MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM STVH ๐ŸŽ„
To help ensure your animals are safe for Christmas and to make your holiday away more affordable for the month of December STVH will be giving you a $25 voucher towards the cost of your dogโ€™s and catโ€™s vaccination. This voucher is valid only for December.
Vaccinations required for boarding include a C5 vaccination covering Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis as well as the contagious whooping cough like disease of Bordetella and parainfluenza (Canine cough). This vaccine is also recommended if travelling and staying in caravan parks or for more social outings on dog beaches, dog parks, grooming salons and doggy daycare.
For cats, it is for protection against calicivirus, herpes virus (cat flu) and feline enteritis called an F3 vaccination.
Please donโ€™t forget tick prevention if you are travelling to the coast, ask our staff regarding the yearly injection for ticks and fleas. If you regularly go to warmer climates, we also recommend heartworm coverage as this is a blood parasite transferred by mosquitoes.

Last Friday we had the pleasure of Dr liz and the team come to STVH to perform 4 orthopaedic procedures,2 tibial fracture repairs,1 TPLO and 1 MPL. Dr Liz also had a couple of very cute french bulldogs for BOAS assessments (an assessment to determine if they both need specialist surgery to widen the nostrils, shorten the soft palate and remove excess tissue from around the larynx).

Supported by the STVH team of
Nurses and Vets, all went smoothly with Dr Elise being able to scrub in to pursue her love of surgery.

These are the post op Xrays for the surgeries: X-rays numbered 1-4

1- TPLO to help pain and stability associated with cruciate ligament disease.

2- Left tibial fracture from a road traffic accident.

3- Right tibial fracture from a road traffic accident.

4- Sliding kneecap or medial patella luxation

We wish a speedy recovery for Cobber, Molly, Honey and Ronnie. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’

HAPPY VET NURSE DAY!

Here at STVH we are very lucky to have 8 amazing veterinary nurses! Our nurses are the backbone of our clinic and we couldnโ€™t do what we do without them. Our nurse team are all highly skilled, kind and compassionate. They are multi-talented people - doing everything from nail clips, to surgical assisting, to comforting nervous patients (and their owners!).

To celebrate everything that our nurses contribute, we had a lovely lunch from thaisomboongoulburn and a gorgeous flower delivery from gehlgardencentre! Please join us in thanking our incredible nurses whenever you see them around!

We have recently had the pleasure of Dr Zoe becoming a part of the STVH team, after graduating from CSU Wagga Wagga in July.
Dr Zoe has moved to Goulburn after growing up in Campbelltown. Zoe comes from a large family where she is the youngest of 7 children. Animals have always been a big part of Zoe's life. As a new graduate Zoe is interested in widening her skills and continuing to learn from the senior vets at STVH, whether this be in ultrasound, management of skin and eyes, internal medicine or cancer care.
When Zoe is not at the clinic she likes to explore her new found town of Goulburn and surrounds with her partner Henry and their 5 year old Labrador Freddie.
This brings our team of vets to 5 with Dr Mandy, Dr Maddy, Dr Elise, Dr Jesse with Dr Kim and Dr Simon regularly helping out when needed.
If you see Dr Zoe around STVH please give her a warm welcome. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฉบ

Meet Arya, a beautiful domestic medium hair feline friend who came to us on Friday for a dental procedure, as part of our Cat Dental Month Promotion.
Arya's teeth only had a small amount of built up plaque on them, meaning she only needed to have 1 tooth removed, which actually happened to be an extra tooth! Cats usually have 30 teeth and Arya had 32, leaving her with 31 teeth.

Preventative dentals, when there is minimal to moderate tartar build up, gives us the best chance to avoid extractions. Even though Arya ended up with an extraction given she had 32 teeth rather then 30 she still has all 30 of her usual teeth, plus a bonus tooth!

You can book your pet in for a FREE nurse dental check where our knowledgeable nurses will go over preventative options for you, from food, chews, water additives and even brushing teeth.

Milly is a 16 year old Domestic long hair, who presented to us with a swollen face and hole in her gum.
On examination we noticed she had significant dental disease and that her left upper canine was being pushed out of the gum.
Milly was then booked in for a dental procedure to clean and x-ray her teeth.
Once we had X-rayed her teeth we noticed as well as the super- erupting canine she also had a tooth root abscess on her right upper back molar which we extracted and flushed out to ensure it was clean.
The super-erupting canine was also extracted.
Milly was lucky enough to have her dental done while we are doing our cat dental month promotion and her owners got $250 off!

Cat Dental month will be running through all of June and July so if you think your cat may need a dental check, please call us to book in for a FREE Nurse dental check.
