Thor’s Bladder Stone Surgery 🏥🐱
Thor is an 8 year old male cat, who came to us as his owner noticed some blood in his urine. With a history of bladder stones, we decided to take some X-rays which confirmed a large stone in his bladder! Surgery was the best option to remove it and get Thor feeling better.
🔹 Slide 1 – 📸 X-rays before & after surgery: The first shows the stone inside Thor’s bladder, while the second confirms it was successfully removed!
🔹 Slide 2 – 🩺 Dr. Gatien making an incision in the bladder to access the stone.
🔹 Slide 3 – ⚠️ The stone inside the bladder—this is what was causing Thor’s discomfort and bleeding.
🔹 Slide 4 – ✂️ The bladder neatly closed up with dissolvable sutures, allowing it to heal properly.
🔹 Slide 5 – 🧪 The stone, placed in a sample cup to be sent to the Minnesota Urolith Lab for analysis. Identifying the type of stone helps us determine the best way to prevent future ones.
🔹 Slide 6 & 7 – 🐈 Brave little Thor
We’re happy to report that Thor is now recovering well at home! 🏡💙 He’s feeling much more comfortable, urinating normally, and on track for a smooth recovery.
