GUESS WHO THIS BEAUTY IS?

As I am out of action for a while (broken arm) I will just have to tickle myself by looking at photos and watching others ride my horses.
Hopefully just a few more weeks before I can be back in full swing but for now Bec and Taya are taking over the reins and they are doing a great job ! Thank you girls 😘
I do miss breeding but still have a few young horses here to keep me in the competition ring for the next 15+ years.

EVERY ONES FAVOURITE SCHOOL MASTER.

This is "D***y" one of my Sandro Hit horses who after a competition career is now one of our school masters.
He is so good and tolerant for riders to learn the higher movements on but don't think you can just pull it out of the hat.
All the buttons work so well once you have got your balance, posture, body tone and understanding of the horses' biomechanics.
Without that skill you will still have a safe ride but having gained that extra skill and insight will be rewarded and you will get the elevation, lightness and fancy stuff.

Yesterday I posted photos of young Lutz loading for the first time.
Here are two clips of him going in for the second time, it took only 9 seconds!
The third time we turned him loose and he was in within 3 seconds 🙌

Next step is a little road trip🚗

FIRST TIME LOADING
and why didn’t I do it while he was young and small?!?

I like to teach the youngsters to load early in life as you never know when you need them to get transported for an emergency 🚨

For some reason I never did it with young Luzifer and now he is 17hh so any trailer will be claustrophobic😵‍💫

Anyway, today we gave it a crack by following my lifelong system:
1) Fill up a feedbin in the trailer
2) Let them watch another horse go in and enjoy the feed
3) Lead them in and enjoy the feed
4) Repeat a few times
5) Enclose the dividers
6) Put a second horse in

Good boy Lutzy. Tomorrow we will post a video so you can see how long it took.

FINALLY BACK COMPETING AGAIN 🏆

Two of my favourite horses put on their dancing shoes recently after a long break as both had suffered hoof abscess issues.
Fiyero was the winner, he had an abscess in three feet and Prima had a massive one in fortunately just one foot.
It did put a dent in our training and competition plan but now we are back on deck again so onward and upward from here.

Angelina is competing my horse “Hannes” this year and she is clearly well equipped to make him look the part. She does a wonderful job in plaiting him and lucky for her, he does have the perfect mane plait

WHEN YOU ARE 71 AND SUCCESSFULLY LEARN FLYING CHANGES ON OUR SCHOOL MASTER 🦄

Wow, Well Done Jill, you are a 🌟
It shows that age is just a number.....
You told me recently that your wish was to be able to ride a flying change by the end of the year.
You did it today so it’s well ahead of that timeline.
It was through, on your aid and balanced.

One more thing that I can soon tick ✅ in your

“TAKE TWO” FOR BALOU….
We said goodbye to Balou just a few days before Christmas when we dropped her off to Becky’s new home in Wongawallen.
Little did we know then that within a week we would be navigating a disaster zone to pick her and her new paddock mate, Denni, up as the property was hit by the cyclone on Christmas Day and the damage was shocking.

So Balou came back with lots of stories to tell but now she is gone again for the second time as the property in Wongawallen is ready for horses again.

Always sad to see them go…but a new and exiting chapter for Becky and Kenni is about to start

SUPER HAPPY THAT SPR POESTA IS BACK !

Especially Nick is so happy to have his favourite girl back and so is D***y!
He and Poesta were born just a few weeks apart, they both competed together with me for several years and ended up interstate.

I stayed in touch with the owners and was so happy when I was given first option to find her a "new" home.
I did not have to think twice and called Tormina as she had sadly missed out on buying her in the past and so some phone calls and a full vet-check later which showed how sound and rideable she is and transport was arranged.
Exciting times ahead for Tormina and Poesta.

It will take sometime before she will be in with the full herd but for now she is very happy sharing the green grass with her bestie Balou.

FLASH HAS MOVED HOUSE BUT NOT FAR…

Flash Looking Bandit is the first horse Gaby has owned and what a perfect first horse he is for her.
A medium sized paint with blue eyes and a lovely nature.
Gaby and Flash have been here for four years and they have done a lot together but now that life takes over, the cost of living goes up and it is all work no play, it was time to find another place.
Thankfully Jenni who lives in my street had self care-paddock agistment spot available.
A perfect solution as we are only a 5 minute ride away if you go fast ⚡️🏇⚡️

THANK YOU LUCINDA GREEN !
I have a new found enthusiasm for Eventing again.

I participated in an Eventing clinic at FTP.
It has been 5 years since I competed and trained in Jumping and Cross Country as we put our best performing horse into foal in 2018 and I got too busy with Dressage and giving lessons.

It was one of my riders, Stephanie Huntley, who prompted me to enter the clinic and I am so glad I did.
My young mare, SPR Evita who is a 3/4 sister to Poesta, only just started doing a few little cross bars at home but she really got into the groove of XC today and showed great bravery, scope, ease and calmness around the course.
I do love the sport and think I might enter a few Events again.

( photos: Evita as a foal showing lots of shoulder freedom 😆and a dressage shot, her sister Poesta competing at FTP years ago as I did not get any jumping photos taken today)

😘 MEMORIES OF MY COMPETITION DAYS WITH JOIA

This is SPR Joia, ( Sandro Hit X Falkrich)
She was the first filly I bred in Australia in 2005.
A beautiful horse with a great jump as well.
She also gave us two stunning fillies who are still here and she was a popular schoolmaster for those who were up for a challenge.
Ever so light if you got the balance right and a talent for passage.
Joia is now with our friend Carrey Hastings where I am sure she is running the mob.💪
We miss her but are happy to know she is at a good place living a horsey life.

🌸THANK YOU FOR ALL THE KINDNESS YOU EXPRESSED🌸

We are still at a loss after losing our wonderful mare Vita a few days ago.
It helped us reading through your messages and kind hearted comments.
A big thank you for the flowers and cards we received from so many.

Anyone who is part of the horse community knows how hard it is to have to say your final goodbye.
We are grateful that we could make the decision before Vita had to suffer any pain but her “Husband” Shrek and her grandson Luzifer were very distraught.
It took 24 hours before all the horses were accepting the fact that she was gone and walked away from her.
Once they left we could arrange for her to be buried.

Young Luz loved his grandma and was always allowed to share her lucerne hay.
It is therefor wonderful to see Balou and Prima being so sympathetic to this young chestnut and eating together with him.

WE WERE NOT READY TO SAY OUR FINAL GOODBYE TO VITA

She was so fit and healthy for her age and on track to give birth in 6 weeks time but a sudden complication meant that the most humane thing to do was to let her go...🌈
We and the horses are devastated as we did not expect this.

Vita came to us from Holland as a 2 year old.
This Elegant KWPN mare with Dutch, German and French bloodlines was a very modern type when most Australians still thought that a Warmblood had to be build like a fridge!
Over the years her elegant look, movement, sensitivity and athletic ability made her offspring in demand and we are very grateful for all the wonderful foals she gave us.

We will miss you and all your little quirks so much, like being a very talkative horse and sniffing everything out as well as drooling while you eat.😊
Run free Vita, until we meet you and all your friends again.

30c BUT I AM STILL FEEDING "WINTER" PORTIONS

We are heading into summer but given the dry conditions I haven't been able to cut down the amount of daily hard-feed and hay yet.
Lucky I stocked up on enough quality hay to make up for what the land is currently not offering.
Photo taken of a number of my competition horses as well as young ones, it was a few years ago when it was still green.

BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A COACH?... 👿

I just read a post about a rider who was put down by her instructor on every aspect....
To me it seems this instructor suffers serious confidence issues.

This is how I see my role as a COACH:
* The rider EMPLOYS me to give her a lesson, it is therefor my duty to be a GOOD EMPLOYEE and assist, encourage and give information to the best of my knowledge.
* The rider has the right to stop the lesson anytime if they feel I am not providing the service, information or work they asked for.
* Once I have fulfilled my task, the rider pays me for the service and does not owe me anything.
* The rider is not locked into a "loyalty" scheme or expected to stick with me.

I have stated many times, while giving a lesson, that I did not have the right solution for the problem and often got them in contact with another Coach, Trainer, Vet, Farrier or any other professional if I thought it would speed up their progress.

SPR CALIMERO, SUCH A LOVELY HORSE.🦄

This horse was so trainable, his mother was IHB Weltina, a black mare by Weltmeyer and his sire was Sandro Hit.
I truly enjoyed riding and competing him and at most competitions I got approached by people asking if he was for sale.
He did get sold and at times I really miss him but I do have a few relatives still here.

THE BENEFITS OF HORSES LIVING LIKE HORSES.

On the photo are 9 well bred Warmblood horses with top bloodlines like; Balou du Rouet, Sandro Hit, Bordeaux, Weltmeyer, Sir Donnerhall. Versace.

Because these horses are very valuable, we aim to give them the best upbringing as well as a natural life style once they are a competition horse.
For these reasons we created a property where we can keep them out on the land all year round as we are in sunny Queensland Australia.
It makes them very easy horses to handle, quick learners to start under saddle and train as they give each other "ground-work" 24/7 so they understand body language and moving away from pressure.

We humans CANNOT bring up a mentally well balanced horse, only other horses can.
By keeping them in a group with horses of all ages, we create a natural society for them.
It has also many health benefits as we never have any of the following problems; colic, founder, tight muscles, respiratory issues, wind-sucking, stomach ulcers, weaving.

THIS POST WENT VIRAL IN 2019 🙌
So I thought I would share it again.
The horse who "shaped" this bit was Poesta and so we gave it to her new owners to use as I have plenty of leather bits here for the other horses to put their individual stamp on. 😉
