✨ Don’t Be Impulsive When Buying ✨

Wonderful piece by Radiant Rodentry touching on many points that need more awareness.

One in particular is the learnt lessons and experience all breeders inherit on their journey - towards the shared goal to spread the joy of these affectionate, charismatic small animals. 💖

It’s easy to see how people and families can develop negative opinions about rodents as pets.

Personally, the first mice we adopted, a female trio from a pet store, made us seriously question our choices. They were petrified of us, untameable, and could not be handled or cleaned without sustaining bites.

To later adopting from a proper breeder, whom showed us that they are capable of loving wholly.

And to learn from that experience that some animals, no matter the love given, inherently, were not born to thrive with humans.

It is so, so important to set your foundations right. To experience that joy first, and not misery (or doubt, or resentment), for both the human and the animal.

These little girls are a delightful hand full! ❤️✨

✨ Our adored Agouti lady, VMM Wanda, infamous for her bold personality, has offered us this bunch of adorable Agouti dilutes.

✨ Paired with half-brother VMM Harrison (from our first litter born here), these kiddos are the closest linkage we have to their shared father TM Teddy (Frodo), whom was also our first stud!

✨ We cannot wait to see these beautiful girls grow up into their personalities 🥰❤️

✨ Yesterday was a big day to celebrate the end of a wonderful year of amazing people and their beloved companions ✨
We cannot wait for the next Queensland Rodent Fanciers event and the new year!

The shining star of the mousery is little VMM Clover, who took the lead as Best Pet Mouse in Show 🎉

Her mother is Amy, an affectionate lady that is sharing this special moment with her daughter ❤️🥺

Very Mice Manor would like to thank everybody that has attended and/or supported the QRF and us this past year.
It has been a lot of fun, and now as official approved breeders, we look forward to sharing some more photos with you 😋

✨ VMM Castiel - Angel of Thursday ✨

Meet our newest beloved Himalayan Texel boy, Castiel, whom is obsessed with squishy cuddles and chin scratches. 🥺❤️

He is the latest product of VMM’s work towards producing healthy Texels for Queensland. It has been devestating to see the texel genes here result in petite babies, commonly plagued by Respiratory Disease. It is something that the passionate breeders in Queensland have not been comfortable with.

Castiel’s mother is VMM River Song, a stone texel doe that had awaited until five months of age to be paired, carefully selected due to her robust type and health.
Castiel’s Sire is VM Aziraphale, a long-coat Colourpoint Beige from Verminselli Mousery and first generation from NSW breeder’s fluffy line at Twisted Whiska'z Rodentry.

We are hoping the combination of selected QLD heath, with an outcross to NSW genes, will help foster better immunity from RI’s, and improve the Texel lines in the future.
His curls are not very impressive, but that is not the highest agenda on our priorities, it is their health!

Big Goals, and Big Wishes! But this little man is proving that the dedication and perseverance has paid off. ☺️

Ever been curious to witness a bruxing mouse? 🤔❤️

Well, France is a very happy nanny and wished to share this special moment. Usually you would hear a mouse bruxing when they are content, especially when receiving cuddles and pats.

Nonetheless, it is fascinating seeing the precise teeth movement that is involved with bruxing.

It warms our hearts to see Nanny France so pleased, in light of handling a small gathering of bouncy toddler mice!

Although the weather here as been dreary, this little chocolate tan chap has lit up our hearts with his potential. We finally have harnessed the chocolate gene in the manor and we are so excited to bring forth the pretty varieties that will arise!

✨ ANNOUNCEMENT ✨

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to relocate ourselves and the mousery. With the unfortunate housing crisis, that is likewise affecting many households at the moment, the Very Mice Manor is no longer located in North Brisbane.
Instead, the mousery can now be found in the scenic Lockyer Valley; Hatton Vale, 4341.

Although the drive is a pleasant and beautiful journey, we understand it may pose as a challenge for north-Brisbane families, and would like to offer potential collection arrangements at QRF events, based in Mt Gravatt.

In light of this, it has been an incredible sense of freedom and new-beginnings for ourselves and the Manor. Negating our recent social media hiatus, the mousery is still with us and we are positive that many great things will be in its future.
