As dogs enter their senior years, it’s crucial to adjust their environment to ensure their comfort and well-being. What was once easy for them might now pose challenges.
Here are some changes I’ve made to support my two senior Greyhounds:
🌟 Raised Food Bowls
Elevating food bowls can significantly benefit senior dogs, especially larger breeds. This simple adjustment reduces the strain on their joints, making mealtime more comfortable. I use a pot plant holder that perfectly fits their bowls.
🌟 Ramps
Many senior dogs struggle with stairs and steps, particularly if they have weakened hind legs. Installing ramps can make it easier for them to enter and exit your home without difficulty. I use one from Kmart but there are many options available.
🌟 Floor Rugs/Mats
Aging dogs often lose muscle strength and coordination, making slippery surfaces harder to navigate. Placing rugs or mats on floorboards and tiles helps them move around with ease and prevents slips.
🌟 Paw Grips
Paw grips have made a noticeable difference for my senior Greyhound on slippery floors. I use Paw Protectors from @dogfriendlyco , which provide extra traction and confidence.
Making these small adjustments can greatly enhance the quality of life for your senior dogs, ensuring they stay comfortable and happy in their golden years 🐾 🐶
