More dog parks is good move

NAIRNE DOG PARK ON ITS WAY

Work on building the new dog park off Woofside, oops! Woodside Road in Nairne is set to begin on Monday 26 August.

Following a thorough tendering process, Space Landscape Construction has been awarded the construction contract for Nairne's new dog park. With extensive experience in urban landscape projects, Space has recently built some of Adelaide's most popular dog parks.

🌈 Crickets Passing 🌈

Unfortunately today Cricket our resident dog and 10 year running 🏃 partner of Catriona Bahr crossed the rainbow bridge. She loved the pats many of you gave her when dropping you own dogs off. Her tail was wagging to very end despite how sick she was.

Foster to Adopt!!

Hello, my name is Tom and my heart aches for a family of my own. I’m a total lovebug who has so much love to give. My heart hopes it can be with you!

My foster family say I’m a really special boy. I mean just look at my handsome face – it screams special! And cute! I’ve been on such a journey while at Scruffer Lovers. I’ve been in doggie boot camp and have shown I’m a smart and quick learner! During my time I’ve learnt to sit and heel. And my drop has improved dramatically! I’ve increased the time I stay in the drop position. What can I say, I just love to learn and show what smart cookie I am!

I do love my people – although my ideal home would be without children. I just get a bit excited and overstimulated! Because of this, I also need to be in a dog and cat free home. I want to be the only pooch in your life – so I can shower my forever family with love!

Amazing dog

The “long tongue of the law” has called it a day, with Police Dog Zeus retiring after 5 years as a member of SAPOL’s Dog Operations Unit.

Since completing his training course back in 2019, PD Zeus has been one busy boy. He was deployed a total of 636 times, playing a crucial part in the arrests of 89 offenders and cleared 150 offences.

Some career highlights include springing into action and tracking down two men after an early morning break-in at a city hotel back in 2022. Negotiating with three teens who took a car for a joy ride through Adelaide’s east, and tracking a man two kilometres away from a charity headquarters break in.

Senior Sergeant Ryan Johnson of Combined Operations Section says, “Zeus has been an integral part of the Dog Operations Unit over 5 years.

“While we are sad to see him go, we are grateful for his service and efforts to protect and serve the South Australian community."

Retired into the care of his handler Brevet Sergeant Neil Stevenson, PD Zeus will now be basking in lazy days, enjoying his walks and soaking up everything one of SAPOL’s goodest boys deserves.

While in the kennels Bella has been doing some training. Unfortunately she has injured her foot and needs a calm and loving environment to recover even if its only temporary. She needs someone who is home most of the time and to be the only dog and no cats. She's good with kids. If you can help please PM the page.

Whilst we can’t quite offer your dog what’s in the picture, on days like today we have the air-conditioner cranking plenty of ice on hand for cool water, sprinklers and hoses as needed for the dogs. Most importantly, we limit the dogs activities.

They have their exercise in the morning and then again, when it starts to cool in the evening.
