Today we had our first pony party. Let me tell you- we learnt a bunch of things. Mainly not to accidentally perm the horses mane the day of the party. Trusty hair curler/ straightener came in handy. But wow! It looked amazing and all the kids had a brilliant time. Success all round!!! Watch the whole video for full effect 😂😂😂😂

Nuno : - ′′ La compétition ne m'intéresse pas. D ' une part, il détruit l'esprit du cheval en le mécanisant à l'extrême. Je suis intéressé pour essayer de comprendre le caractère du cheval, voir l'évolution de son comportement, créer quelque chose avec lui, et ces choses ne peuvent pas être jugées en ponctuation, parfois quand je suis avec un cheval, j'ai l'impression de ne rien savoir en matière d'équitation, que j'ai besoin de tout redécouvrir, et c'est ce qui est excitant. Dans la compétition internationale de dressage quand je vois les chevaux récitant leur leçon si parfaitement qu'ils ressemblent à des machines sans âme... ′′

This 🙌🙌🙌

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬?

I find it completely bizarre that often common sense isn’t used when we are handling our horses, actually it’s something that boils my blood and considering I have this platform I feel I can try help the most important person/animal in this situation … the horse.

You would have thought we’ve moved on from “old horsemanship training methods”, “being the boss”, “getting after the horse”, basically scaring them into submission but unfortunately we haven’t.

Now, I’m not here to attack anyone or anyone’s “training” methods but what I do hope is that people can take a look at how they handle their horses at a different perspective.

Imagine if someone walked up to you, demanded, in fact shouted tasks they want you to complete and they stand back and wait for you to do it… would you do it?
Our horses are not here to follow our commands blindly, they should be here to be a horse first and our friend second, and friends do things for each other it’s never a one way street otherwise in my eyes that’s a pretty miserable friendship.

I often see owners getting frustrated and upset when their horse doesn’t do what they ask, they often punish them for not doing the task they were asked, I remember as a child I struggled learning Mathematics, I was not good at it at all (I’m still not) I often got discouraged by teachers and talked to in a negative way for getting it wrong.
Do you think I wanted to try again? Nope, I wanted to avoid any situation that resulted in me failing, because it didn’t feel good.

It’s important to remember that often our horses don’t know what we are asking of them, usually they don’t follow through with an activity because they are confused at what we are asking. 𝐑𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐲, and ask them again. It’s like we are saying “Good try buddy, but that wasn’t quite it, can we try again?”.

𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐛𝐨𝐱. It sounds self explanatory doesn’t it, but for some it isn’t. For some this is all they know. Again this where our common sense comes in, how would you feel if someone used physical violence to your child to get them to “learn”… it hasn’t, doesn’t and will never work. All you are teaching is that life is scary, painful and unpredictable. All you are teaching is trauma.

Let’s all say this together…..

We are excited to announce the new look school holiday program for kids is back this winter. It will be a full day 10 - 3:30pm with lunch and all activities included. Ages will range from 6-15 years. We will be painting the bones and muscles on the ponies, leading, playing games with horses, doing liberty work and generally having a great time. Lunch will be pizza (all kids love pizza right?). Secure your spot as places are limited and it won't take long for them to fill up.
