🐾 🚨 Exciting News! We're Extending Our Hours! 🚨🐾

We know life gets busy, so we’re extending our hours to give you more flexibility! We’re thrilled to announce that starting this Saturday, January 25th, Belmont Veterinary Centre will be open on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM!

📅 Plan ahead and book your appointments online,
☎️ Call us on the day if your pet needs urgent care, we’ll be here to help in emergency situations
🚶🏼‍♀️🐾 Walk, hop or run in to pick up pet food and medications

We plan to extend these hours as demand grows, so stay tuned for updates!

🐾 Welcome Dr. Emily, to the Belmont Vet Centre team! 🎉

Dr. Emily brings a wealth of experience in both small and large animals, with a special passion for pocket pets—especially rabbits and ferrets! 🐰🐾 She has pursued further studies in clinical pathology, rabbit anaesthesia, and medical oncology, making her a fantastic addition to our clinic. Outside of work, she loves gardening, horse riding, and adventures with her two daughters. 🌿🐴

Did you know your pet’s teeth need care too? 🦷

Dental health is just as important for pets as it is for us, but it’s something many pet owners overlook. Without proper care, plaque and tartar can build up, leading to gum disease, tooth loss, and even more serious health problems like heart or kidney disease.

Signs your pet might need a dental check-up ⬇️

◾️ Bad breath (it’s not just “doggy breath”!)
◾️ Yellow or brown tartar on their teeth
◾️ Red or swollen gums
◾️ Difficulty eating or chewing
◾️ Pawing at their mouth or drooling more than usual

Regular check-ups and cleanings can prevent painful infections and keep your pet healthy and happy. Just like with people, prevention is key!

🎄🐾 Dear Belmont Veterinary Centre Family,
As the holiday season fast approaches, a reminder we are closed on the upcoming public holidays:
🎅 Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25th),
🎄 Boxing Day (Thursday, December 26th), and
🎉 New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1st)

We are open today (Christmas eve) until 6.30pm but there will be no Vet in clinic after 4pm. We have plenty of appointment availability left before 4pm, so give us a call if you pet needs to be seen!

To ensure your furry friends have everything they need during your holidays, remember to call ahead to order medications & prescription diets before you run out! This will help us make sure your pets are well-stocked throughout the holiday period. 🎄🐾

Summer is right around the corner! Make sure your pets stay cool and safe with these heat safety tips:

☀️ Avoid walking dogs during peak heat – Early mornings or late evenings are best.
💦 Provide lots of fresh water – Multiple sources in different locations!
☂️ Create cool resting spots – Use fans, cooling mats and provide shaded areas if you can't keep your pets indoors.
🚗 Never leave pets in the car – Even a few minutes can be life-threatening.
🥵 Know the signs of heatstroke – Panting, struggling to breathe, drooling, vomiting and lethargy are all red flags!

If you notice any signs of heat stress, contact us immediately or go straight to Animal Emergency for treatment 🐶🐾
