What a night!!

Some of our team ventured out to “Christmas Street - Westminster Court Kawungan” this year & boy did the dogs get some love, but even better, they gave out so much more 😍

From the noises to lights, blow ups, lots of people, all 4 dogs took it all in their stride & had the best night! Even meeting up with a puppy that we knew from puppy class, oaklea & Ellea even layed down with a few young kids for cuddles which was super cute! And so many people wanted pics with our Therapy Dogs 🥰

It was so lovley to hear so many kids say “oh there’s our therapy dogs”
And the amount of compliments we got on how well behaved the dogs were and how amazing it was to see how many smiles they put on peoples face was just amazing 🙏

Makes it all worth it plus so much more!

I am so humbled to be able to share such happiness & wonderful dogs within our community and all the training, breeding and hard work all pays off 😍🐾

Training doesn’t have to mean you must make an hour timeframe to train your dogs…

We do it while we are doing things around the house..

Please share around 🙏 useful info to help keep pets at home!

‼️Lost pets ‼️

It is quite alarming how many dogs have been going missing or been found in our region over the past few months. So I thought I’d do a quick checklist for you to ensure you have it ticked off incase your dog/pet goes missing this holiday season.. especially with all the festive noises, parties, fireworks etc to be expected over the next month…

🐾 are they microchiped? If not go and get it done, it will save a lot of hassel! If they are chipped, ensure that your contact details are up to date - most people assume they are but just check incase!
🐾 do they have a tag on their collar with contact details? Ensure it is up to date!
🐾 call your vet and ensure your personal details are up to date as well
🐾 are their collars in good working order - no corroded clips/buckles, tears in the material etc
🐾 is your yard escape proof - and yes including under gates etc, when a dog is scared they go into flight mode and will do anything to escape if they feel scared or threatened so do a walk of your yard/area the dog stays, and ensure there is no gaps, loose fencing etc to get out - try and do this regularly
🐾 have locks on your gates so no one can open them easy enough while your not home
🐾 if you have tradies coming and going put up another smaller yard/pen for your dog to be in or tie them up, or have them inside to ensure you don’t blame the tradies for letting your dog out - it’s not their responsibility! Accidents happen and most dogs see freedom and don’t listen to strangers
🐾 teach your dog gate thresholds… this definitely helps keep them in the yard IF a gate is left open.. trust me it works - so teach your dogs not to go out an open door/gate until you say so.
🐾 when on walks with your dog, as your approaching your house say “go home” every time.. they learn to associate the house with “go home” - exactly like how they get excited when you say “walk” or “treat” etc..
🐾 play YouTube sounds for your dog - fireworks etc on low volume first, to get them used to random loud noises etc leading up to the festive season..
🐾 keep them mentally & physically stimulated enough to not want to escape your yard - some dogs escape due to boredom, not just being scared, and yes once they get out once they will continue to get out as it’s a thrill & rewarding for them and they know how!!

If in doubt, crate them when your not home, or a safe pen they can’t dig out, to ensure they remain at your house when not home, however if your yard isn’t secure, that’s the first thing you should do to keep your dog safe 🙂

This is not everything you can do to ensure they remain safe in your yard but definitely some important things to help 🙏 hopefully this helps keep more dogs in yards not on the street 🐾

It’s not all work….

Our dogs are guaranteed to have the best lives any dog could dream of..

After each visit they get time to do what they love (and every dog is different) they get time to play, be dogs, get wet, chew, sleep & rest.

Our dogs welfare is our most important thing so ensuring they get “their” time for all the time they give to us is soooo important!

Enjoy seeing what our pups get up to after visits and just on a daily basis 🥰

If this isn’t a dogs life, I’m not sure what is 😍

This weeks school visits 🥰🐾

Christmas theme in full swing, little Santa’s helpers & elves on their missions to spread as much love and happiness as they can.. and boy did they do just that!

These dogs are just something else 🥰 as much as I know what they are capable of, and how much training has gone into them, they surprise me every day with their pure love and care for those in need, and make the extra effort to make some feel the extra love while also ensuring everyone gets a little bit of love.. something that cannot be taught, it all comes from the careful & selective breeding & temperament testing of these incredible dogs 😍

Bailea was having a week off this week so she’s been at home being a couch potato & keeping an eye on her farm animals ❤️

It makes me so sad that they grew up so quick but also so damn happy for all the lives we have changed since these girls came into our life, as well as how much they have changed my life 😍

Proud to say, that after wanting to do this course to better myself as a person and Handler working with vulnerable people with our dogs & training assistance dogs, I am now an accredited Youth Mental Health First Aider.

Handler Leanne also completed her accreditation aswell so we are both now fully equipped to help if needed or be aware of signs of someone needing help 🙏❤️

Something I feel more people need to be aware of and definitely something that ensures we as handlers of our therapy dogs, and myself as a trainer of assistance and therapy dogs, are a step ahead of the rest 🐾

What a year it’s been at Fraser Coast Anglican College with our amazing therapy dogs!

Not only are we finishing 2024 but this marks an entire year of therapy dog work with FCAC! How amazing!! And plenty more to come ❤️

Our trained therapy dogs have helped so many students and staff (and even parents) In so many ways, some taught, some natural behaviours.
They have attended many events for the school this year including

🐰 Easter hat parade
📖 book week
📝 exams for year 12’s
💉 immunisations
🎓 year 12 send off
🎄 Christmas carols and so much more throughout the year, along with doing their normal weekly visits.

They have helped with
🐾improving reading
🐾attendance
🐾the want to do work
🐾practicing their words & spelling,
🐾Building social skills
🐾 teaching empathy & ensuring none of the dogs miss out
🐾 helping with memory & recognising differences
🐾 building a good relationship with other adults
Plus soooo much more 😍

Thankyou so much to the staff & students at FCAC for an incredible year, allowing us to show you how much dogs in schools help in more ways than one, and contantly supporting us in this journey!

With more super exciting things coming for 2025 we cannot wait to share it ❤️
