Be realistic but keep it up

Our dogs love routine. And they love spending time with us. Whether that's cuddling on the couch or going out for their daily walk, they love the interaction.

If your dog is used to daily walks, winter and rainy days shouldn't be any different; you just need to plan it a bit more. Judging on the rain, storm or wind etc., work out how far you can walk, how long you can stand being outside and what the path is like. Then rug up and set off.

Winter walks are also great for keeping off those winter kilos that can sneak up on dogs and owners alike!

A tip to keep your pet entertained indoors

Snuggle up on the couch

You don't always need to be on the go to keep your dog entertained. When it's too cold and wet to go outside, snuggle up on the couch with a blanket and let your pet sit with you.

Cats will happily snuggle all winter long (enjoy that attention while you can!), and dogs will curl up beside you (or try to sit on you) and be snoring their heads off in no time at all. Your pets will be more than happy if they're by your side, keeping warm.

I Bring in the mail
Ill Take out the bins
Ill Update you on your pet
Ill Clean up droppings
And Cuddles for your pet

We have had a funny Autumn in Melbourne.

I've noticed some of my clients dogs wearing they're warm gear.

Dogs who benefit from a winter coat include:

Small or medium dogs with thin coats, such as Chihuahuas, Terriers, Dachshunds etc.

Thin dogs such as Whippets or Greyhounds

Dogs that have been clipped short, such as Poodles

Older dogs as they can't regulate their body temperature as well

ANZAC day (25th April) is a special day for Australians. It's a day we remember and honour all the soldiers who fought wars to make our country what it is today.

They are brave, they are selfless, and they are heroes.

On a national day of remembrance, and as an animal lover, I felt it appropriate to pay tribute to the, often forget, furry heroes of war.

You may not have realised, but animals have played a considerable part in wartimes.

They've given soldiers comfort, been guards and mascots and even hunted enemies. And then there are our feathered friends who carried messages in times before mobile phones and CB radios!

And following on from the wartimes, animals continue to play a vital role for many returned soldiers. They offer loyal companionship and help to relieve stress when our soldiers are facing PTSD and related trauma.

I am qualified in Companion Animals Services (Cert III), First Aid and CPR. I am fully insured to care for your pets.
