Stunning morning for a dynamic scope ๐โ๏ธ
Another gorgeous morning for a dynamic scope. This time in the beautiful GC hinterland. A bit different to the last stunning morning at Eagle Farm. Beautifully behaved gelding and great diagnostic result ๐โ๏ธ
Here at GCEC it brings us great pleasure seeing our clients and their horses doing what they do best, whatever discipline that may be. A fabulous run by Whiskey Train (aka Quinn) on a heavy track yesterday ๐๐ Well done to Gillian Heinrich and her team. I know who will be having extra licorice this morning ๐๐

๐ด We are now officially offering Pro-Stride! ๐ด
Pro-Strideยฎ APS is a device that takes a sample of the horseโs blood and in 20 minutes creates a solution of cells, platelets, growth factors and anti-inflammatory cytokines that help relieve pain, restore balance, and amplify the healing process once it is injected into the affected area.
This solution is enriched with the natural healing properties of the horseโs own blood, which make it an excellent natural alternative to conventional osteoarthritis and lameness management options.

Not our usual route of admission to the hospital, but we made an exception for this little guy who came in to be castrated this morning ๐ฅฐ
๐๐ฅ Welcome Crumpet! ๐๐ฅ
The last foal of the season made his appearance yesterday morning, and has already mastered how to use those long legs!
Isnโt he gorgeous?
๐ดโญMAGIC MILLIONS 2023 KICKS OFF IN STYLE โญ๐ด
Itโs been a buzzing start to the week with our vets assisting at the Magic Million Yearling sales! On Sunday Dr Rhian oversaw the horses at the polo and showjumping at the spit. The new Show Jumping classes this year added a lot of excitement to the day and it's an event we love to be a part of year on year.
Tuesday morning saw the annual MM Barrier Draw. Both Dr Rhian and Dr Meg were in attendance with ex-racing thoroughbreds enjoying a frolic at Main Beach, Surfers Paradise. It is certainly always a spectacle to behold and thankfully the two naughty ponies who decided to take themselves off on a tour of Surfers Paradise minus their riders, were back at home safe and sound not long after!
We are looking forward to the rest of the week and continuing to support this large community event and all that it brings to the coast.

Getting prepped and ready with the final touches for our client evening tonight โค๏ธ
Itโs not too late to let us know if youโd like to get involved and come along. Give us a call or send us an email and weโll add you to the list.
Tonight is a discussion around Poor Performance in horses at our clinic in Bundall. We will be reviewing some of the primary causes of poor performance including gastric ulcers, joint disease, back pain, upper airway disease & nutrition.
There will be pizza and drinks and plenty of time to ask any burning questions you may have.
The evening is aimed at those who feel their horse may not be achieving its full potential but will also be extremely beneficial for anyone whoโd just like to have a few extra tools in the belt when looking at potential causes of poor performance.
We canโt wait to see you all!
R U OK?
Today is is our national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that any day is the day to ask, โAre you OK?โ and support those struggling with life.
The veterinary profession has higher suicide rates than the adult population and other health professions. This is something we NEED to see change.
To our industry, we support you.
To our clients, we are here FOR you.
To our patients, we love you.
To our team, thankyou. We see you, we hear you, we care for you.
We feel so lucky to work alongside these beautiful animals, your beautiful horses, that fill up our cup!
R U OK?
We reached our target ๐ฅ๐๐
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated to the GoFundMe Northern Rivers Livestock & Horse Flood Disaster Fund. Tonight we hit the target of $200,000 - quite phenomenal in under 3 weeks. A special thanks to all of our fantastic clients who have donated. I promise these funds have already and will continue to go to help the affected livestock and horses in the region. Thanks a million to you all ๐๐๐

Magic Millions Surfers Paradise Barrier Draw
The last couple of weeks have been a busy time for our team at Gold Coast Equine Clinic! Our vets and nurses have been busily scoping and x-raying horses where needed as well as taking care of any routine or emergency needs of the horses going through the sales, as well as our client's horses out on the road. We were also thrilled to once again be the on site vet for the Magic Millions barrier draw at Surfers Paradise. Check out the video below taken by Dr Lukas!

Foreign body removal
***WARNING โ GRAPHIC CONTENT***
Jimmy the Standardbred had a wound in his armpit for about 4 weeks which just wasnโt healing. He then developed swelling in the area behind his shoulder blade. An ultrasound was performed which showed there to be a foreign body present, so we went to surgery to remove it โ and look what we found!! There is no denying how tough Standardbreds are!!! The wound was thoroughly cleaned, and Jimmy has recovered without complication.
