Hawkesbury Horse Heaven

Nestled on the banks of the Hawkesbury river this superb equine facility boasts twelve large paddocks with automatic troughs on the river pump. There are two charming homes, an early 1900’s three bedroom cottage with ducted air conditioning, a custom kitchen with a commercial style refrigerator and gas cooktop, a huge wrap around balcony and beautiful details such as the French doors. The four-bedroom Queenslander home is also air-conditioned with open plan living dining and kitchen and 360 degree balcony. Both homes have supplementary solar power and town water. The Queenslander generates $1000 per week through air bnb and we have a number of guests that return annually for long term stays over several months.

Set up as a stud and breeding operation for polo horses and thoroughbreds, there is a six horse stable with lock up tack room, feed store and two adjoining day yards. There’s also a round yard and arena with a mare crush.

Three additional buildings include a large air-conditioned and secure shed with two separate office spaces and roller doors at each end, an old wooden horse barn is now a hen house with roosting perches and built in laying boxes and there’s the hay shed and feed store. The property also features a magnificent historic silo.

Across Edwards Road the carefully planned layout provides efficient and easy access to all paddocks for feeding and horse movements. Fully fenced with hardwood rails over Australian made ‘Horsemesh’ and a number of paddocks separated with tree breaks, you are assured of safety and security for young horses and stallions. The 1.1km ‘set track’ that runs the entire perimeter of the seven back paddocks features a mix of hard and soft terrain as well as hills and corners that ensured the polo ponies were of the highest level of condition and soundness possible. A natural water causeway now runs under the roadway and feeds the large dam ready for the Autumn rains this year. Mature trees planted and nurtured over a decade ago now stand tall and line the paddock fences providing shade for all the horses along with countless climbing roses of all colours which just add to the charm of Archerfield.
