Closure of HomeSafeID microchip database
You may have heard through the media that the HomeSafeID pet microchip registry has closed.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR YOU AND YOUR PET?
- If your pet was microchipped by Bellarine Veterinary Practice, YOU DO NOT NEEDEED TO WORRY as we have never implanted HomeSafeID microchips
- If your pet does have a HomeSafeID microchip, the Victorian Government has temporarily taken over the database to ensure that the information is still accessible until they have decided which database provider to transition the information to, so if your pet gets lost, they should still be able to be reunited with you. Once they have decided which database will provide the ongoing management of this data, you will be contacted by the new database
- In the meantime, you do not NEED to do anything but wait to be contacted
- If you WANT to be proactive and select your new database, you can make arrangements to have your pet's microchip registered with one of the other licensed registries. You will need your pet's microchip number in order to do this. There may be fees involved.
- We use Central Animal Records as our default registry
