In April 2025, Dr Chris will be running the London Marathon in support of a British Charity called Mencap.

Mencap provides support for people with learning disabilities and their families. Dr Chris has chosen this particular charity as his nephew Arthur (pictured) who he holds very close to his heart has Down's Syndrome.

Over the coming months, we will be running competitions and special offers to help Dr Chris fundraise. Keep your eyes peeled on our page and newsletter for upcoming events.

We are currently running a raffle - information will be posted in a separate post.

We also have a donation box in our front reception and any donation is welcome and very much appreciated

The easter long weekend is almost here!
We all know that with easter, comes chocolate and hot cross buns - delicious!!
It is important to be aware of the toxicity that comes with these delicious treats when it comes to our companions.
Chocolate, specifically milk and dark chocolate. If your furry friend happens to steal a treat for themselves, don't panic right away! You can find an online chocolate toxicity calculator that will help you determine if the amount of chocolate consumed is of anything to be worried about. If you feel that the amount of chocolate eaten is a lot, it is always best to head straight to your closest clinic or emergency centre.
Of course, you're always welcome to call us when we are open, or your local emergency centre.
Hot cross buns contain sultanas, which are very toxic to our pets. If you suspect that your pet has eaten a hot cross bun, or anything containing sultanas/raisins, phone us or any local clinic as soon as possible.
You can find our opening hours pinned to the top of our page.
Have a safe and happy weekend!

✨How to search your pet for ticks ✨

Using your fingertips start feeling through the base of your pets coat all over. If you feel any bumps, separate the fur and inspect closer.

Starting at the head and working your way towards the back can ensure you are checking all over.

Ticks love to hide in warm and moist areas, make sure you don’t forget to check inside the ears, mouth, and in between the toes and foot pads.

Areas ticks are commonly found are around the head, neck/underneath the collar, inside their front legs and the groin area.

Check out the link below for more in-depth information on how to search for ticks and removal tips!

Ticks can cause serious and potentially fatal diseases in dogs. Take a look at everything you need to know, such as how to find ticks, how to remove a tick, and how to protect your dog.

🐶 Retained Baby Teeth 🐶

Baby teeth that do not fall out during the first 6-9 months of life are called retained baby teeth or deciduous teeth.

Puppies have 28 baby or deciduous teeth that fall out during the first 6-9 months of life. This is to allow for room for the new adult teeth to grow. Adult dogs will have 42 permanent teeth. For this to happen naturally, the baby teeth roots must be resorbed in order for the tooth to become loose and fall out. Baby teeth that do not fall out are called retained deciduous or baby teeth. They form double rows of teeth, which can easily trap food between the teeth and double sets of tooth roots that can cause instability of the supporting gum tissue.

Retained baby teeth must be surgically removed under general anesthesia, to prevent dental problems such as:

🦷 Overcrowding
🦷 Plaque build-up
🦷 Poor jaw alignment

Early extraction means that the adult tooth can easily move into its correct position and prevent poor jaw alignment. Your veterinarian may suggest the removal of these retained baby teeth at the time of desexing.
