This fathers day we are knocking the Daddio out of the park for male cats. It seems silly having a Fathers Day raffle when we are so into preventing any males cats becoming Dads. Male cats are the key ingredient for Kitten making and the trouble they go through to have a 3 second chance at that is mind blowing. Some boys set off from home never to return, some return with wounds, injuries, disease and viruses. Not many come home dancing through the door smirking and happy. Desexing your male cat will protect him from these risks, protect him from testicular cancer and help level out his hormones that will see him more zen than then. A male cat will settle into desexed life over a period or 4-8 weeks. You will notice his urine won't be as strong and he will feel less inclined to share that fountain of phew around the house and yard as his priorities & desire to hunt breeding opportunities shift and soften. He will still play, steal the bed, hog the couch, sit on the remote and not tell you as you look for it, he will still protect his turf but not care too much about any one else's and yes he will still be YOUR GUY! He will be happier and we are sure you will see that. Best Father's Day ever really.

Please allow me to introduce myself, my name's Colin!

I'm an extremely friendly fellow, I will follow you around the house trilling in the pure delight I get from being in your company. I'm a true companion, a wing man, your reason to smile and I just love a good cuddle. My foster mum says I'm the bestest ever at giving the perfect cuddles and finding comfort. When you least expect it, I just magically appear in your lap bathing you with my loving eyes, soothing you with my calm energy. I love to pop myself right under my blanket in my bed and snuggle right down.

I'm still young enough to love chasing toys, pouncing and zooming about the house. I provide the best of both worlds, I know how to party but still have a wonderful loving, gentle and kind side.

I would suit a home with another female cat, as long as we were given gentle introductions to get us used to each other. I would also suit a home being a solo dude, as long as the humans have lots of love to give me. I've met a cat-friendly dog while in care which was interesting, I may adjust well to a dog in the house as long as we were given a slow introduction as well.

After being on death row and being saved by GAR, I've been living as a indoor-only cat. I must continue this in my forever home for my own safety.

Massive amounts of thanks to everyone who swung past to grab a snag today. The weather was amazing, and the demand just did not stop. It was BRILLIANT! We exceeded our goal by almost 100 snags I believe. We will confirm all the figures etc tomorrow. Special thanks to Bunnings for giving us such great opportunities like this to engage without community and raise money. The money we raised today will be shared with Geelong Animal Rescue GAR Ltd and our half will help cats in need of desexing assistance. That makes us all so very happy.

This week is full of exciting things happening!

Firstly, is our raffle dedicated to the men in our lives. Our Dad's and our male feline lads. With Father's Day coming and breeding about to hit full throttle again the timing could not be better.

Male cats often are considered safe to leave entire as they do not actually have the kittens. We all know how they got there right? The time & risk to his safety & his life for those 3 seconds of breeding without any joy mind you, are NOT of any benefit to him. It is fueled with fear & anxiety for all cats involved. More male cats are injured or contract or spread virus and disease through the quest to breed. It drives them as it does females and the only way they are safe is desexed. All proceeds from the raffle will be allocated to male cats in need of desexing assistance.

We have our first Bunnings BBQ Saturday 10th August at the WAURN PONDS STORE. All the proceeds we make goes straight back into the programs we have built; Our Desexing program, Kitten Club Program and the new Lads Club & Girls Club. 🧡💙PICCOLO💙🧡 THE KITTEN CLUB KING ❤

PICCOLO | MALE - DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR - 2 MONTHS ~ $200

Hi, my name is Piccolo and I’m looking for my forever family. Can you help me?

I’m #1 in the caffeinated crew, but if you are looking for a smooth and mellow coffee, I am not the kitten for you! According to my foster mum, I’m a pocket sized tornado, wrecking chaos and destruction wherever I go! But despite my impressive zoomies and gremlin meow, I do also love snuggling up to foster mum in bed or on the couch, and I give purrs that could rival the loudest thunder.

I’ve been in care with my 3 siblings since I was very young, and we’ve spent the last month in a foster home with 2 resident cats and another foster kitten, so I get along very well with other cats. I’ve also met a dog once and I didn’t like it, but with time I think I could adjust.

Foster mum says I am not suitable for a family with young children, because I tend to express my feelings with my claws and teeth. She also says ideally I need a home with a feline friend or a family that is home a lot to prevent me getting bored. When I’m bored I get artistic (destructive), so best to avoid that. Could you be my forever family? Can’t wait to meet you!

💙🧡💙Tilly💙🧡💙 Now for a home she can gracefully rule and a heart she can steal. 🌸

TILLY | FEMALE- DOMESTIC MEDIUM HAIR - 2 YEARS ~ $200

Everybody, meet Tilly!

Tilly enjoys spending her days lounging in a cosy spot, inhaling food and playing with toys (but only in secret!). She portrays a tough girl façade but underneath, she is a massive softy who adores head scratches and soft pats. Tilly is very autonomous and finds pleasure in doing what she pleases and will rarely seek your lap for comfort so if you're looking for a cat that loves cuddles, keep looking. Following on from this, Tilly despises being picked up and will loudly warn you that she is extremely upset with your decision.

Tilly has absolutely no issues when it comes to food. She is content annihilating any food you dish up and is known to jump on benches or rip through any bags you may have lying around in search of more food.

Now we must stress, Tilly is not fond of other felines. Whilst living in foster care, Tilly has shared her household with kittens, male & female cats and has shown a strong dislike towards the kittens and male cats. She also gets upset when the female adult cats breach her personal space. So therefore, she needs to be the only cat in her new home or she would be able to tolerate another female adult cat who shares a similar demeanour.

She requires a forever home that understands it will require an immense amount of patience to allow Tilly to blossom in to a loving and trusting companion. She has not been tested with dogs or children but we strongly believe that she would be unable to co-exist with either as she can easily get stressed and become agitated.

Tilly will be very shy during a meet and greet which we are hoping her new family will understand. Ideally, Tilly requires a calm forever home where she will feel safe and loved and in turn, we believe she will absolutely thrive and bring you many moments of joy with her unique quirks.

Our little Ed Sheeran has done himself an injury. He was just getting ready to launch himself into someone's heart and boom he now needs surgery. Ed is a Kitten Club Cadet who is now in the gentle care and arms of Geelong Animal Rescue GAR Ltd who do SO much for us. We ask all our friends to help us out with the lad by sharing & donating anything at all
to help get Ed back on his 4 feet. 🧡

🚨 GAR FAM, WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🚨

One of our mischievous little foster kittens, Ed Sheeran, has managed to get himself into a bit of trouble. He has broken his ankle through the growth plate and because he's so young, it's crucial to act quickly to prevent any complications as he grows.

After consulting with advanced vet care orthopaedic surgeons today, it's been determined that Ed needs surgery tomorrow. The estimated cost for the examination and the surgery is around $7500 and we need your help to reach our target!

🌸Meg 🌸 a kitten club mum who was found on the street - well she actually took her newborn kittens into a couples garage and asked for help. In comes Project Meow. Sadly there was no capacity for them at GAWS, and leaving them on the street was NOT an option we cared to consider. Meg was not microchipped & we watched socials to see if anyone was looking for her. Meg and her kittens were cared for by us in our nursery. Now her mummy duties are OVER she is seeking more of what she has become accustomed to in care and to live on being treated like a queen. Oh !!!! This amazing gentle girl raised a solo orphan kitten also. Bless her heart.

MEG | FEMALE - DOMESTIC MEDIUM HAIR - 1 YEAR ~ $200

Hi everyone, I’m Meg!

I love to meet and greet all new people that come into my life. I’m an independent lady and I beat to my own drum! I have a lot of energy to burn, so I love to play games and run around the house. I don’t like to be held for long, and prefer to lay next to you than on you. Small kids may not be the best match for me as I prefer my own space. Once I've gotten to know you, I'll start to show my confident self.

I don’t like vacuum cleaners, hairdryers but am ok with most other loud noises. I love to play, love have a good face rub and head scratch, enjoy sitting on a stool in the kitchen to watch you cook. I will also come and investigate the delicious smell when you sit down to eat, hoping that you leave some for me. My foster mum say's I’m a bit cheeky!

I've been good with the dogs I've met while in care, and I'm unsure about other cats. I haven't been around any while in care, if you are willing to ensure we have a slow introduction I may be okay in a household with another laid back cat. Otherwise, I would be great riding solo.

As we kiss this financial year goodbye, we are all looking forward to the process of refurbishing our Kitten Nursery. Our nursery is for emergency / temporary housing to support our Kitten Club Program. This can be mum's with kittens, expecting kittens or just supporting the kittens as we prepare these little families for adoption. This project will see our nursery space transformed and we will be much better equipped to help more families navigate the difficult path to gaining the assistance they desperately need. Preventing kittens and protecting the ones already here is the first step to kind humane cat management.
We are so very grateful to Welfare Victoria and The Victorian Government for funding support. We are as proud as we are grateful, that they recognise the need and support the work we do. THANK YOU!

This charity grew from being a volunteer working in a shelter. You will find volunteers giving back to the community everywhere. This army of kind hearts are what shapes and makes differences for organisations they care for. If you have volunteers be kind to them, treat them well, respect and support them. If you see a volunteer thank them for their dedication to their cause. If you are a volunteer “thank you for making this world a nicer place”. National Volunteer Week brings light onto the huge volume of unpaid people working and caring to support a charity or organisation we all rely on. 🧡🙌🏻🧡 You just may find there are more unpaid people than paid people providing the help the community needs.

This young lady joined our Kitten Club Program and said goodbye to her kittens as they went off to to have the best start to their precious lives as they step out into the world.
