My young daughter and I have been involved in the breeding of the Standard Plush Lop for the last 8 years. We purchased our first Plush Lops from the Australian breed originator, Christine Toyer and have worked closely with her until she moved overseas in about 2015. She has since imported several Australian bred Plush, both Mini and Standards and is successfully breeding and sharing her stock with breeders in the UK and Europe.
We also purchased Plush Lops from JKHoppers Rabbitry in 2015/16, and have done swops with Daffodil Rabbitry and Binky Bunnies Rabbitry in the past. Our Dwarf Lops originated from stock from Malvina Lake, Heavenly Patch, and Dusti Bunnies Rabbitries.
Two of our Plush Lops, Applegum Blue Moon and Applegum Stormy were included in the Standard Plush Lop Breed Accreditation Presentation in 2017 in Canberra where the breed was passed. Applegum Umbreone and Applegum Dior were also invited by Christine but they were not in coat (moulting) so stayed home.
In the show season we are regular successful exhibitors at Shows held by the Rabbit Fanciers (NSW) Club, the Rabbit Breeders Association NSW Club being members and we are also members of the Plush Lop Society. We have also exhibited successfully under invited international judges at REBS(Rabbit Exhibitors Breeders Show) for the last couple of years. At this year’s (2018) Sydney Royal we received a Challenge Certificiate for one our Plush and also were awarded Best in Show and Runner up Best in Show Standard Plush Lop.
