How to help prevent dehydration in your dog at home

During the warmer months, your dog must always have access to loads of clean, cool drinking water.

Here are some ways you can help prevent dehydration in your dog:

Use larger drinking bowls or have multiple ones left around your home/yard, especially if you're out during the day

Allow your dog to stay inside in a cool house or have plenty of shaded areas outside if they must be out during the heat of the day

Pop some ice cubes in their drinking water to keep the water cool and act as a fun way to attract your dog to drink more water (they love playing with ice blocks!)

Provide drinking fountains that offer a continuous supply of fresh water

If you're travelling in the car, take travel bottles and bowls so you can refuel your dog on the journey

Avoid excessive exercise on hot days, and if you want to go for a walk, make it short and go during the cooler parts of the day

Offer your dog wet food as an added measure of getting more fluid into their little body

Today we celebrate Sasha's 8th birthday.

It’s that one night of the year where the furry family feel like the world is ending 🧨 😳
So I wanted to help you show them it’s just the year. And everything is going to be ok πŸ• 🐈

There are 2 key focuses to manage New Year’s Eve fireworks fears.
1. Their SAFETY: Bring them inside. It’s the only way to prevent a runaway. And be ready for those pesky 9pm early fireworks πŸŽ†
2. Their SANITY: Once they’re in, you can easily create a world where the bangs and crashes don’t send their heart racing and tail dropping 😴

I’ve created a full guide you can find below in the comments below πŸ‘‡

31/12/2024

Please keep your pets safe on NYE πŸ™
In the days leading up to NYE, I always get upset thinking about all the pets who will have a dreadful night because of the fireworks. Many pets panic and a lot get lost. Sadly, many get hit by cars and never make it home. It’s heartbreaking πŸ’”

PLEASE Keep All Pets Indoors
β€’ Bring them inside early, long before the fireworks start.

Close Your Blinds and Curtains
β€’ Blocking out the flashing lights can help

Mask the Noise 🎢
β€’ Play soothing music, or keep the TV on to help drown out the fireworks.

Have Someone Stay With Your Pet
β€’ is there a friend or relative who can keep them company.

Create a Safe Space
β€’ Set up a cozy, quiet area with their favorite bed, toys, and some treats to help them feel secure.

Chat to a vet
β€’ your vet may recommend natural supplements or medication

The most important thing is to make sure all pets are confined and safe. This is also a good opportunity to make sure their ID is up to date.

Hi everyone! πŸ‘‹

I’m so grateful for your understanding and support during this tough time.

I'm slowly getting back on my feet and am excited to announce that we’ll be gradually resuming dog walks starting mid-January.

Please note that availability will be limited initially as we ramp up our services. 🐢

We're aiming to be back at full strength by the end of January.

In the meantime, we'll be offering a limited number of dog walks.

Dear Valued Clients,

I am writing to inform you of a personal matter that will temporarily affect my availability. As some of you may know, I have been struggling with my mental health.

While I am actively seeking treatment, I have made the difficult decision to step away from work until further notice. Unfortunately, this means that all Christmas and New Year bookings will need to be cancelled.

I understand that this may inconvenience some of you, and I apologize for any disruption this may cause. During this time, I encourage you to explore alternative options within the industry to meet your immediate needs.

Please know that I am thinking of you all during this challenging time. I will keep you updated on my progress and will return to work as soon as I am able.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
Sincerely,
Fiona

Here are some ideas to keep your pets safe from snakes

Clear garden undergrowth, fill in holes and mow your lawns regularly

Rake up fallen leaves, flowers, branches etc.

Clean up spilt food, fruit or birdseed that would attract rodents (who attract snakes)

Don't let your pets sniff 'dead' snakes – they are still venomous and may be play-acting

Train your dog to respond immediately if you call – if you see them confronting a snake, you want them to listen to you, leave the snake and return to your side

Walk your dog on a lead and don't let them run off through park or bushland

Don't allow you dog to explore holes or run through long grass, despite how curious they are

And my most significant piece of advice – don't approach snakes!

If you find a snake on your property, please don't try to catch or kill it. Victoria has so many venomous snakes that will strike if provoked. Calmly take your animals inside and call your local snake
