💙 The heartbeat of Eclipse Park Vet Surgery
While we are celebrating 25 years of Eclipse Park Vets this week…we thought it fitting to hear from the lady herself, Dr Toni!
What was your ultimate goal when opening the practice 25 yrs ago?: To still be here in 25 years 🤣🤣
What lead you to wanting to open your own surgery?:
I had been an employee for 10 years, there were very few solo female practice owners around and I felt a strong desire to do things from my own perspective based on what I had learnt about running a business, and to create a place that was fun and family friendly for the staff.
Please share one of your fondest memories had in the surgery over the last 25 years:
Too many to pick one but I guess if I had to pick one it would be the day I delivered 9 beautiful Goldador puppies by emergency caesarean in 2009. One puppy, Pepper, was given to me as a thank you and she has only recently passed away at nearly 15 years old.
You’ve accumulated, cared for and loved many of your own animals since the surgeries opening. What kind of animals were/are they?: Dogs, cats, horses, desert terriers, chooks, cockatoo, magpies, currawongs, various parrots, possums, frogs. Need I continue? Most rescued, some stay forever, some for rehabilitation and release. My place is always full of pattering paws and hungry mouths.
Any advice for aspiring Practice owners out there?:
It won’t be easy, it’s not for every vet but it is a great experience and there are many wonderful people and pets and wildlife to care for along the way. Do some leadership training. It’s good for you and those around you. Your team are your biggest asset. Look out for them.
