Over the last few days I've been working with Cash on- pressure on the girth area, walking off on voice command and pressure of where leg will be positioned under saddle. Also flexion, one rein stop and voice commands for halt, walk and trot.
Today was his first day with a lunge roller on and he didn't bat an eyelid!
He was not phased by it being on nor it being done up a little tighter in intervals.
Such a smart cruisey big boy and he's only 2 1/2yrs old ππ
After finally getting a new saddle that fits Pollyanna, we got our second ride in under saddle!
This girl is as cruisey as they come.
Slow n steady, more whoa than go. Maybe a tad on the lazy side haha
Riding bitless in a halter as well.
Once she's going, she's got a big powerful trot and nicely balanced even this early on.
Very happy with today's ride ππ
(Note: in video I am not hitting her with the rein but smacking my leg to encourage her forward with the snap sound, as she was being a little lazy and not responding to my voice or leg pressure)
1st day float training. Within 10mins Cash was comfortable walking in himself and backing out nicely.
Good job Buddy!!!
Next phase coming soon π
So I've been working on handling Cashs legs and hooves for around 3-4 weeks (5 weeks I was out of action with torn Achilles)
A little bit of training with him every day. I don't like to rush any horse but use consistency and clear cues in my training. Each horses time frame is different.
Cash was very reluctant from the start of his halter breaking to have anything near his legs and being a colt made it trickier lol double barelling and cow kicking were his favs lol
Well persistence pays off with ground work and he's now ready to be booked for his first trim!! Such a wild colt.. Not anymore π
Excuse my dogs photo bombing vid lol
