Dear Valued Clients,

I am writing to inform you of a personal matter that will temporarily affect my availability. As some of you may know, I have been struggling with my mental health.

While I am actively seeking treatment, I have made the difficult decision to step away from work until further notice. Unfortunately, this means that all Christmas and New Year bookings will need to be cancelled.

I understand that this may inconvenience some of you, and I apologize for any disruption this may cause. During this time, I encourage you to explore alternative options within the industry to meet your immediate needs.

Please know that I am thinking of you all during this challenging time. I will keep you updated on my progress and will return to work as soon as I am able.

Here are some ideas to keep your pets safe from snakes

Clear garden undergrowth, fill in holes and mow your lawns regularly

Rake up fallen leaves, flowers, branches etc.

Clean up spilt food, fruit or birdseed that would attract rodents (who attract snakes)

Don't let your pets sniff 'dead' snakes – they are still venomous and may be play-acting

Train your dog to respond immediately if you call – if you see them confronting a snake, you want them to listen to you, leave the snake and return to your side

Walk your dog on a lead and don't let them run off through park or bushland

Don't allow you dog to explore holes or run through long grass, despite how curious they are

And my most significant piece of advice – don't approach snakes!

If you find a snake on your property, please don't try to catch or kill it. Victoria has so many venomous snakes that will strike if provoked. Calmly take your animals inside and call your local snake

Fiona’s Pet Services is using Pet Sitting Software to improve your experience as you use our services!

The new software is called Time To Pet, and all of our customers now have their very own Client Portal account on the system.

Using your Client Portal, you can now provide real-time updates to all of your pet information, your information as well as request future services, view all scheduled events, view your invoices and more.

To activate your account, please visit https://www.timetopet.com/portal/activate and enter your email address and click “Send Activation Email”. You will receive an email with a link to activate your account.

After logging in for the first time, please take a moment to review all of the information in the “Pets” section as well as the “My Info” section. If any information needs to be updated, please take a moment to update the info as well. If you have any questions about using the Portal, you can visit the Help Section (http://help.timetopet.com/collection/7-client-portal) or you can contact us directly.

You can also download the Time To Pet app and login using your existing client portal login credentials.

In the app - you can update your information, view and send messages, request services and much more. The app also supports push notifications if you’d like to receive notifications when we’ve sent you a new message.

The app can be downloaded right from the Apple App Store (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/time-to-pet/id957456517?mt=8) or from the Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sweetss.timetopet&hl=en).

Be safe where you walk your dog.

Magpies swoop if:

They've been harassed in the past (aggressive behaviour, things thrown at them etc.)

You're way too close to their territory (stay away from their nests and young)

You try to pick up a fledgeling (a young one who has left the nest)

Your clothing colour attracts them, or you're travelling at a speed they don't like

With the weather being cold outside, here is an indoor game you can play with your pet. Have fun!

Hide and seek

Grab your pet's favourite treats (I recommended you check out Bugsy's), and set up a game of hide and seek. Pop the treats around a room or the house while your pet is in a different room. Then let them at it.

Indulging their sense of smell, you'll be tiring them out as they search around your home for their treats. Make sure you give lots of praise and encouragement.

My name is Fiona and I have a love and passion for animals!

I have over 10 years experience caring for animals, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, mice and birds.

I am qualified in Companion Animals Services (Cert III), First Aid and CPR. I am fully insured to care for your pets.

I have worked/volunteered at many animal organisations such as The Seeing Eye Dogs Australia, Keysborough Animal Shelter and Malvern Central Veterinary Services.
