, then we head out to explore and challenge their mind to prevent boredom and sourness creeping in that have the potential to create bad habits and undesirable behaviour.
Gundale Ivory Rose had a day playing with cattle yesterday. This girl is absolutely bred to do this and her natural ability really shows.
Thanks to Roylance Acres for letting us come chase your cattle!

What’s a gelding gotta do to find his new rider?
Olly-man is still here putting up with Jay’s shenanigans and being a superstar.
A fun day yesterday, exploring the glasshouse mountains with some good mates!
A spot of rain here and there, lots of puddles, some slippery sections, a few motorbikes, didn’t stop us from having a good laugh for 2.5hours!
Pleasure or trail riding doesn’t get enough credit in the horse world.
The obstacles that a safe trail horse can (and will!) come across while traveling through the countryside is a lot scarier then what an arena horse sees!
But this is why we do what we do.
A chance to expose the horses and help them process these challenges safely and under a confident rider, in turn making them a confident horse, ready for their owner to jump on and explore their world.
Technically, these two fillies should be exactly the same. Same parents, same exposure, same life, same “wild”.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth!
Ocean and Breeze are settling into their new version of life now and slowly being introduced to this new concept of people!
Ocean, the first filly, is seen warming up almost immediately. She wants to be part of something, she’s willing, she’s asking “what next?”, she’s engaging and wanting to be closer. There is still fear, the whole predator/prey thing can’t be ignored, but she’s drawn in, intrigued. A work around the yard and she was facing up, closing in and coming to investigate.
Breeze, well she’s not quite the “easy, breezy, beautiful covergirl” like her sister. Noticeably more anxious and high strung, she has even dropped off condition, purely from the stress of this new environment. The same time frame as Ocean but yet all that was achieved was a few face ups, after her bluffing to strike and lining up to kick. It’s amazing how “pressure” to one horse is tiny but overwhelming for the next.
And this is exactly why timeframes are non existent when it comes to horse training.
Young thoroughbred filly having her first go in long reins. True professional like she had done it a hundred times before.
Corey from Peak Pulse Therapy visited the farm today to give treatments to a few clients horses and our own.
Pulse Therapy for horses uses magnetic energy and has great health benefits, including faster muscle repair and increased recovery rate for injuries. It also makes them feel super chilled out and relaxed. A few happy, sleepy ponies were about this afternoon, that’s for sure!
Thanks Corey for doing a great job with them!
If you are interested in trying out Pulse Therapy then get intouch with Corey McConnell
Jodi from Centered Equines visited us today and worked her magic on our personal horses.
Equine CranioSacral Therapy has kept so many of ours and client’s horses happy and healthy at the farm.
Jodi has worked with us many times to help overcome behavioural issues caused from tension, discomfort and pain within the horse’s body.
If you’re feeling like something just doesn’t feel quite right with your horse, speak with Jodi about treatments.

Over the weekend we said goodbye to Miss Sundae and Hollywood Daytona.
Miss Sundae is heading to Warwick QLD to get put to work and start her campdrafting career.
Hollywood Daytona is heading out to Gayndah QLD to become a family allrounder. (There’s already arguments about which kid gets to “own” him)
Super happy to be able to help find perfect homes for these two superstars!
What is “feel”?
Does your horse follow it?
Do you understand how to use it?
This little 4yo Heritage Stock Horse colt has spent the better part of his 4 years untouched.
Here he is on day 1 showing off the sense of feel.
“Feel” can be described as body language with energy, direction and intention. And really, it’s how horses communicate with each other.
There’s no tension or physical pressure but yet he is able to read and respond to what is being asked of him… soften, disengage, move with me, move away from me.
A key moment you may notice at the end is when Jay uses feel vs touch. Since this colt hasn’t had much handling, his comfort range sits more into what language he understands being a horse (feel, energy, vibe) vs what people want to use (grab, touch, physical) being logical beings.
Admittedly, this is the end of his lesson, it didn’t start out this way.
The first 15minutes of the colts energy was chaotic, his flee instincts were blinding his ability to use his brain. So naturally, Jay needed to create a louder “feel” for him to see Jay as a trustworthy source of information, a leader, instead of something out to get him.
Jay’s positions, timing, energy, direction, firmness and softness were key to getting the penny to drop. And all that was needed is a halter and lead.
It’s not something everyone can do or understand. Not even something teachable by just telling you about it. Years of practise, experiences, failure and success in doing it and most importantly, horses. Horses are the greatest teachers. They will be the first ones to tell you that you’re doing something wrong and the moment you’ve got it right.
We are excited to see this little guy’s progress over the next couple months.

Due to unforeseen financial circumstances out of the owner’s control, one of our favourites “Ted” is back with us to find his forever home.
• Do you want a chilled out, trail horse?
• Would you like an educated mount that is responsive to hands, leg and seat?
• Wish you had a horse that had all the moves already established?
• What about a horse that self loads on the float?
• Would love a horse that’s been there and done that?
Well….
Haaaaave you met Ted?
Ted is a stockhorse-type, 15hh, 12yr old gelding who ticks all those boxes.
He has done polocrosse, campdrafting, mustering, cattle work and trail riding.
Established rollbacks, backup, flying changes and a solid stop.
Fuss-free type who is happy to do a job or hang around getting spoilt.
Would suit a competitive teenager, competent/confident adult or add him to your team of experienced competition horses.
Before anyone asks…. He is branded but unfortunately, no registration or breeding has been located on him so far.
Ted is quiet enough to handle beginner riders/handlers and kids but is educated to suit competent riders only.
Please contact us for viewings.

We can’t believe this guy is still available!
But we know why.
We were too honest.
“He’s stubborn.”
The thing is, we have a duty of care to disclose the details about any behaviour we witness to any potential buyers because horses are serious!
A good horse can do as much harm as a bad horse, obviously harm can come in many variations.
Horse buying really is weighing up the pros and cons because in reality…
NO HORSE IS PERFECT.
There will always be something we have to make allowances for, because they are a living animal with minds, emotions, experiences and instincts of their own. If they were robots, beginners could be winning the olympics!
So even though this guy is stubborn, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have potential to be your best partner in crime. I mean look at what he can do!
It does mean though, we are selective with potential buyers and need to witness them interacting and handling him before allowing him to be sold. It also means, home is more important than money. 😉
Cracking filly by Xtravagant having her second drive this morning, not long until she is ready for her first ride. 🏇🏇
