Our pups love their nurses & vets, although Bailea didn’t want to give our vet kisses after the visit today, but we smoothed it over with a game & treats 🙏

It is important our dogs like the vet clinic & the staff as they have regular checkups & if they are worried about going, it just makes for a more stressful visit for both myself, the dogs & the vets & nurses.

Thankyou so much to Hervey Bay Vets.. it’s always so humbling seeing the love you give to our dogs ❤️ so thankful you all give our dogs time to settle & build trust before putting needles in them or sticking fingers in their mouth etc ❤️ makes such a difference to their relationship with their vet & nurses🐾

International Assistance Dog Week 🐾

Shoutout to all the Working Assistance Dog teams or in training teams across the world 🙏

It’s not easy training an assistance dog, nor is it easy to own one however the difference they bring to their handlers is second to none and makes it all worth it 🐾

They provide support that some humans just cannot replicate ❤️

Assistance dogs deserve so much credit 🐾

🦮Assistance dogs 🦮

Assistance dogs are a very important & special dog.

While you might think they are cute, or handsome and like to say hello to them while in the shopping center or out and about while they are training, it is extremely important that you refrain from talking to them or deliberately interacting with the assistance dog.

This can cause potential harm to their handler as well as their training.

Things to do
✅ Ignore the dog & handler & go about your day
✅ you can politely say hello to the HANDLER but don’t stop them from what they are doing unless they stop to engage in conversation

What NOT to do
❌ talk to the dog
❌ try to get the dogs attention
❌ ask what the dogs name is then proceed to call the dog by name
❌ ask the handler why they have the dog
❌ try to touch the dog walking past or click your fingers to get the dog to look at you
❌ walk closely behind the dog & handler
❌ anything that would stop the dog from doing it’s job

There are so many times while out training that we get stopped by people and asked what the dog is being trained for.. and while I understand you are curious it is Important to respect the handler & dog and if they don’t answer you or bluntly answer you, they are not being rude, they are either training the dog & have to focus on the dog while in training, or simply do not want to interact with others. Please respect this!

The dogs are not there for you to pat & interact with..

Assistance dogs are not just pets, they are specifically trained to alleviate a disability - visible or not visible.. and they have very high standards to abide by while out in public.

So next time you see a team out training please be respectful & mindful of the working team 🙏

And while you might know the handler or myself as the trainer, it does not give you permission to say hi to the dog.. even if they know you, They are working !

Our jackets are distinctively marked with L plates for training teams & ASSISTANCE DOG.

Today our dogs took a road trip down to Caboolture to a family birthday & they were all nothing short of exceptional!

They were so happy to just chill, be socialised in a new environment with sooooo much going on. They got a lot of pats from many new people but the best part was everyone kept commenting how calm & well behaved they were 🥰🐾

The pups also got the best chance to do some new fun things & work on their “do nothing” skills 🙏

Just letting them take in everything while relaxing 🥰

What a week it has been for our wonderful team of therapy dogs ❤️

From our normal visits, to learning new skills, vet visits, to first visits for Hollea & FCAC open day 🙏

These pups definitely have a fun well deserved weekend ahead of them ❤️🙏

Had a wonderful visit with the Hervey Bay police staff yesterday 🙏

This was Hollea’s first therapy visit and she definitely stole some hearts ❤️🐾

Ellea & Milea joined for the visit and got lots of pats & cuddles aswell ❤️

Oaklea tried her paw at agility last night and I was impressed!!

She tried her very hardest for me, and enjoyed every moment! Safe to say this might be on the cards for an external activity to keep our dogs strong, happy & healthy!!!

Only thing she couldn’t do tho…….
Was resist doing her normal job, of loving people & letting them love her 🙏😍

Our dogs are highly trained & skilled for their jobs! They aren’t just any dogs

They come from generations of proven working lines & they are proof of that.

There is so much time & effort that goes into our program to ensure we can offer the safest & most effective therapy visits to improve mental health, wellbeing, attendance plus so much more 🐾

You can love our dogs, play with them, pat them, snuggle up with them, whatever you please during a visit (within our guidelines of course) they are also task trained to help students learn in different capacities 🙏

Everyone meet our newest member - Hollea 🐾

Hollea has come all the way from Victoria to join our program as a future breeding dog for our amazing therapy & Assistance dogs (pending all health testing)

She has the sweetest nature & cannot wait for everyone to witness her little tail go a hundred miles an hour in excitement ❤️

She fits in with the crew extremely well & we cannot wait to see her grow up 🐾❤️

Well that’s a wrap on term 2 🐾

Where has the past 10 weeks gone!!!!

What an amazing term we have had at 3 different schools, the police & many more therapy visits ❤️

The pups have well & truly earnt a break for all their hard work giving all their love & attention to everyone 🙏

They truly are the best ❤️

Thankyou to everyone that has had a visit from us, or booked some for next term. We are so grateful & we cannot wait to be able to spread more joy to our community with these amazing dogs ❤️🐾

Today is National take Your Dog To Work Day 🐾

I am so lucky that I get to take my dogs to work everyday ❤️😍

But also, some of you guys are lucky to see our dogs at your workplace during the weeks too so it’s a win win ❤️

Taking your dog to work does comes with risks tho, so ensure you have everything in place to ensure the day is calm & smooth for everyone..

Make sure your pups have been desensitised to the surroundings if possible, the noises that your workplace might have etc and ensure lots of toilet breaks & sniffy breaks to relieve stress of a new environment 🙏

Exposure & training for our Assistance dogs never ends!

ADIT Moose & Riplee has a session at the airport today! They did very well! Lots of noises, sights, sounds, new things & big scary airplanes.

They both did very well remaining calm, even when so many people wheeling their luggage by..

We expect so much from our assistance dogs and they deserve every bit of credit working along side their handlers in crazy environments ❤️🐾

Miss Ellea & Handler Leanne were very delighted to be presented this beautiful handmade card by the prep students at Kawungan State School

It is so beautiful that everyone can get involved & it teaches the students to be kind, respectful, thoughtful and to have empathy 🐾

We are very thankful to have this opportunity to teach & give back through our precious furry friends ❤️🐾

It’s comments like these that we get every single day that just warm the heart & make all the hard work, training & effort that goes into our program worth every second & cent 🥰🐾

Vet visits done ✔️

The pups love their vets and can always hear them coming down the hallway 😍

They are all healthy & happy 🐾

Thanks to our vets Dr Jason & Dr Meg ❤️ and the nurses & reception
Having our pups so relaxed at the vet is something we strive for. It makes our visits so much easier and makes our vets jobs easier (unless your squirming out of excitement like Riplee 😂) but better that than scared & unwilling to cooperate 🫣

Sorry we have been quiet on socials..

Our teams have been very busy providing so much love & happiness & having a much needed short break..

Little Riplee has been doing amazing with his training, only attending a few sessions to ensure he gets the exposure & training but not to much to overload him.

Oaklea & Ellea turned ONE on Saturday so we had a wonderful weekend camping & getting to see their brother & sister for their birthday 😍
