Please welcome Ginger to the flock!! 😊 Ginger is a big, beautiful, fully parent raised Greenwing Macaw from Macaws And More 's very own Louie & Quillie. Linda from Macaws & More has spent the last few weeks spending time with Ginger, since having to move her to her own aviary after the parent birds kicked her out (there's no living off parents til your 20s in the bird world!! 🤣). Due to Linda's wonderful and positive interactions with Ginger, you almost wouldn't know that this gentle giant is fully parent raised! Such a calm, gentle nature ❤💙💚

Due to Ginger's quiet and shy personality, she will spend some time in one of the weaning aviaries getting use to other birds of her own age, before joining the older kids in the big open flight. So far, she's settling in beautifully 😊

MEET BABY MINUGH 💙💛

Late last year, we had friends ask if we could look after a young pair of Blue & Gold Macaws while they had to move house a few times. Of course that same young pair decided to become first time parents while staying here! 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣 Loving getting to watch them raise this baby beautifully though, check out the growth rate of this little piggy over 9 weeks!!! 🐷🐖

Hi Everyone! It's been a while since there was any activity on this page, so it's time to change that 😊 Exactly 1 year ago today, we, like most of the world, shut down our business in preperation for a lockdown. We thought it might only be for a few weeks to a few months and then things would return to normal - but as time went on, we knew that "normal" was going to be a long time away. We made the decision to take a break from doing encounters, photos and events... at least for the near future.

So what have we been doing? Well, of course the birds are still the centre of our world (nothing's changed there).... and they have been rather busy themselves... they've had a very successful breeding season! This means that the last 6 months have been filled with sleepless nights, lots of cleaning, lots of laundry, tending to tiny feathered dinosaurs - but also an incredible amount of fun! 😊 While some babies are still waiting to open their eyes and see the world for the first time, some of the older babies are now fully weaned, health checked, microchipped and ready to find their forever homes. But before anyone leaves here, I want to introduce you to them all! Please meet the class of season 2020 / 2021!!

It's been a big week for the feathered kids! Metcalf Macaws sisters Anna & Elsa (also big sisters to Kekoa) celebrated their 1st birthday!! While our "not so baby anymore" boy Phoenix (the Blue & Gold Macaw) celebrated his 2nd birthday!! Making parcels out of toilet rolls with treats hidden inside to celebrate the occasion was a big hit.... and a good way to show the people outside watching how simple basic enrichment can be 😊 Happy Birthday Phoenix, Elsa & Anna 😊🎉🎉🎉

A few weeks ago we had a very special young man join our family. This gorgeous boy is a Harlequin Macaw from Metcalf Macaws who was raised (superbly we might add) by Linda at Macaws And More :) Please welcome KEKOA!! 💙💚🧡💛

We would like to thank Linda for raising such a wonderful, well adjusted bird that has slotted into our family perfectly and already melting the hearts of his adoring fans. And while we're at it - ourselves and all our feathered kids (especially Kekoa) would like to wish Linda a very Happy Birthday too!! 😊

Last weekend our feathered kids were treated with a visit from Nino's Java - Javawood Product Australia and spoiled with some beautiful Java stands! The kids love playing on the X-Large tree, but the Java perch at the front of the enclosure, with sunset & ocean views has fast become their favourite place!

We think the Java trees and perches look gorgeous too! We will definitely be ordering some more for around the house 😊

We would like to welcome Lucan (named after Lord Lucan, one of the 12 Knights of Camelot) to our family. This gorgeous boy is already settling in quickly, he loves his cuddles and playing in the water - as you can tell by the photo! 🤣 Would anyone like to guess what type of Macaw he is? ❤💙💛💚

Credit to our friends at Alymara Macaws - Our Macaw Heaven for producing such a stunning, fully weaned, healthy, stable baby who is capable of accepting and adapting to changes very quickly. We are in love with him already 😊

If you want a feel good macaw story, this is it!

Yesterday marked 1 year, 5 months and 4 days that Zarzu had been missing for from his Melbourne home! His owners were left totally devastated but have been relentless is trying to find him. Yesterday, their determination and total dedication paid off. They found him!!! 😊😊😊 Zarzu was found 24 hours drive from his home!!! He had been caught and sold interstate, most likely because keeping him close to his home was too risky, given the heavy advertising about a missing scarlet macaw going around!

There are some lessons in this.

- Microchip your birds, in instances like this one, you can prove ownership. Or if your bird gets lost and an honest person takes it to the vet, the vet will scan and contact you :)

- Never keep a bird that you "found". It's someone's family member and it can be devastating for both the bird and the owner. Make all attempts to reunite.

- And lastly, be like Zarzu's family - NEVER EVER GIVE UP 😊❤💛💙

Last night we received the most beautiful drawing of a macaw from a lovely young girl visiting with her family from the Sunshine Coast. We were so happy to receive such an amazing present, so in return we in invited her in to have an encounter and photos with the feathered kids 🐦We hope her first day of school holidays will be one for her to remember! 😊 How gorgeous is this drawing?!!
