Meet Dr Gareth, the first surgeon in Tasmania to perform laparoscopic surgery!🙌

Dr Gareth has been passionate about small animal surgery since beginning his veterinary career nearly 20 years ago. He has continued to focus on improving surgical offerings to Tasmanian patients and is devoted to constantly improving his skills and surgical knowledge. After attaining his memberships in small animal surgery, he has enjoyed expanding his skill set but has also been focused on educating and mentoring other veterinarians in anything related to surgery. Although he enjoys all areas of soft tissue, orthopaedic and neurosurgery, his true passion lies in minimally invasive surgery. 💪🦾🦵

Dr Gareth was pioneering in introducing minimally invasive surgery to animals in Tasmania and has now performed thousands of laparoscopic, thoracoscopic and arthroscopic procedures. When he isn’t at work, wielding a scalpel or a scope he can be found enjoying quality time with his family. 🥰

This week, Suzie the Greyhound donated blood to help another dog in need. She was calm, gentle, and so patient throughout it all 🥹

Meet Dr Hannah. She may have been with TVH for a while now, but we always love recognition when deserved. 💙

Originally from Tasmania, Hannah grew up on a hobby farm where she developed a passion for animals and animal health.

She knew from an early age that becoming a vet was the career path she wanted to pursue. Hannah moved to Townsville to study a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at James Cook University. She graduated in 2017 and started in a mixed practice. She then joined the team at TVH in 2019.

Hannah’s favourite part of her job is reuniting owners with their beloved pets after a surgical procedure or hospital stay. She loves being part of a team of people who are so passionate and dedicated about providing the best patient care.

In Hannah’s spare time she loves being outdoors either hiking, mountain bike riding, running or walking her Golden Retriever, Ollie.

For those who have been lucky enough to have Dr Hannah as their vet, knows how much work and dedication for puts in for her clients and her patients health. We are incredibly lucky to have Dr Hannah part of our team. Thank you for everything you do for us Dr Hannah. 💙👏👏👏👏

Please keep your pets indoors if they are noise sensitive and if they are outside please make sure they can not escape your yard. As they will be Statewide, times may vary in your local area.

Please find below some more tips to keep your pets safe tonight
• Make a safe place to hide
• Draw curtains so they can’t hear
• Put on a radio or TV so they can’t hear
• Distract with treats and toys
• Make sure microchips are up to date
• Make sure they are wearing ID
