We are now aware of the post circulating around Facebook regarding the fire ant treatment.

No employee of Currumbin Fair Veterinary Surgery has made any offical comment regarding the fire ant treatment causing illness or death in animals. We have seen multiple animals becoming unwell shortly after being exposed to the fire ant treatment, which suggests and creates suspicion that there is a correlation between the cases and the fire ant treatment. Even though this seems suspicious, this claim needs to be further investigated and we hope a further investigation does happen.

We as a clinic were unaware of this post being created and published on social media.

If you do have any concerns regarding your pet being unwell please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We are looking for an EXPERIENCED and QUALIFIED Veterinary Nurse to join our ever expanding team.

We are a small but busy, small animal veterinary clinic based in beautiful Currumbin Waters on the Gold Coast. We are a very close knit team of 4 nurses and 3 vets, we also have very friendly and loyal clientele.

We are extremely lucky to have very experienced vets who are capable of handling very difficult clinical cases, Caesarians/reproduction and performing a lot orthopaedic surgeries.
We are known for our alternative approach to nutrition and some treatments, as well as applying western medicine.

☝🏽 Fact: we are in an obesity epidemic for both humans and dogs.

☝🏽 Fact: most pet owners couldn’t recognise if their dog was overweight. In one market research study, veterinarians estimated that 47% of their patients were overweight or obese – while only 17% of owners held a similar observation about their dogs… 😳

➡️ For some reason we can identify what overweight and obesity looks like for humans, but we struggle to do it for our dogs.

Miss Ruby Rose presented to the surgery this week after swallowing a beauty blender…whole.

🥺 After multiple x-rays, medications and treatment, we came to the conclusion that the beauty blender was not moving at all so we had to surgically remove it from her stomach.

Ruby Rose is recovering well after her surgery and hopefully will be avoiding ingesting any more beauty blenders 🐾

⚠️ Ticks⚠️

Paralysis ticks are out and about! If you don’t have your pet on tick prevention now is the time to start. (No excuse for cats anymore as there are plenty of products now that are tick prevention for cats)

We have recently been treating multiple animals each week for tick paralysis but this weekend has proven to be quite bad with 6 of our patients requiring treatment from either us or the after hours.
