After watching and waiting, and trying to be patient, Ruby decided I should cancel my coffee catch up with a friend, and made herself busy delivering kittens this afternoon. I'm not sure if she's finished yet, and as a highly protective mum, she's certainly not one who lets me help or check babies, but there are 3 at the moment, and it appears at least one may be a girl.
Now Tabitha just needs to get on and have hers!

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick ... being patient is hard!
I know these kittens are due, but my goodness, they're sure taking their sweet time, and these watched pots are apparently in no hurry to boil!!
As adorable as they looked last night gazing into each other's eyes (first photo), much to Ruby and Tabitha's dismay, I realised I needed to separate them before I went to bed. I was concerned about kittens being squashed, especially when Tabitha was often laying on Ruby, but I also realised that if they both started delivering together, it could be all too easy to mix up whose kittens were whose, and that certainly wouldn't do.

They say, "Patience is a virtue".
It's true, and it's one virtue I'm trying to exercise as I wait for Tabitha and Ruby to deliver their precious cargoes. Meanwhile, at least technology allows me to keep an eye on them while I do other things.

It's a busy house at the moment: Tina's kids are 13wks today, and the boy, Reggie, is booked for his big vet visit tomorrow, ahead of heading to Melbourne next week. At this stage, his sisters remain under evaluation, but may be assigned before too long.
Choccy's little bloke was 6wks old last Sunday, and is getting cheekier and more adventurous every day, and loves hanging with the big kids!
Toffee's boys are now 4 wks old, and starting to get fun. Mum decided to move them from their birth box, so I had to go on a bit of a hunt to find them, but hopefully she is now happy with their location!
If that's not enough, Ruby and Tabitha have been busy cooking are both due in the next few days, so are in lockdown together in the bedroom. This will be the last litter for Ruby, and the first for her granddaughter Tabitha, so it will be very interesting to see what they have.

I'll be a bit tricky to contact over the next couple of days due to our Rex Cat Fanciers of SA show tomorrow, so please be patient, and I'll get to messages early next week.

Choccy and Rocky's boy was 4wks old on Sunday, and is looking really good.
Choccy has apparently decided that Junior needs to get out a bit more, and not just be stuck in the nest, so has started bringing him out to visit in the lounge room, and to hang out in the best sun puddles with her, before then bringing him back to the nest at bedtime.

I'm sad to report that Toffee is down to three boys. While not losing weight, her smaller red boy wasn't really putting any on much either and yesterday morning I found he had passed overnight. Thankfully, the remaining three are gaining weight nicely and seem to all be doing well. Breeding really can be very tough to deal with sometimes, and is certainly not for the feint-hearted.

The show team was down one today, after Quest chose to make herself unfindable this morning, but Smokey Joe, Mouse and I still attended the Foreign Shorthair Cat Club show.

Our judges:
Ring 1 - Bronwyn Main - NZCF
Ring 2 - Deborah Cameron - Cats NSW
Ring 3 - Kingsley Schmidtke - GCCFSA

Both cats got each of their challenges, with Mouse Best of Breed in each ring, 4th in Group in Ring 1, and Reserve in Group and CCCA Challenge Award in Ring 3.

Thanks as always to the club, judges, stewards, sponsors, workers and other exhibitors for another lovely day.

After the cheeky girl showed the others the way out, Tina's kittens are now out of the pen, and have taken over the bedroom ... and my bed! At 9wks old, they are developing beautifully.

Allocations will be happening soon, so if you're on my list, please remember to update me with your situation and any changes of circumstance.

After a long night, I'm pleased to introduce Toffee's 4 sons. Sadly, a 5th tiny (54g) son passed away while I was getting a few hours sleep, but the other boys appear to be strong and healthy, all weighing 81 - 86g each.

Tina's crew continue to thrive. They had their 8wk vet check and first vaccination on Friday, and believe it or not, the little guy who was just 57g at birthday is now the heaviest at 830g, with the girls not far behind at 820g and 780g.
I'm not a great photographer, but will try to get some better photos of each of them to share with you shortly.

Long post warning ⚠️

After a full weekend at the CCCA National Show 2024, I enjoyed a much needed long lie in and a quiet morning. There were 345 cats and kittens entered in total, with 197 in Group 3, 96 of which were entire. * I've included a photo of the stat's page from the catalogue for those interested.

As always, thanks again to the organisers, the judges, stewards, all the sponsors especially and , the workers and fellow exhibitors for a fabulous weekend. It was lovely to personally meet some interstate Facebook friends and I enjoyed chatting with new acquaintances from Queensland along with other exhibitors when time permitted.

I was kept fairly busy ring clerking both days, so have no photos of the kids being judged, but have these in their crates at the end of the day, Sunday. I'll share any the official photographers got when they come through.

For those wondering, Choccy's little boy is growing like a w**d! Born last Sunday at 91g, he weighed in this evening at 200g!
His mummy has loved the curls and fluff right off him, but he is otherwise doing great, and his eyes are partially open

14/07/2024

The team and I went to the CCCA National Show 2024 this weekend, and had a lovely weekend enjoying the company of some lovely local and interstate exhibitors, along with local, interstate and international judges, and even some possible future Rabeskah family members.
We're all a bit weary so I'll share full results tomorrow, but the team did well, especially Quest.

Despite Choccy going for wanders every so often to see the rest of the "family", no-one can say Choccy's boy is going hungry - he's just weighed in at 136g, from 114g yesterday morning, and 91g at birth late Sunday morning. That said, his little curls seem to have all disappeared, but hopefully they'll regrow before too long 🤞

My goodness, Tina's mink girl is such an adventurous, cheeky little girl! Her brother was yelling at her to get down 🤣

Choccy update:
After sadly birthing one sleeping 92g boy last night then labour stopping, Choccy had a c-section this morning to deliver the remaining kitten, a hungry 91g boy, who looks like he might be pale lilac.

Looks like it might be a long night ...
Choccy x Rocky

Edit: Choccy had 1 beautiful 92g lilac boy born sleeping at 9.30pm last night, followed by a c-section this morning for 1 more little boy, who may also be lilac. I'll post photos later
