Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is observed every year on August 28th to honor and remember the beloved pets who have passed away. The term "Rainbow Bridge" comes from a poem that describes a beautiful, peaceful place where pets go after they die, waiting to be reunited with their human companions. This day provides pet parents with an opportunity to reflect on the joyful memories they shared with their pets, to mourn their loss, and to find comfort in the belief that their pets are in a better place.

On this day, many people choose to light candles, share stories and photos of their pets, or even visit a favorite spot where they used to spend time with their furry friends. Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day is a day of healing and remembrance, offering a space for people to come together and share their grief, while also celebrating the lives of the animals who brought so much joy and love into their lives.

My brave, stoic little boy Oskar looked at me last night, and in that moment, I knew what he was telling me. My dear old dog, Oskie, the heartbeat at my feet, took his last breath at 9:12 p.m.

We were blessed to have his wonderful vet, Amanda, come to our home, allowing Oskie to pass peacefully in the place he knew and loved. He was surrounded by so much love in that one room, with Isabella and Darren by his side, and his fur siblings close by.

To all the families we support each day, I deeply understand the pain and the difficult choices we must face as pet parents. Oskie, with his gentle spirit, touched everyone he met at the crematorium. Even as he aged and slowed down, he always found the strength to greet you all with his warm, loving energy.

So much love in just a tiny fluff—tail wags, wet noses, and those cherished morning kisses. My little dog, my compass, my promise, forever my faithful accomplice. In his tiny paws and big saucer eyes, he found joy in the simplest things. He left little paw prints not just on the ground, but on my heart.

Happy belated birthday to my wonderful husband, Darren, for June 29th.

This weekend was incredibly special as we had our family together for the first time in ages. Our children, their partners, and our grandchildren, travelled from Cairns, Sydney, and Brisbane to celebrate with Darren.

Due to our work commitments and the needs of other families, we don't often get to see our children. Having everyone together was a rare and precious gift.

We were thrilled to finally meet our youngest grandchild, Chase, who was born eight weeks premature in March this year. Holding him for the first time was a moment we will never forget.

Thank you, Darren, for being the amazing person you are. Your love, strength, and kindness mean the world to us. We look forward to creating many more cherished memories together.

A heartfelt thank you to Hetty for making this precious family time possible. Your generosity allowed us to experience moments we will treasure forever.

Dear Ross

This is going to be a very hard week for all of us.

Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when it involves bidding farewell to someone as integral to our team as you have been. Today, I pen this letter with deep appreciation and gratitude for your unwavering dedication and service as our pet crematorium furnace operator.

Throughout your time with us, you have exemplified professionalism, compassion, and a level of care that transcends mere duty. Your attention to detail and commitment to ensuring each pet entrusted to our care is treated with dignity and respect has not gone unnoticed. Behind the scenes, you have been the silent guardian of a process that brings solace to grieving families, offering them closure during one of life's most difficult moments.

Your skill and expertise in operating the crematorium furnace have not only been commendable but essential to our operations. Your meticulous approach to your work has instilled confidence in our team and our families alike. Beyond your technical abilities, your empathy and understanding have provided comfort to those navigating the challenging journey of saying goodbye to a beloved companion.

Getting through the first Christmas without your fur kids.

The first Christmas without your pet can be truly heartbreaking. But the eternal bond that dedicated pet owners share with their pets never goes away.

Despite our pets being no longer with us, we will always be ‘fur mums’ and ‘fur dads’. We owe it to our fur children to celebrate the love they showed us.

It might be a little quieter this year without the pitter-patter (or loud stomping) of little paws. We may not have as many destroyed decorations to replace, but the first Christmas without your pet can still be a memorable one.

Remember that your pet lived in the moment. Take that life lesson from them and don’t deny yourself the happiness that the present can offer.

As another year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to all our families who have allowed us into their lives just for a short time to care for your very beloved fur babies, feathered friends and scaly friends. We have laughed and cried with you all and enjoyed the many stories you have shared with us.
