So while I am cleaning the interior of my car, this Cocky is busy working hard chewing away at the tree nearby. Yes, he also loves to chew cardboard that I supply him with when I am busy 📦 💞 Sulphur-crested cockatoos will chew absolutely everything to keep their beaks, an important tool for everyday life, in good trim and other reasons.

𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙮, 𝙖 72 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙥𝙝𝙪𝙧-𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙮

At no fault of his own or the family, it has come down to a heartbreaking decision that he can't stay with the generation of his family that he grew up with. It has come down to needing a home at the sanctuary where he can still enjoy life for the rest of his senior years ❤️

The most heartbreaking but most committed family ❤️🥹 to have given this bird a beautiful home for the majority of his life from the age of 25 where he was bought from a pet store. Before the life he had with them, someone dubbed his wings inappropriately and hasn't been able to fly for most of his life from such a young age 😔

𝙄𝙩𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 as he recently lost his Mum, and Dad is getting old and is unable to care for him due to multiple hospital visits.

Meet Cocky the cockatoo who is around 72 years old 😱 One of our oldest known birds to have come into our care. He can still see and hear, but it does appear he is partially blind in the right eye due to age. That's 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙬𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙖𝙜𝙚 and probably wiser too with his intelligence 🙊❤️

𝘿𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙥𝙝𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙤𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙪𝙥 𝙩𝙤 100 𝙞𝙣 𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮!
In the wild, they can live up to 40-60 years.
His outdone the wild population.

I am feeling very emotional for wise old Cocky who outgrew and lost his family due to age. His not a fan of males as he does prefer the company of females. Tears of happiness, 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 $200 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙨 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙮'𝙨 𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣...
