Pedigree analysis of JASPER THE JET now at stud.
WHEN it came time for John Catton to name his pretty white and blue dog with the Group 1 pedigree, he reckoned he had all the hallmarks of a "jet".
So, that's what he got called ... Jasper The Jet. Greyhounds with names like that can tempt fate and not live up to the expectations their name holds for them.
That was never a worry for Jasper The Jet ... he was just that!
The son of Fernando Bale-Visualize It by Ivan Brown brought to the racetrack a pedigree steeped in Group winning traditions and he never once let John Catton down.
In just 47 race starts, Jasper The Jet won 14, was second 16 times and third three times earning $57,000. All his life he could run time.
He showed that with scorching runs at Albion Park winning in 29.68, 29.70, 29.75 and a 22.52 over the 395m. At Townsville he sizzled home in 29.68 during a Cup campaign. At Capalaba, he won in 19.80, at Ipswich over the shorts he went 16.79 and at Maitland he won in 22.34.
Along the way, he was second in the Listed Super Sprinters at Albion Park and a finalist in the Group 3 South Australian Derby.
Jasper The Jet always had a hype about him. Whenever he was on the track, he was the hardest to beat.
His sire Fernando Bale is a hall of famer right around the world for his deeds on and off the track.
"The Jet's" mother, Visualize It (Ivan Brown-Visualization by Surf Lorian), was a natural for a mating to Fernando Bale. On the track she had won the Group 2 Qld Futurity, with her litter sister Super Vision also a finalist.
Super Vision was also a finalist in the Eric Thomson Maiden. A litter brother, Iva Vision, won the Group 2 Sandown Shootout, Group 3 SA Derby and the Brett Memorial Maiden and was a finalist in the Group 1 Brisbane Cup.
With those credentials, Visualize It was almost a "certainty" to produce something special in a mating to Fernando Bale. And, she did!
Of the eight named offspring in the litter, seven were winners. They also included Alquist (12 wins, $23,000), Night Cry (1 wins, $13,000), Screen Shot (5 wins, $23,000), Spookie Vision (16 wins, $52,000) and Sutton's Lass (6 wins, $32,000).
Spookie Vision, too, was a special galloper making the final of the Group 1 Dapto Megastar, the Group 3 Goulburn Cup and the Brett Memorial Maiden.
This is a famous direct damline tracing right back to legend race and broodbitch Golden Fox and her just as legendary mother, the great Travelling Girl.
"The Jet's" second mother, Visualization, was a finalist in the Group 2 Vince Curry Maiden and a prolific Albion Park winner.
This damline is responsible for recent Group 3 Darwin Cup winner Mighty Marshall. His fifth mother is Pearls Are Tears the fifth dam, too, of "The Jet".
With such credentials on the racetrack and backing him via his own bloodlines, "The Jet" is being given his chance at stud ... and he gives broodbitch owners some wonderful and extensive options.
Being a son of Fernando Bale, "The Jet" is a natural for daughters of Barcia Bale who has already formed a Group 1 "nick" with Fernando. Daughters of Barcia Bale's popular and successful son Mepunga Blazer should also be tested with Jasper The Jet.
The fact Fernando's mother is Chloe Allen, a half sister to Jarvis Bale, means bi***es by Allen Deed (a son of Jarvis Bale) are also ideal for mating to "The Jet".
The cross of Primo Uno in Fernando is also dominant. Many of the best progeny of Fernando Bale have a double of Primo Uno. Champion Sennachie is just one. This makes daughters of stud dogs like Worm Burner especially important for "The Jet". Remember, Worm Burner's champion son Sir Truculent has a double of Primo Uno.
Ivan Brown is the dominant damsire of Jasper The Jet. He is a son of Where's Pedro. Naturally, bi***es by Barcia Bale are again a must for "The Jet" because of this. Barcia has Where's Pedro's litter brother Hallucinate in his damline. It's a proven recipe for success.
But, another extremely interesting cross for "The Jet" will be daughters of Dyna Double One the champion son of Barcia Bale.
What's so important about this?
Ivan Brown comes from the "Sannette" damline a line that has produced many great greyhounds over the past couple of decades, but none better than Victorian superstar Tiggerlong Tonk. And, Tonk just happens to be by Dyna Double One. So, putting a daughter of Dyna Double One to "The Jet" will go some of the way to recreating the pedigree of champion Tiggerlong Tonk.
Jasper The Jet's mother Visualize It is line bred 4x3 to Bobniak whose mother Paris Match is a dominant broodbitch in pedigrees everywhere today. Which means daughters of boom young stud dog Aussie Infrared will automatically suit a mating to "The Jet". That's because Aussie Infrared's damline traces directly to Paris Match and Aussie's best offspring are in-bred to this famous bitch.
Again, putting daughters of Aussie Infrared to Jasper The Jet will recreate, to a degree, Group stars Catch The Thief, Playlist, Ebby Infrared and Lala Kiwi.
Paris Match is also a litter sister to Pilgrim's Star and she is also found in the damline of emerging stud dog Zipping Garth. Daughters of his will introduce a cross of Paris Match and Pilgrim's Star to recreate legend Mantra Lad when mated with Jasper The Jet.
Visualize It also carries two crosses of Malawi's Prince in her make-up. And, we all know bi***es with lots of Malawi's Prince in their pedigree have worked to Group 1 level when linked to Kinloch Brae the US sprint Classic winner and great sire.
Surf Lorian is the sire of Jasper The Jet's 2nd dam. He works exceptionally when linked to Knocka Norris the cross found in champion Don't Knocka Him. Surf Lorian also works great when he is doubled in a pedigree. And, Surf Lorian has a successful "nick" with Fabregas. Bi***es with all these aspects in their pedigree are a natural for "The Jet".
Surf Lorian has also linked especially well with Magic Sprite. Qld star Cyndie's Magic is bred this way. Magic Sprite bi***es, thus, should be tested with Jasper The Jet.
There is also a need for "The Jet" to mate bi***es with Bombastic Shiraz up close in their pedigree. That's because he has done exceptionally well when mating to the Golden Fox damline. Examples of this include the famous full brothers Lochinvar Marlow and Godsend.
The impact of Token Prince in the direct damline of Jasper The Jet cannot be overstated either. He is bred on an identical pattern to Rumble Spirit the mother of Collision and second dam of Cosmic Rumble. Many of the best progeny sired by Collision have Token Prince in their dam. Thus it would again make sense to mate bi***es with Collision or Cosmic Rumble in their pedigree.
There is also little or no Brett Lee and Big Daddy Cool in the pedigree of Jasper The Jet. They can be picked up everywhere in pedigrees. A fabulous source could be via daughters of Zambora Brockie who is in-bred to the Brett Lee damline.
There are endless opportunities for Jasper The Jet to mate suitable bi***es among the broodbitch population in Australia. He has lots of dominant influences. He's getting his chance at stud ... and deserves it!
