Canine Therapies Warrnambool

Canine Therapies Warrnambool Canine Therapies Warrnambool aims to help your dog to live a happier, healthier, pain free life 🐾 All in a controlled, supportive environment.

Set in a brand new, purpose build facility, Canine Therapies Warrnambool is a unique home based business that has been designed to offer specialist care to meet the needs of local dog owners. This is achieved by providing complementary therapies for dogs who are recovering from surgery or injury, suffering the effects of arthritis and aging and for those wanting increased fitness or to lose weight

. The hydrotherapy service uses the benefits of an underwater treadmill to provide regular treatments, using the therapeutic properties of warm water to improve a dog's range of motion, strengthen muscles and improve endurance, all while reducing pain and risk of injury. The laser therapy service provides a painless and non-invasive therapeutic procedure that has been demonstrated to relieve both chronic and acute pain, via photobiomodulation, by stimulating the involved tissues and nerves. This increases the speed of tissue repair by increasing local circulation, stimulating the immune system and reducing inflammation and therefore pain. Both services are an effective form of medical treatment for a range of conditions. Please contact us today to see how your pet can benefit from the services on offer.

Rest peacefully dear Hero 🌈

We first introduced this cheerful lady at almost 13 years old more than two years ago in September 2022!! She was coming to us for regular hydrotherapy sessions to assist with reducing pain and lameness in her elbows, shoulders and hips associated with hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis, as well as trying to improve her overall mobility. We would have loved to have helped her even more with laser therapy treatments to assist further healing and to reduce the pain in her joints but sadly she had multiple myeloma (a type of blood cancer), which contraindicated the use of the laser in those earlier days 🐾

Over the past few years since her diagnosis, her extremely dedicated owners moved mountains to modify Hero's lifestyle to give her the happiest, most comfortable, quality of life possible and it certainly showed in her smile each sessionπŸ˜ƒ

Sadly, she recently lost her battle at 15 years of age but had her loving mum and dad by her side as she passed. She could not have had more dedication and loving care given to her in her final months supported by a team of all those who loved her. She will be dearly missed by many but we will all hold fond memories of this special girl ❀️

Rest peacefully Hero and safe travels over the rainbow bridge 🌈

In the past week we have had two very special boys come back to us at Canine Therapies Warrnambool 🐾

Many of you will remember Mustard, a gorgeous rescue boy who started with us almost immediately after we opened in January 2022 and continued to visit for hydrotherapy sessions right up until his passing at almost 16 years of age in April 2023. Tragically only 6 months after Mustard's passing, his rescue brother Hodor, who attended for some hydrotherapy sessions too, also departed this world under sudden and tragic circumstances. This, understandably, left his family in shock as Hodor, and brother Balto, were only 8 years old 😒

We have been blessed to have Balto start coming for regular hydrotherapy sessions over the past month or so, and last week, we also welcomed rescue sister Remy, who was adopted soon after Hodor's passing to help heal everyone's broken hearts, especially Balto πŸ’•

In a very moving and touching ceremony last week, on the 1st anniversary of Hodor's passing, we had the extreme honour of having both Mustard and Hodor's ashes buried by the family at our front entrance, alongside a beautiful native grevillea, so they can watch over all of the wonderful dogs coming for treatment at our centre. For Mustard in particular, this was his favourite activity for the last year of his life and it meant a lot to him to come for his regular hydrotherapy treatments and it means so much to us to have the honour of having both dog’s spirits here watching over us forever more. Thank you to his dear family for trusting us with your special boys, we promise to love and cherish them forever and look forward to seeing them daily and watching their grevillea grow 🌱

Please everyone, give your love to the boys as you drive in for your next appointment and of course we look forward to seeing Balto and enthusiastic helper Remy at their next visit πŸ€—

Rest peacefully dear Mustard and Hodor 🌈

Meet Beset Luxor 🐾

This absolutely gorgeous little rescue Pomeranian came to us for a number of sessions of both hydrotherapy and laser therapy to assist with the healing and improved function of her recently repaired right hind limb πŸ•

Beset, or Bes for short, was being fostered by an extremely dedicated carer through Starting Over Dog Rescue. She arrived into care with a number of other dogs and it was clear that Beset had not used her right hind limb for quite some time. The rescue group sent her along for a thorough vet check and what they found astounded everyone... her right hind limb had a severe and chronic nonunion fracture of the femur, it is estimated that this broken bone had occurred between 6 to 12 months of age, Bes is now 8 years old! πŸ’•

The amazing surgeons at Yarra Ranges Animal Hospital undertook the daunting task of repairing her leg with a locking bone plate and an uncountable number of staples! Due to how long the limb had been in this condition, with Bes not using it, she had marked quadriceps contracture and major thigh muscle atrophy 🏝

Our job here at CTW was to assist Beset with building up her musculature so she could obtain the strength to be able to fully weight bear on it quite quickly for the best possible result. As you can see from the video, she improved astoundingly fast, with her foster carer putting in hours and hours of dedicated treatment and play to not only provide physiotherapy but also to teach Bes how to be a dog again πŸ€—

Beset Luxor now has a long and beautiful life ahead of her, thanks to the dedication of her foster carer, who has now adopted her, the rescue group (SODR) and dedicated vets who all worked together to get Bes mobile and pain free again 🀩

Rest peacefully dear Bear 🌈

Sadly we recently learnt of the passing of dear Bear, a beautiful boy who came to us regularly for both laser therapy and hydrotherapy to help with improving his mobility as he aged πŸ•

He was then diagnosed with cruciate ligament disease and had to undergo TPLO surgery to both stifles over the past year. Sadly Bear didn't recover from the second surgery as well as hoped and he had to undertake multiple surgeries to try and get back to full function 🐾

Despite the full dedication from Bear's parents and his veterinary team, he was continuing to decline and the devastating decision was made to end his suffering. He could not have received better care and the dedication from all around him to recover and regain pain free mobility was evident πŸ€—

We'll miss your beautiful greying muzzle Bear and the amazing love and care from your wonderful family. Rest peacefully dear Bear 🌈

Rest peacefully dear Bailey 🌈

Sadly we recently had to say goodbye to one of our beautiful dogs... dearest Bailey who was also Shabbie's brother 🐾

While the family are still grasping the loss of Bailey after the diagnosis of multiple conditions, Shabbie and her dedicated mums and grandmother have welcomed a puppy into the home to help their hearts heal πŸ’”

Bailey will never be forgotten and his cheeky smile will live on for eternity but we hope the new addition will help to bring joy once again to the household πŸ€—

Rest peacefully dear Bailey and love and best wishes to your family during this very challenging time, we'll miss you 🌈 🐾
