These little guys came to visit us yesterday for their first vaccinations and microchips before heading off to their new homes home 🏠

The last time we saw these little guys, they had just been born via an emergency caesarian section at our clinic 💕

Tick Season Has Started 😢

In the last couple of weeks, we have started to see a steady number of tick paralysis cases presenting to the clinic.

Tick paralysis is a serious condition caused by the neurotoxins in tick saliva. It can affect both dogs and cats, leading to symptoms like weakness, difficulty walking, respiratory difficulties and can be fatal if left untreated.

Here’s what you need to know:
🐾 Check for ticks regularly: After outdoor activities, inspect your pets thoroughly, especially around the ears, neck, and underbelly.
🐾 Know the signs: If you notice your pet suddenly becoming wobbly, weak, or unable to move, seek veterinary help immediately.
🐾 Prevention is key! Use vet-recommended tick preventatives.

This is a reminder to make sure your pets are up to date with tick prevention. There are so many different options for tick prevention now and even a new injection for dogs that lasts 12 months!

If you have any questions about your animals tick prevention or need some help choosing a product that’s best for you and your pet, please contact us at the clinic!

Easter is here! 🐣

And while our weekend is likely to be full of chocolate and hot cross buns, we need to remember both those are toxic to our pets! 🚫🍫

If you suspect your pet has ingested chocolate or hot cross buns- call your nearest veterinary clinic immediately. Prompt treatment (such as making them vomit) can help remove most of the toxin and reduce clinical signs and complications.

Just another reason to keep your chocolate stash safe and hidden!

Wishing all our patients and clients a safe and happy Easter.

We have some sad news to share… our amazing receptionist Hayley is leaving and this week will be her last week 😭

After almost 3 crazy years, Hayley has decided to embark on a new journey and while we are sad to see her go, we are also excited for the adventures that lie ahead for her.

Hayley has been an integral part of our team, bringing her compassion and unwavering dedication to the care of our patients and their families. I’m sure I speak for all our regular clients, when I say we are going to miss your smiley face being on reception holding down the fort for us.

Thank you so much Hayley for all your hard work the last 3 years. We are going to bloody miss you 😭

Hayley’s last shift will be Wednesday- so if anyone wants to come down and wish her well you still have a couple of days!

If you have been into the clinic lately, you might have seen a new face. We are very happy to welcome our new vet Dr Gatien Cremades!

Gatien graduated from Massey University in New Zealand in 2022 and has recently completed a 12 month internship at Veterinary Specialist Services. He has a keen interest in surgery and internal medicine.

When he’s not working, you can find Gatien surfing, diving or hanging with his partner Tess and Border Collie, Billie.
