EVERY ONES FAVOURITE SCHOOL MASTER.
This is "Dopey" one of my Sandro Hit horses who after a competition career is now one of our school masters.
He is so good and tolerant for riders to learn the higher movements on but don't think you can just pull it out of the hat.
All the buttons work so well once you have got your balance, posture, body tone and understanding of the horses' biomechanics.
Without that skill you will still have a safe ride but having gained that extra skill and insight will be rewarded and you will get the elevation, lightness and fancy stuff.
EVITA’S FIRST DAY OF LEARNING TO JUMP.
And she was lucky enough to have my brand new COUNTY XTREME JUMP SADDLE on.
She is a 3/4 sister to POESTA and we aim to start her in Eventing later this year.
Today was her first time jumping and she is showing the same focus and control as her sister who LOVED Eventing!
SPR EVITA is by SIR DONNERHALL out of our imported KWPN mare Vita (Osmium x Marinier)
What a good girl and like all my horses, no need to pull up after the jump,… just say: Whoah….😇

SO KEEN TO COMPETE FIGARO AGAIN THIS SUNDAY AFTER 6 YEARS !
It was then that I sold him and eventually he ended up in Victoria.
But now he is back and after one day of sheer excitement of seeing all his old paddock mates again, he settled right in and is again affectionately known as "Dopey" ( which he is...)
Let's hope that he will be the same at shows as he was years ago, alert and up on his toes. 💃🕺🦄
CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY FOR OUR HORSES.
As you know our horses live outside all year round but today was extra special as the hill paddock was closed off to recover and grow some nice grass.
When we opened it up, it wasn't heads down in the grass, it was a sprint and a dive into the dam... 🏊
Happy New Year to all the SPR Horses.
Enjoy your well deserved break and hopefully express your appreciation to us in the months to come ! 😘
If you would like to know more about our horses, go to; www.sprhorses.com
Horses in the dam are by; Bordeaux, Weltmeyer, Balou du Rouet, Versace.
Horses in the back are by; Diarado, Sandro Hit, Sir Donnerhall, Osmium.
KELTY AND BALOU WILL GET THROWN INTO THE DEEP END.
I suggested sometime ago that Kelty should ride Calimero in an ODE as she has often ridden him in conditioning training and jumped him around the Tamborine course.
And so she got herself organised, paid for her EA membership, entered herself and our dressage star for this weekends Event and started training.
Things changed last minute and due to unforeseen circumstances we had to tell Kelty that Calimero is not available but Becky is happy for you to ride her super cute BALOUSKA instead !
So today Kelty and Balou had a lesson with Jocelyn Park.
Both of them were doing just fine and Balou was strutting her stuff. ( mind you, Balou has not competed for almost 2 years...)
Good luck Kelty and Balou and a massive THANK YOU to her generous owner Becky Lamb !
MY FAVOURITE JOB, STARTING MY BABIES UNDER SADDLE.
And this time it is SPR Barbarella's turn.
This beautiful mare by BORDEAUX out of our SANDRO HIT daughter, SPR Joia, is rising 5.
She had a foal by the French/German super jumper DIARADO and now that he is weaned, it is her turn to become a riding horse.
If you look closely at the video, you will see that she has a bit in but the reins and lungeline are attached to the halter, NOT the bit, it will give them a comfortable and steady contact.
The strap around the rump is a bandage, the only purpose it serves is that they feel something moving or rubbing around the flank and it is nothing to worry about.
The sandbags on the saddle will get filled up more every day so rather from going to nothing to instantly carry a rider, we will build it up bit by bit and their back gets trained into carrying weight with ease.
Not long now until I hop on.
WHEN " EVIL ANGEL" MET VITA...
Lander's Angel was one of the last foals of the legendary Holsteiner stallion LANDER Imported by the equally "legendary" Gerhard Quast.
She was bred by Pip Creamer and eventually ended up with Courtney who kept her here for several years.
Courtney brought her and her Sir Donnerhall colt here for a lesson yesterday and that was when she had a chance to catch up with her old paddock mates but most of her interest was in the stunning mare, VITA.
Don't worry about the Evil Lion Roar, don't ask me why but that is simply what mares do...
A HUGE WEEKEND YOUR A YOUNG HORSE.
Our young horse, SPR Horatio had a big weekend away.
However, he was shown the way and given confidence by his older and very experienced sister Poesta.
She is super brave and curious and anytime you show her something new, she can't help herself and has to go to it instead of shying away.
We took both horses out for a Beach-Bush-Camping trip and caught up with neighbours Kate and Alison and old friend - assistant Jess.
Both horses had a gallop on the beach, conquered the ocean and had a splash in the lagoon
FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL FOR LUTZY-TWO,
MISS POESTA SHOWING HIM THE WAY.
It was a big day for SPR Horatio, aka Lutzy-two.
He is 5 years old but only recently learned to go into a float.
After a snail-pace trip down our dead-end road earlier this week we stepped it up today by taking him to Kelecyn.
Poesta is our number one choice to show him the way as she is super easy and confident when it comes to traveling and going places.
Just like she was leading SPR Figaro around at his first outing,
( mind you, it was her first outing then as well at the tender age of rising four...) she is now showing her brother how it is done.
Thank you Poesta for being so super reliable !
JILL IS BACK ON SHREK.
Jill has been part of our place for several years, both as a lesson rider as well as an assistant trainer.
Due to starting a new job, she had not been riding here for several moths but once back on her favorite horse, she instantly picked it up where she left it.
Although Jill is our most senior rider, all you young ones can take a leave out of her book....
Look at her steady and balanced posture !
It is good to see you back on your special boy Shrek.
LAST TRAINING FOR THE BIG WEEKEND
