Client spotlight 🐴
Name: Boof
In training for:
- Bucking problem
- Restart under saddle
The little palomino pony that stole the heart of every client that passed through - Boof has just returned home after completing his training with us as a kind, steady and calm mount that is eager to please. Worlds away from the little bucker he arrived as!
You will notice in the video that Boof spent most of his time ridden in a halter during his training, at first this was due the obvious fact that we never want to put a bit in the mouth of a bucker - but from watching his responsiveness progress it then became an intentional choice to continue him in a halter.
The end result was an incredibly soft horse that was safe enough to be a lead horse for a few of our breakers first rides out!

Nervous girl Charlee achieving big things!
A reminder that horses are natural prey animals so their fear based instincts can override at times when faced with challenges they perceive as scary.
We do alot of work with nervous horses and safely expose them to both new and old obstacles that they fear to help them build confidence in themselves and trust in their rider.
If you need help with a nervous horse feel free to get in touch. 🤠

An important tool that all horse trainers need… PATIENCE.
This float training session with Bixxy was in reality only an hour long, but it felt a lot longer with the amount of repetition and baby steps it took to get to the grand finale. The goal of this session wasn’t originally to load Bix, but just to regain confidence and soothe her nerves around the float.
LOTS of pats, lots of waiting and lots of positive reinforcement to encourage Bix towards the better choice. By the end she walked on willingly and was happy to stand for a celebratory moment and some pats (and some hay).
*Note: Horse float training can be very daunting for horses that have float truama or fear. Whilst we are able to get most horses on the float in the first session, proper float training is a multi session exercise that requires problem solving and repetition to build a horses trust for long lasting results.
