"Adopting a greyhound 7 weeks ago was probably one of the best decisions I have made. I was initially a little hesitant to get a dog as I live alone, and work shifts, and was worried how a dog would fit into my lifestyle. However, Darcy has settled in beautifully, he happily lazes about in the backyard when I am at work and wants to spend all his time with me when I am at home. In 2 months, he has already made my life much more enjoyable and sociable as he loves his bush walks and hanging out at the river. I highly recommend adopting a greyhound!" It is with heavy hearts 💙 that we pay tribute to Nancye Hayes 🌈, Todd McKenney’s beloved 14-year-old greyhound, who brought joy to Todd for 11 wonderful years.

Nancye and Todd dedicated much of their time to showcasing the wonderful nature of greyhounds and the special bond they form with their adopters—helping inspire many 🐾 to find loving homes along the way.

Our thoughts are with Todd this week, an incredible GAP ambassador who loves greyhounds with all his heart ❤️, especially his beloved Nancye Hayes.

How adopting a greyhound changed UOW student Phoebe's life. 🐕🎓

We're love this recent news story featured in the Illawarra Mercury about 20-year-old UOW student, Phoebe who adopted Tina from GAP 's Southern NSW, program.

"If you're keen to make new friends, Phoebe Ryan's advice is to get a greyhound". The recent arrival to Wollongong was concerned about feeling lonely in her new environment but has found her new four-legged bestie to be a lightning rod for connection.

And now she wouldn't have it any other way. "Tina goes everywhere with me," the University of Wollongong social work student said. "My friends adore her and the amount of people who stop to ask if they can pat her is just amazing."

Mindful of the costs and responsibilities of dog ownership, Phoebe researched significantly before opting for Tina, the greyhound. The benets are two-way. Not only is 20-year-old comfortably settled in her new environment, but Tina, a retired six-year-old former racing greyhound, has found her forever home.
