I hate tax time when you are registered as a Primary Producer, it means you have to submit livestock numbers for tax purposes, so the ATO can tax you on Natural increases.
When asked how many horses I have, I always say a few, but this time of year I actually have to count them up and look at real numbers LOL.

So I had Greenbrook Wyndenvale in on the weekend, for a bit of a clean up and training session. He is now 27 months old and has had another growth spirt. Just a tad under 15hh, just the size I love. Will be exciting to see him at his mature height in the future :)

So Gatton is over for another year and what a Gatton it was. I made a call this weekend that I never though I would make and asked to be excused from a Supreme Champion Class. SD Bombay had Greenbrook Midnight Rose alongside him all night and Rosie was in season stirring him up, and due to my recent shoulder surgery I an limited to a 2.5kg weight limit on my left hand. Greenbrook Midnight Rose won Reserve Champion Mare and SD Bombay won Champion Stallion. SD Bombay forgot his manners and just wanted to go back to his mare so we withdrew from Competition and returned to the stables, no ribbon is worth blowing up a young stallion or upsetting my rehab on my shoulder. See pics below. I would like to thank the Committe, the Judges and other competitors for making it a brilliant and friendly great weekend 😍

So today I took SD Bombay out to the Burrum Active Riders All Breeds Show. It was his first outing in 12 months and he was a tad over excited and fresh. He still managed to win the following:
1st Best Presented Heavy Horse
1st Heavy Horse Stallion
Champion Heavy Horse
Supreme Champion Led Stallion All Breeds.
Could I have done without his over exuberance at times, yes and towards the end he was stretching out as he will not relive himself in hand even if he is bursting. Upon returning to his yard post classes he stretched out and produced an impersonation of Niagra Falls LOL I would like to say a big thank you to all associated with this show it was a fantastic day despite the intermittent showers. Also a thank you to the competitors of the Heavy Horse classes and Special Thanks Rebekah Melrose for the pics.
Results:
1st Best Presented Heavy Horse
1st HH Stallion
Champion HH
Supreme Champion Stallion All Breeds

It rained all the way there and all the way home however 90% of the time at the show was dry :)

Once again I have been asked if i could do a breed demonstration session at Gatton. In the past I have shared my demonstration time in the indoor arena with the Drums, this year I would like promote the versatility of the partbred. Who is bringing partbreds to Gatton who would like to be involved with their horse? Would like some different types of crosses and some pures that are both ridden and led to keep the crowd visually entertained whilst listening. And as per in past years we will have some on the fenceline to allow people to get up close and pat them over the rail.

A couple of phone pics of Greenbrook Wyndenvale today, now 2 yrs old last month and 14.2hh, love this big boy, will mature 15hh+. Wynn is out of Bob's Blossom by The Butler. A big thank you to Kate and Brock of Rylin Park Gypsy Cobs for visiting for the weekend and assisting me with washing my boys and handling some young stock whilst I am out of action with my shoulder post surgery. 3 weeks post surgery on Tuesday and another 3 weeks to go before I can start active physio on my arm, with a 6 to 8 month recovery. So I hope you enjoy the phone pics of Wynn as much as I do. Taken through the fence as he is an in your face type of boy, I edited the fence out.

I moved some horses around today, so I took a couple of phone pics of the foals. We have finally had 37mm of rain so the dust bowl is now short and green. I am really impressed with SD Bombays foals, he was given a selection of differing types of mares and stamped them all. We finished the season with a Ted partbred boy, more the type of foal I am used to looking at in my paddock LOL.

Greenbrook Wyndenvale, Buckskin / Tobiano c**t will be 2 years old in December 2023, but man look at the depth of body and bone on this c**t. Already 14.2hh, he will mature over 15hh. Had him in today to knock some extra hair out of him, such a sweet boy, looking forward to him maturing as a Stud Sire. He is out of Bob's Blossom and by Windenvale's Sire The Butler.

So stressful when you have babies on long distance transport. Travel safe Greenbrook D Anjou Illusion. I know your new mum is in WA both nervous and very excited awaiting your arrival. She has been waiting for months to meet her, yet agreed to wait till she was 9 1/2 nearly 10 months old before subjecting her to such a long trip. I love new owners who put the babies welfare over their own excitement.

Ok so finally got Frank home from hospital today post infection and heart surgery. Maybe now life may return to some sort of normally

02/05/2023

I don't normally post personal things on FB, however, this impacts heavily on both our personal life and the stud commitments. Upon arriving home from Gatton on Monday afternoon Frank was not well. He had a heart attack and was rushed to hospital in Bundaberg on Monday night by ambulance. After finally being stabilised yesterday morning he was transferred to the Friendlies Hospital for heart surgery. When I left the hospital last night he was stable and sleeping off the effects of his ordeal. After almost 35 years together the thought that I could lose him was just horrific. We will have to make changes to our lifestyle going forward and to his workload during his convalescent period. I may be a bit slow to respond to commitments and communications over the next few weeks whilst we adjust to our new reality, as his recovery needs to be my number one priority. To all our friends who have offered support, I am deeply touched and will be forever grateful. It truly is heart-warming to have the friendship and support of such lovely people. Also a thank you to my boss at Bundy Sugar for her concern and understanding as I was due back at work yesterday after annual leave for Gatton. It really is truly comforting to know there are a lot of good caring people in this world.

So Gatton Heavy Horse Field Day - Clydesdale and Heavy Horse Field Day is over for another year. I would like to thank the committee and all the Judges and helpers for the wonderful job they do every year to make this event happen. This year we had an interesting run into Gatton with the truck off the road and Greenbrook Wyndenvale getting sick and having to be scratched. He is still at the Warwick Equine Vet Hospital but on the mend. For the first time ever we rolled into Gatton with one Horse on our show team, SD Bombay. Bombay was out showing for the first time in two years and was a bit overwhelmed but held his own to take Reserve Champion Stallion to Indian River of Mountaion Park. Congrats to Mountain Park Gypsy Cobs for taking Supreme Champion Gypsy Cob with their boy. It was great to catch up with everyone and we had a really enjoyable weekend.
