👂 Listening to you while playing 🐶 “Elsie was in her learning phase when I was working on this, so this is a perfect example of follow through”I allow my dogs to play at what ever level they wish to play at, PROVIDINGGGG☝️- They have their listening ears on being aware of me and their surroundings ( just in case I need to break up play for what ever reason )- They can calm down pretty easily during and after play - Listen to the other dog and how they are feeling about the interaction and playing at their level I have a relax noise which is my SHHH noise, and just like a distraction noise this noise only comes on when I want the dogs to chill. Really watch what energy you are transferring down your lead to the dog. It actually doesn’t matter what tool you use on your dog. It depends on how it is used and if used correctly. Like I say no tool is a “Bad” tool. It is the way you use it! You need ☝️ not soft hands “smart hands” knowing when you apply light pressure if needed and knowing when to relax! Knowing when to reward or width hold the reward. To sustain a neutral engaged level of energy on a walk. A lot of people correct dogs incorrectly. If or when correcting.. the aim should really only be, a light distraction noise or light gentle pressure each time. But if the dog has learnt to ignore you, pull, lunge and all those other fun things. It’s obvious the pressure on the lead will be a lot higher and more firm! The energy required from you will be more firm as well, and it doesn’t feel nice when we have to get to that level. No one wants to crank the lead and yell at their dog. One thing I advocate when you are out walking your dog or interact with them, NOTICE, what you are thinking about and NOTICE is there any tension in your body! If so where is it? Dogs are natural explorers, they want to experience the world and go on adventuresSecond thing I ask -Do you have a safe area for your dog to be while you are at out, a room, laundry, puppy pen, crate! They need a designated chill out area, where they can completely switch off and recuperate!For dogs who love a good bark during the day, giving them a smaller space is less stressful for them. They don’t feel they have to watch over the whoooole property and protect everything all day. Or start working themselves up by getting momentum when they hear something that arouses them 😱Third thing I ask -Is your dog eating a nutritional diet without added fillers and how often is your dog working for their food?
