‼️ UPDATE 14/1 ‼️
Leif is safe in care and hopefully he can have the time to decompress he needs 🥺💞

‼️ UPDATE 13/1 ‼️

Home has failed Leif is heightened after he’s 3 days ordeal of being attacked.

He needs ANOTHER FOSTER WITH NO DOGS OR YOUNG KIDS FOR HIM TO DECOMPRESS

He craves affection and is very much a people person he needs someone who is home more then not and will let him be their shadow.

‼️ LEIF NEEDS A FOSTER CARER IMMEDIATELY ‼️

Leif has been adopted for a second time, and again within a day he is being returned - his foster carer cannot take him back due to moving - not because she doesn’t adore him.

Leif is an absolutely beautiful dog, but the resident dog in the home hasn’t taken to him being in the home even though their original meet was perfect.
Now Leif is heightened from the feeling of trying to protect himself.

Leif has been with us since he was 3 months old he’s now 10 months old.

Leif is deaf. This is important to understand.
He is a catahoula x bull Arab and is a large breed dog.
He cannot be in a home with small children he’s to excitable as he is still a puppy.
He can be with a playful, non territorial dog with the correct introduction more so on the other dogs behalf as he adores every dog he’s met. He can also be in a home without another dog if the owner is home more often then not, he is a great companion.
He is very much a people person, he can’t just be left outside and be excluded he will cry and bark. He is very sweet and loves affection.
He loves walks and adventures.
He was around cats when he was younger but hasn’t bee exposed to them since he was 5 months old.

WE ARE NOW IN CRISIS MODE - Without his previous carer being able to take him back we have nowhere for him to go.

Please if you can foster him contact us and fill a form ASAP >> https://forms.wix.com/r/7081957641982837654

If you are willing to foster to adopt please contact us ASAP.

Leif needs to be removed TODAY ASAP.

If you cannot foster or adopt please share this post. He is currently located in Diggers Rest VIC

Please help us with our gorgeous boy, he can’t keep being shipped around it’s traumatic for them to feel like they are so unloved.
He has gone through 3 foster carers and now 2 failed adoptions due to absolutely no fault of his own.

As Zoe has aged her manners have gotten worse and now, in what may well be her last year with us, she is firmly of the belief that she should be allowed to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants. Even so, when a four week old kitten needs a comfy place to sleep while mum’s off having a break, Zoe’s true nature comes out once again 💕💕

Update: both Jerry and Jake have found their forever homes. Thank you to all who enquired. We often have orphan kittens come through our gates. So please keep an eye on our page if you are still looking for your perfect new friend.

Jerry and Jake now looking for their forever homes

The gorgeous Jerry, in black, and Jake, in grey, are now around 8 weeks old and ready to meet their forever families. These sweet boys have been here at the Good Place since losing their mum at around 3 weeks of age. Since then they have known nothing but love and warm bottles so are super friendly. Both are house trained, playful and cuddly - Their idea of heaven is nothing more than curling up on your shoulder in the evening while you watch tv.

If you’ve been waiting for your perfect new family member to arrive, here he is 🙂 if you can commit to giving one or both of these beautiful boys a loving, indoor, forever home and are committed to having them desexed, please reach out and we can set up a time for you to meet your new best buddy

The lovely Kylie recently gifted us a whole tub full of goodies, with variety enough for everyone here at the Good Place - thank you so much Kylie, I’ll be enjoying the candle and chocolate for a long time to come I think 💕

My thought was to use the tub as a hay basket for those little residents who sleep inside and need regular fresh bedding - saving me the trip to the hay shed each day.

Big Ted clearly has other ideas though and has commandeered it as prime spot for keeping watch over his favourite hen while she lays her daily egg at the back door.

They’re a weird lot who live here 😁

WILDLIFE AFTER THE FIRES
Please Share if able ♡

The Department of Environment (DEECA) has spent the last couple of years creating a system and training up volunteers to be deployed in teams across emergency situations such as Bushfires. The teams will include DEECA staff, vets, sometimes darters, and wildlife carers/rescuers who have done the training. These teams cannot be deployed until the firegrounds are safe and no longer hot. This can take a couple of weeks.

The program is called WESN and if you want more information you can check it out here https://www.wildlife.vic.gov.au/wildlife-emergencies/wildlife-fire-emergencies/wildlife-emergency-support-network

Local Shelters to the Grampians include Wildwood Wildlife Shelter (Ph 0418 161 826) and Hamilton Wildlife Shelter (Ph 0409 187 625), plus some other shelters situated around Black Ranges and Stawell (don't have social media pages). Between us we have a network of carers, rescuers and transporters that can assist. Please feel free to contact us with questions or for advice if you find injured wildlife in the areas around the Grampians that aren't currently impacted by the fires.

For wildlife affected by the fires DEECA Grampians are requesting the following:
-----
"If you find an injured animal impacted by a bushfire, do the right thing.🐾 🐾 ❤️

📞Report it to DEECA by calling 136 186 or via the Wildlife Emergency App at https://wildlife.ffm.vic.gov.au/ "
-----

Be assured that animals that are found during the firefighting process are being taken to local vet clinics where they are being assessed and then will be sent to our Shelters if they are viable to rehabilitate.

I will reiterate that at this stage, going forward, we don't know what is going to happen regarding injured and starving wildlife. Please don't panic, we need to let the process unfold and let the WESN team do what they have trained for. Attempts to involve non-accredited rescuers, put up posts telling people what donations to collect, who to call, etc just complicates things for everyone and interferes with the system in place.

When we know more, we will post more ♡♡♡

Merry Christmas everyone 🎄🤶

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their incredible generosity this year. I don’t like to name individual people without their permission, but you all know who you are - those who regularly donate to the sanctuary, those who have pitched in to help when it’s needed, those who’ve given wonderful surprise gifts for the residents, and for me, those who gave to the Pets Domain Christmas tree, and those businesses who have supported us.

You are all amazing - thank you so much 💕

Trish and other the wonderful volunteers and donators with the Animal Rescues Appeal have once again sent us a gorgeous Christmas package with so many toys for everyone they couldn’t choose just one 💕 and some equally lovely soaps and lollies for me 💕

Please enjoy some photos of some of the residents enjoying picking out their favourites:

Another beautiful duo in need of a little help have arrived here at the Good Place - meet Cleo and Little Bean. They arrived a few days ago at which point Little Bean was only 1 day old. Cleo (formally Evie, but we already have an Evie) had given birth to several kittens, but all but one died soon after.

Cleo is very young herself and has produced no milk at all, so without help Little Bean would have passed away with his siblings before long too. Their owner had no way of caring for them, so here they are 🙂

It was touch and go for Little Bean for a couple of days while he adjusted to drinking from a bottle. But he’s now gaining weight and I think we’ve turned the corner.

So, a belated welcome to Cleo and Little Bean, here’s hoping they both continue to flourish. Perhaps they’ll even find a wonderful forever home together in a couple of months time 💕💕

Introducing the gorgeous Jerry (in the black) and George (in the grey), two very lucky little boys.

They were born to a stray mum under someone’s front porch, but sadly 3 weeks in she just stopped coming back to care for them. The home owner scooped them up once they became aware of them and they arrived here at the Good Place shortly after.

With their eyes just open and still not strong enough to walk, they would surely have perished if no one cared enough to step in.

They are healthy and strong, so it is very doubtful that mum abandoned them. Much more likely something bad happened to her to prevent her return.

But these boys are absolutely gorgeous and will make wonderful companions for their new families in a few weeks time.

Welcome Jerry and George 💕💕

It’s definitely baby bird season 🙂

Having released 5 little black birds last week, who were fully grown and ready to fend for themselves, another little soul arrived that same day, a little nestling starling. He was quickly followed the next day by another of his kind. Sadly, a couple of days later we lost the second one as a result of an infection, leaving the first one alone again.

Not for long though, as two days later a little Muscovy duckling arrived. These two have nothing in common but she needed warming up so I put her in the other end of the brooder under the heat lamp. Not one to spend time alone she quickly relocated to be next to a friend. They are now quite happily snuggling up whenever one gets chilly or lonely 💕💕

Only 6 days to go till our first ever market stall at Off the Rails Dunkeld next Sunday - very exciting !!

Please drop by and support our hay drive for the year - it costs a lot to keep everyone who comes through here fed and in warm beds and the more we can raise towards the hay bill, the more we have available for vet bills and other necessities

It’s all a juggle 🤹‍♂️

Our signs are ready, we will be the one with a purple marquee - hopefully we’ll be hard to miss 😊

In more exciting news I want to thank the lovely people at Pets Domain here in Hamilton, who have chosen to support the Good Place through their Christmas gifting tree.

We work every day to help as many of the animals in need in our community as we can, with Pets Domain supporting us, that becomes a little easier.

Thank you so much 💕💕

Hi everyone
I am very behind in my postings - my apologies.

But I’m very excited to let you all know we will be holding our very first market stall at Off The Rails in Dunkeld on 15 December.

We’re super excited and very busy making enough products for the day.

We will have a range of last minute gifts and cards - all very affordable, priced from $1 - $25.

We’d love to see you there
