North Geelong Veterinary Clinic

North Geelong Veterinary Clinic Where we love your friends, just like you do! North Geelong Veterinary Clinic has been treating Geelong pets for more than 26 years.

The clinic used to be a BP Service Station and was converted to a Veterinary Clinic by well-known Geelong Football Club player, Rod Blake. The clinic was taken over by Sally Adams up until 2009 when Geelong local Sally Upham bought it and renovated it. In 2014 Chloe McGillivray, Bryan Benshoof and Nev Hooper took over and are continually trying to improve and grow the clinic. Many loyal clients ha

ve been bringing their pets to us ever since the clinic first opened its doors as they know their pets are in such great hands. The staff at North Geelong Vet Clinic are passionate about their jobs and they will love your pets, just like you do. They are committed to providing your pets with the highest standard in veterinary care and to ensuring that your pets live a healthy and pain-free life. The staff are also dedicated to supporting, educating and helping you to be the very best owner that you can be. The more educated you are, the more illnesses that can be prevented for your pet. The clinic underwent a complete transformation recently to include state of the art equipment and modern facilities to ensure that the North Geelong Vet Clinic keeps up with the advances in technology and that your pets are treated using the highest quality methods.

Dental procedures at NGVC 🦷

A dental suite with up-to-date facilities was very important to us when designing our purpose built clinic - especially to Dr Bryan, our dental whiz!
All dental procedures include full mouth x-rays (as seen here), along with a scale and polish of all the teeth 🧡

HomeSafeID microchips ⚠️

According to the HomeSafeID website, they are likely to go offline.

What does this mean? Any pet with a HomeSafeID registered microchip would no longer have searchable microchip details. If they were to become lost, there would be no way to verify owner details.

As of yesterday, the HomeSafeID website states that “Agriculture Australia has formally requested a copy of all Victorian records and are working to identify another registry to take over the records.”
If your pet has a HomeSafeID microchip, we recommend staying updated on the status of said microchip via the HomeSafeID website 🧡

Frankie’s before and after 🦷

This sweet girl presented with two broken teeth. One was extracted, as it had a complicated crown fracture along with pulp exposure. But Dr Bryan was able to repair the other with a composite crown. Some teeth can be saved! 🧡

MEET THE TEAM: Nurse Ashleigh - Cert IV Veterinary Nurse
Nurse Ashleigh started nursing in 2007, where she worked in busy central Auckland clinics. Originally from New Zealand, Ash moved to Australia in 2018 and joined the NGVC team in 2020. Her favourite parts of nursing are consulting with clients and patients, with a soft spot for older pets. She also has a keen interest in nutrition and weight loss.
When she’s not working, Ash enjoys cheese and wine dates with friends and exploring the best foodie spots. She loves spending time with her family, especially her nephew, and her DMH, Maximus.
“I love that as vet nurses we are a jack of all trades, but most importantly we are advocates for our patients.” 🧡

A**l glands 💩

Ever wondered what that stinky, fishy smell is? It’s likely your dog’s a**l glands!
A**l glands are two small glands just inside the a**s, which are commonly emptied during normal defecation. Some dogs however are unable to empty their glands on their own.

If your dog is licking or scooting, they probably need their glands expressing. This is something that veterinary staff can perform, so don’t worry! 🧡

MEET THE TEAM: Nurse Natalie - Cert IV Veterinary Nurse
Nurse Natalie has been nursing since 2017 and joined the NGVC team towards the end of 2019. Her favourite parts of nursing are assisting with surgery and caring for hospitalised patients. With a love for anything with a squishy face, you can also find Nat loving on our squishier patients.
When she’s not at work, Nat loves playing footy, running, coffee dates with friends and watching her beloved Geelong Cats.
Originally born in England, Nat and her family moved to Aus when she was three-years-old, where she has created her own family with her husband, two gorgeous children, their border collies and pugs.
“It’s a very rewarding job being able to play a big part in helping animals get better. No two days are ever the same.” 🧡
