UPDATE 8.30AM - Our power has been restored!

Due to the storms last night we are without power, phones, computers etc until power is restored to our area.
We will still be open and have staff at the clinic. If your pet needs to be seen or you have an emergency, please head straight to the clinic.

Nurses Honor and Bec, providing critical care nursing to one of our recent, beautiful tick paralysis patient’s, “Clover”, Clover presented to Selwood House Vets, weak, unable to stand, with increased respiratory effort. A large partially engorged paralysis tick was located, and removed from Clover’s neck. Clover was admitted to hospital and was administered oxygen and TAS (Tick anti serum) Clover was closely monitored during the administration of TAS and over the next few days until she regained her strength. Our climate is increasingly becoming warmer, and we are seeing an increase in tick paralysis cases each year in the blue mountains. Tick prevention is recommended, all year around. Our Last Drug order, prior to Christmas will be completed this Monday December 23rd prior to 8am. For clients with pets on regular medication, we are now taking preorders prior to Christmas. If all orders could be called or emailed through prior to Friday 20th December, 6:30pm. Merry Christmas !

We are proudly partnering with Royal Canin, to not only make a better world for pets, but for us all. Drop off your used bags of dry food, or wet pouches, and together we can reduce our impact on the planet! Each Thursday, our recycling bin will be available, in reception, for community members to drop in their qualifying pet food packaging for recycling! Can’t make Thursdays? Elvira is a little kitten, who was found abandoned at a work site. A lovely family took her home and started caring for her. After a few days she became unwell, and was unable to defecate properly, and she also had some vomiting. She was brought into Selwood House Vets, along with her “friend”, the toy Guinea pig. She was treated with fluids, worming medication, and with lots of love and cuddles from our lovely nurses. Elvira has improved and is now back to being an active kitten.

Paralysis Tick, under the microscope! Dr Lynn examined this little guy yesterday after a client from Hazelbrook, removed it from above their dog’s eye. Good spotting! Tick prevention in the Blue Mountains is necessary to keep your pets safe.
