I talk a lot about fascia for humans now I will start taking about in respect to horses as well 🙂

Fascia- tissue paper thin tissue that can make your horses body (& ours) as happy or as unhappy as can be.
Head to tail to toes- EVERYTHING CONNECTS. Treat the body as a whole.
"Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve Tiber and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin."
So when you have a trauma related injury, a bad fall, or structural damage, things move. You might bring a chiropractor in to help your athlete out, rightfully so.
Well when they "don't hold their adjustment" it's typically because fascia has already adjusted things internally and re-learned how to be wrong instead of correct. So we have to release the fascia in order for the body to learn how to be correct again. Bring in Acuscope/Myopulse. We can help the body do some fascia release! My chiropractors, osteopaths ect.
Find that when I work on them before or after, things go hand in hand, and results stay put.

" - The left side is balanced and correct.
The right side, somewhere, something (fascia) is holding/ pulling on part of the body and throwing the whole body off. Causing over compensation, soreness, ect.

I’m currently writing an online bushfire ready course for horse owners looking at your bushfire plan, how to decide if you evacuate your horses and what to pack or get ready. And what to do once the bushfire has passed. It will include downloadable checklists so nothing is forgotten and a debrief sheet so you can test out your plan and see what worked and what didn’t. Is there anything else people want in a course like this?

I’ve been putting off announcing this for about 6 months- with no further ado I was nominated and won a national/international award for Equestrian Training Provider of the year. I am so proud of this achievement as it acknowledges the hard work that goes into making sure the academy is the best it can be ❤️❤️

Marie Matter- Chief Instructor

Ever since I can remember my happy place has always been with horses. It’s not something I can explain but I was born with an affinity for them.

I started my riding career in the 80’s at a riding school in Adelaide. Once I got to about 10 years old I then moved to Templewood School of Riding. In my formative years I spent as much time as I was allowed with horses and learnt as much as I possibly could. I had lessons with visiting instructors, attended gymkhanas, jumped anything and everything I could and generally had a wonderful time with horses.

I then had a break while I went to University and discovered life without horses. I studied Cognitive Science at Flinders University and then secured a job as a Research Assistant in a Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory. Until the call back to the saddle became too great. So I once again returned to lessons but this time my focus was on dressage. I studied under Winmallee Classical Riding and then Academy of Dressage both located in the Adelaide Hills. The knowledge and skills I gained from both schools was immense and really set me on the path to wanting to teach this beautiful art form I had discovered to others. I gained my Certificate III in Sports Education (Equestrian) in 2014. I then began teaching dressage to students in the Adelaide Hills.

I felt there was something lacking in my education despite the number of hours I had spent studying the theory and practice of dressage. In an effort to become the best rider and trainer I could be I then found the National School of Academic Equitation (NSAE) in Snohomish and travelled to the USA to study under masters Craig Stevens and Mary Anne Campbell. This was a truly enlightening voyage. If you liken my knowledge to a Christmas Tree with lights on it, Mary Anne Campbell and Craig Stevens plugged in the lights and turned them on. I still have regular check in’s with Mary Anne Campbell and Craig Stevens via online lessons. We are always learning and horses have so much to teach us. I travelled to Snohomish again in 2019 for a week of riding with Mary Anne Campbell and it was both refreshing and enlightening to be able to get on horses at different stages of training and pick up on the conversation like they were my own horses.
