With the 2025 just around the corner 🥳
Remember to keep your pets safe

Bring Them Indoors
Get your pets inside early, long before the fireworks start. This keeps them safe and prevents them from running off if they get scared.

Close Curtains and Play Music
Shut the blinds or curtains to block out the flashing lights. Turn on some low soothing music or the TV to help drown out the loud fireworks.

Create a Cosy Spot
Set up a quiet area with their favourite bed, blanket, toys, and some long-lasting chew treats to help them feel secure and comfortable. An enrichment feeder or a Kong with a little peanut butter is also a simple and engaging idea.

Stay with Them or Arrange Company
Pets feel calmer with someone they trust. If you can’t be home, ask a friend, family member or hire a pet sitter to keep them company.

Check Their ID
In case the worst happens, and your pet gets out, make sure their tags have your up-to-date phone number. Adding a tracking device, like an Air tag, is also a smart choice for extra peace of mind.

Today we had the pleasure of being able to have not one but two training sessions.

Handlers and their dogs enjoyed learning new skills in both agility and tracking. We are sure everyone is enjoying a well earned rest tonight, including our assistant supervisor magpie!!

Big thank you to our instructors and helper’s for sharing their knowledge and giving their time.

Trick Dog Mock Trial/Practice Day
Hervey Bay Dog Obedience and Agility Club, Queensland
Sunday 20th October 2024
8.30am
Trick Dog Practice Day
The trick mock trial/practice day is aimed to give handlers an opportunity for a ring run through
where they are able to experience what it would be like to enter a Dogs Australia Trick Dog Trial
and to give it a go in a relaxed and supportive environment. This is also the perfect opportunity
for experienced handlers to use it for training for their dogs preparing to move up to the next
level.
How will it work?
When you register you will select the tricks you would like to perform and the order you are
going to perform them in. On the day there will be a standard competition ring set up and each
combination will have their initial turn in the ring to go through their tricks how they would in a
trial. The instructor will act as the judge for your performance, directing the pair through their
selected tricks. The instructor will then provide each combination with feedback and training
advice at the conclusion of their turn. After all participants have completed their first try each
combination will have a second run in the ring with the intention being they are able to put into
practice what they learnt from the first turn and the feedback they received.
Who should attend?
If you enjoy doing tricks with your dog, we encourage you to give it a go! This event is the perfect
opportunity to discover how trick trials operate, understand what judges are looking for and
develop ring craft for navigating trials. It is sure to be a fun morning for you and your dog!
Participants do not need to have all the tricks for their relevant level to enter but instead can use
it as a training opportunity for the tricks they do have ready to present (e.g. the participant may
only have 4 of the required 6 for starters level). It also provides a fantastic training opportunity to
test the dogs understanding of the skills and their ability to perform them in that environment
with the support of an instructor.
Cost
$40 per dog
To register for a spot please email [email protected] for a registration form.
Payment is required to secure your booking
