A reminder there will be fireworks in Gisborne tonight from 9pm. Many dogs and cats can find the sound of fireworks overwhelming and very scary!

Here are some tips on how you can keep your pets safe during fireworks:

1️⃣ **Keep Them Indoors:** Close windows and doors to reduce noise.
2️⃣ **Create a Safe Space:** Set up a cozy area where your pet feels secure. Add blankets, toys, and familiar scents.
3️⃣ **Distract Them:** Turn on calming music or the TV to help drown out the noise.
4️⃣ **Stay Close:** Your presence can help reassure your pet during stressful times.
5️⃣ **Update Their ID Tags:** Just in case they get out, ensure your pet’s ID is up to date.

If your dog has reacted previously, we have medications available to help them through the fireworks. Contact the clinic for an appointment at 5420 7000

Fireworks can be beautiful, but let’s keep it safe for everyone—including our beloved animals. Spread the word and protect your pets! ❤️

At Angel Flight, we are passionate about helping all those in need. From children to the elderly and everyone in between. Pictured is one of our new passengers 1-year-old Cobin, his mum Naomi and sister Nastasia who live in Bairnsdale, VIC and called upon our assistance to travel to Melbourne for a specialist appointment.

Our volunteer pilot Rob assisted the family to and from Melbourne by air and Earth Angel Ian provided the ground transport from airport to hospital - allowing them quick, easy and stress free travel all in the same day!

Here's some lovely words from pilot Rob about the trip, showcasing why our amazing volunteers love doing what they do for our rural friends:

"Today was a truly rewarding experience as I had the pleasure of taking Naomi, Colbin, and Nastasia on their first Angel Flight from Bairnsdale to Moorabbin for essential medical treatment not available in their area. This journey marked the family's inaugural trip with Angel Flight, and we were fortunate to have warm, clear weather that allowed us to enjoy breathtaking views of the Gippsland Lakes, the Latrobe Valley, and the scenic countryside leading up to Moorabbin.

Shortly after departure, Colbin fell asleep, completely relaxed by the smooth flight, while Nastasia delighted in the stunning views, capturing moments with her camera. Naomi expressed her surprise at the incredible service provided by Angel Flight, which assists remote individuals in accessing vital medical care in the city. She mentioned that driving to Melbourne would typically take 4-6 hours, especially with stops for the children. In contrast, our Cirrus SR22 plane made the trip in just 50 minutes, cruising comfortably at altitudes between 6,000 and 8,000 feet at a speed of 160 knots (approximately 296 km/h).

After their medical appointments, we quickly boarded the plane again at Moorabbin and returned home well before dinner time. I also managed to get back to my airfield at Essendon in time for dinner.

I find immense joy in flying whenever possible, and being able to assist families in our rural areas is both satisfying and fulfilling. I look forward to my next mission somewhere in Victoria!"

🐾 **Snake Season is Here – Protect Your Pets!** 🐍

With the warmer weather, snakes are on the move, and our furry friends can be at risk. As pet owners, it’s crucial to stay vigilant and take steps to keep your pets safe.

Winnie is a lucky snake bite survivor thanks to her owners quick actions!

💡 **Tips to Keep Pets Safe During Snake Season**:
✔️ **Leash Walks Only**: Keep dogs on a leash during walks, especially in bushy or grassy areas.
✔️ **Yard Safety**: Maintain a tidy yard by clearing long grass, woodpiles, and debris where snakes may hide.
✔️ **Avoid High-Risk Times**: Snakes are more active early in the morning and late in the afternoon – exercise caution during these hours.
✔️ **Know the Signs**: Symptoms that may indicate your pet has been bitten include sudden collapse, swelling, drooling, lethargy, or trembling. Seek immediate vet care if you suspect a bite.

📞 **Emergency Care**: If your pet is bitten, contact us immediately at 5420 7000. Time is critical in snakebite cases, so don’t delay!

Together, we can keep your pets safe this snake season. Stay alert and enjoy the warmer months responsibly.

So happy that little Biccy was able to make her way home 🥰 thank you The Wildlings Woodend Wildlife Shelter for looking after her!

Biccy goes home.

Biccy was handed into Hamilton Street Veterinary Clinic last Friday. Tonight Biccy has gone back to her home territory and we hope she does well.

Our goal as a wildlife shelter is to give wildlife a 2nd chance, wherever possible we get them back out as soon as possible whilst ensuring they are 100% fit for release.

Not all have such a great outcome but Biccy did.

Ringtail possums are social possums living in colonies. They often fall victims to cat/dog attack & car strike. Loss of suitable habitat is also a problem for them particularly with removal of native vegetation.

Stay safe out there dear girl.

We’ve partnered with GapOnly® to help provide more treatment payment options.
If your pet is insured with a GapOnly® pet insurance partner, you can access your eligible pet insurance benefit on the spot. So rather than paying us the full invoice amount upfront and waiting to be reimbursed, you only pay what your pet insurance policy doesn’t cover – or the gap.

Swipe left to see the insurance companies partnered with GapOnly.

If you'd like to use GapOnly at your next visit, please let the nurses at reception know. 🐶🐱
