Young Standardbred Jaxon has been under saddle less than two weeks and is showing great promise so much so that he has landed a fantastic home at True Trails with the wonderful Cheri. His only hang up was water so we stopped at the beach on the way to his new home.
Thoroughbred and Standardbred Jumping
Ashley Meaburn struck the quinella at pony club on Sunday taking a thoroughbred and a standardbred recently off the track along to try the cross country course. Both of them are lovely young horses enjoying life after racing!
Improving the standardbred canter with Kat Mullan education session now on in the round yard next to the equine arena at Agfest! If you miss today, this session is on again at 12 tomorrow!
Luella Meaburn and successful racehorse Makes Cents showing how versatile the thoroughbred is. Come and see their liberty display today on the main arena at 3:45!
One standardbred, one thoroughbred, one trainer who's practiced and practiced and practiced. I think we'll call that a success!! Michael Voss with Vinnie Toretto and Kompressor. Roman Riding at Agfest 2019! Come and see us tomorrow on the main arena at 3:45!
Baxter 60cm round
Hazel Howie and her standardbred Baxter have been regulars at our Off the Track clinics. Last night at Jump Club was his first ever start over 60cm fences.
Baxter raced in Tasmania under the name of Fletcher's Knight having 23 starts for 3 wins. Since leaving racing Hazel has started Baxter under saddle working on his dressage and recently introduced jumping and evening to this happy little horse.
Often the lovely standardbreds can struggle with coordinating their legs when doing something like jumping. Baxter has only recently gained enough confidence to canter over jumps, and with that confidence has come extra exuberance! Hazel says,
"God I love this boy. He never says no, but tries his hardest with every knew thing I present him with. In the last 6 months he's competed in four grade 5 (50 cm) one day events. Amazingly he won his very first event at Huntingfield and went on to win another at TEC and a third at Huonville. He also came 2nd at Monmouth! Next month I'm taking him to the Southern Eventing Championships at TEC (Lauderdale) where he'll be competing in grade 4 (65 cm). Baxter loves to jump and he loves the TEC cross country course as it's very open with lots of distance between jumps to canter. We can't wait!"
WE can't wait to hear how this gorgeous boy goes and look forward to updates!
If you've a standardbred or thoroughbred horse you'd like to participate in our Off the Track clinics with send us an email to [email protected] to register for our newsletter.
