We are back in the Purr Pen at PetO Saturday and Sunday. 10am - 2 pm
We have some lovely felines to introduce you to! Tomorrow I am looking forward to seeing the beautiful Nala, Socks and Luna in pen one and in Pen two, yes, we now have 2 pens, is a surprise!!!! Come and give our cats and kittens snuggles and enjoy the kid's activity table hosted by our lovely little craft Queens!

We are forever grateful for the support we get from our wonderful community. Jodie & her team at work are a constant support for us. They supply us with these polar fleece blankets for our nursery. We love them because they are a fast wash and fast dry plus the cats and kittens adore the comfort they bring. We have watched many a kitten develop their biscuits making skills on these gorgeous blankets.

💙🧡 Bart 🧡💙 A Kitten Club Cadet with the most beautiful energy 💙💜🧡

BART (AKA NEVILLE) | MALE - DOMESTIC MEDIUM HAIR - 3 MONTHS

Meet Bart...but we call him Neville, it just fits him better.

Neville is a gentle, fluffy little soul with a sweet, quiet nature that suits his nickname perfectly. He’s a bit more reserved than his friends but full of charm and affection once he feels at ease. He loves being scooped up, going floppy in your arms, and absolutely adores being brushed.

Though sometimes unsure with new things, Neville has a playful streak—batting and paddling at toys with delight. He enjoys doing his own thing but is always happy to share affectionate moments when you’re ready.

Neville would thrive with a feline friend in his new home and will bring endless joy to anyone lucky enough to have him.

Neville has lived as an indoor only cat, with the exception to a cat enclosure and must continue this in his forever home for his own safety.

Neville is desexed, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments.

When we say desexing saves lives, here is one huge example of how. Reducing the holding period to 4 days is going to see more cats killed in pounds and more pressure put on rescue groups to pull miracles out of thin air.

What needs to be made mandatory is desexing. Every cat owner needs to step up to ensure their cat never adds to this problem and never ends up in a pound / shelter.

This is also going to impact the mental health of many people working in this space. No one signs up to see cats killed. We go in to care for them, to help them. There are some amazing people who fight to see cats get the best chance of new homes. Another fear is that we will see an exit of these kind hearts or see them suffer mentally. What we are going to see is more cats killed every year.

We work tirelessly to fundraise so we can support cat owners across Geelong. Our work is live saving as well as life preventing.

Who would like some feel good Vollie vibes this Saturday? Tin rattle is on Moorabool and Fyans street ! Jump in and help for an hour or two ! Then swing over to PetO (the old best friends store) for appreciation purrs & to meet some of our adorable kitten club cadets from Project Meow Geelong now in the care of Geelong Animal Rescue GAR Ltd

🫵 It's that time again... WE NEED YOU for our GAR Road Rattle! 🫵

We are looking for some PAWESOME volunteers to come and join us on the corner of Moorabool Street and Fyans Street, Geelong THIS SATURDAY to do some roadside tin fundraising to support the ongoing costs of foster caring.

This is our first tin rattle of the year so we want to start it with a bang! 💥

We will be fundraising between 9AM and 1PM THIS Saturday, the 22nd of February - if you have an hour or two to spare, please us know!

If you'd like to help out, we have the following time slots available and need at least 8 volunteers for each time slot:
9-11
11-1 (STILL NEEDING 8 VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS TIME SLOT!)

All volunteers must be over the age of 16.

🧡💙Project Meow works tirelessly for the Geelong community, pushing to have as many cats and kittens desexed as possible. Why? Because every single unsterilised cat adds to the cycle of strays, abandoned kittens, and preventable suffering.

💭 Founder Lisa Kearns is passionate about desexing for cats in Geelong. She knows that in her lifetime, the problem won’t disappear, but that doesn’t mean the fight stops. The real change will come with the next generation.

Exciting news! 🧡💙Project Meow is teaming up with our amazing buddies from to kick off regular adoption days at PetO! 🏡🐱

Our first event is happening this weekend – come down and meet Lisa, say hello to our adorable rescue cats, and learn more about how you can help!

In the future, we’ll be firing up the BBQ at these adoption days to help raise funds, and we’re looking for amazing volunteers to be part of it!

👨‍🍳 BBQ Crew – Love flipping snags? We need volunteers to help cook and serve at our upcoming BBQ fundraisers.
🎨 Face Painter – Got artistic skills? We'd love to offer face painting for the kids while they meet our rescue cats.

These adoption days are all about finding loving homes for cats in need and bringing the community together. If you (or someone you know) would love to get involved, comment below or send us a message!

A microchip company called Home safe ID is no longer operating. This means if your pets Microchip details have been registered with them, they will have been lost.

If your pet has been registered with them, your microchip needs to be transferred to a new registry.

To find out where your pets microchip is registered to – go to www.petaddress.com.au. If unsure of your pets Microchip number, bring them in and a nurse can scan them and look up the details for you.

It is important that your microchip details are updated. If your pet was to go missing, your pet can then be tracked back to you.

Home Safe ID is not commonly used in Victoria – however there is still a chance your pet is registered with this company and is absolutely worth checking.

Do you remember the 6 kittens found dumped at a building site in Fyansford? 🧡🧡Meet 2 of them 💙💙 We had the pleasure of pet sitting their brother Spot over Christmas. These kittens are the best fun and so clever. They are such good fun!! Two of them would bring so many giggles. We are super fans of these guys.

Everyone meet Sadie!

Sadie is a playful & happy girl. She will skilfully chase balls throughout the house and play animatedly with her foster siblings, she often leaps up into the air excitedly before landing on a toy or sibling.

She's a very affectionate little lady, she prefers to sleep on her foster mum's bed, snuggled to her all night long. During waking hours she will seek out a lap to sit on when time to rest. She will always thank you for your attention and with a loud generous purr.

Sadie has lived as an indoor only kitten and will need to continue this in her forever home for her safety. Sadie will thrive best in a house with the company of another feline friend.

These are some of our fav plants we use both in pots inside our enclosures and around them. Enclosure need not be dull. Enrichment comes in many forms. Toys, plants, furniture, bedding, perches, hammocks…. Endless really. The key is changing things up from time to time. We do with each season. Lavender another special plant 💜🧡💜. FYI: mint helps keep ants away so I hear!

Effective cat management is important, as it addresses significant challenges related to both cats and their impact on the environment.

The strategy seeks to ensure the wellbeing of both cats and wildlife while establishing a coordinated and integrated approach to managing cats across all land types.

It has been developed through extensive research, expert insights, and consultation with a wide range of stakeholders involved in cat management including councils, animal welfare organisations, land managers, conservation groups, veterinary professionals and cat owners.
