Our veterinarians, Dr Jon O'Connor and Dr Polly O'Brien are ably supported by our nursing team Sharon, Maddi, Cassie and groomer Kerry. Aberdeen St Veterinary Clinic offers full surgical, medical, dental and x-ray facilities, for all companion animals from cats and dogs to rabbits and guinea pigs. In addition Kerry provides professional grooming and hydrobathing services every Monday and Wednesday to suit your needs.

❗️❗️IMPORTANT MICROCHIP UPDATE❗️❗️

A microchip company called Home safe ID is no longer operating. This means if your pets Microchip details have been registered with them, they will have been lost.

If your pet has been registered with them, your microchip needs to be transferred to a new registry.

To find out where your pets microchip is registered to – go to www.petaddress.com.au. If unsure of your pets Microchip number, bring them in and a nurse can scan them and look up the details for you.

It is important that your microchip details are updated. If your pet was to go missing, your pet can then be tracked back to you.

Home Safe ID is not commonly used in Victoria – however there is still a chance your pet is registered with this company and is absolutely worth checking.

MEET THE TEAM: Dr So 🩺 (Our clinic cat Dotti who is featured in this photo, has taken a liking to Dr So. we are a bit jealous!!)

Dr So has recently joined our clinic full time! Here are some things about Dr So!

Role: Veterinarian

What pets do you have? 2 cats, a Tonkinese named Mocha and a Domestic short hair rescue named Cappuccino. Also a few plants! 🐱🐱🌱

What do you love most about what you do? To be able to help owners and their pets. I am interested in animal welfare and fear free approach in vet clinics.

Tell us something about you: I graduated vet science in 2008. Since then I have worked in both Sydney and Melbourne. I have spent most of my career working in emergency which is when I obtained extra qualifications in emergency and critical care.
Outside of work I enjoy coffee, Japanese food and pottery. 🐶🐾🪴

Meet the team!

If you have been into clinic in the past few months you may have met our new trainee Nurse (soon to be qualified VERY soon) Nyel!

Here is a bit about Nyel:

Role: Kennel hand + Vet Nurse in training.

When did you join Aberdeen Veterinary Clinic? June 6th, 2024.

What pets do you have/ want? I dog sit frequently as we are unable to commit hours to a full time pet. But the moment we can, our own pup, bearded dragon and other creatures are on the cards! 🐶

What do you love most about what you do? I would like to say I love working with animals because they don't judge, however I have met a cat or two that certainly have and I love them for it too!

Tell us something about yourself: I grew up in the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada. I have enjoyed volunteering at Mt Rothwell and have taken a small break to make time for work and study. I have a particular passion for native flora and fauna. I was in hospitality and wine industry for many years, so naturally my favourite way to wind down on a Friday is with a glass. 🌿🍂

Today is International Vet Nurse Day!

Today is the day that we can all take the time to appreciate the behind the scenes of Veterinary Clinics. Vet Nurses are a crucial part of taking care of your pets while in clinic.

At Aberdeen Veterinary Clinic we have four amazing, dedicated and compassionate Vet Nurses who work so hard everyday to ensure the best care and environment is provided to your loved pets. Nurses not only look after your pets but also do their very best to meet the needs of their clients by sharing their love, care and knowledge of animals.

Don't forget to thank your vet nurses for the lovely work they do and let them know they are appreciated! 🩺🐶🐾🥰🐱❤

Have you ever keen a baby kangaroo up close? 🥰
Say hello to this little joey who was brought into clinic recently! He had been found abandoned after falling out of his mothers pouch so was brought into see us. We were able to determine that the rough age was 5-6 months by measuring the length of its head, foot and tail! Another indicator of his age was that he had no fur yet.
This joey was kept in a warm pouch and stress free area after a thorough vet check. Thankfully he had no injuries and seemed very healthy. The next step for us was to contact Wildlife Victoria who then came and collected him to get him ready to go back into the wild once strong enough! 🌿🍂
If you come across any injured wildlife you can take them to your local vet clinic!
