Marley the wonder dog!

Meet Marley, this wonder pup and his owner made an immediate trip down to the clinic the other week, upon hearing that a critical care patient required an urgent blood transfusion. Thanks to Marley’s donation, the critical patient has since stabilised, returned home and remains happy and well.

We can’t thank Marley or his owner enough for their quick response to our call out.

As a reminder to our community, we’re always looking for blood donor dogs to have on hand for these unexpected emergencies. If you have a healthy dog who is over 25kgs and is under 7 years of age that you would like to register as a donor, please contact the clinic on 6243 0083.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

MICROCHIP & REGISTRATION

Although we do not use HomeSafeID microchips in-clinic, we’re aware that many clinic's and adoption center's across Australia do. This microchipping company has become uncontactable, with risk that their current database of all animal’s registered through them to go offline in the future.

We encourage people to check where their pet’s microchip is registered, whether they’re patients of ours or not. This can be done through the following online website:
https://petaddress.com.au

If your pet IS registered with HomeSafeID, it is important to choose ONE of the following registry companies to ensure that you’re pets current microchip stays registered and active.

AUSTRALIAN ANIMAL REGISTRY https://www.aar.org.au
- Still awaiting confirmation from this provider for the transfer procedure from HomeSafeID.

CENTRAL ANIMAL RECORDS https://car.com.au
• Central Animal Records is offering a discounted rate of $11.99
• Pet owners can use the following link to create an account with Central Animal Records and follow the prompt to list online. https://car.animalrecords.com.au/user/sign_up

GLOBAL MICRO ANIMAL REGISTRY https://www.globalmicro.com.au
• Global are accepting re-registrations from HomeSafeID clients in Tasmania and are waiving all fees.
• Ownership transfer will require supporting documentation.
• Dual registration of pets is not usually accepted. Due to the unique circumstances surrounding HomeSafeID, they are accepting re-registrations for affected pets, provided that:
◦ the request comes from the same owner listed with HomeSafeID
◦ or includes supporting documentation verifying a legitimate transfer of ownership.
• Download form here. Complete form mentioning you have adopted from Ten Lives and send any documentation to: [email protected]

PETSAFE https://www.petsafe.com.au
• There is a $10 admin fee.

If your pet is not registered with HomeSafeID, now is a good time to check in with your current microchip registry. Ensuring that all of your details, including contact numbers and residential address are up to date and current.

If you have lost your pets microchip number, please don’t hesitate to contact us to organise for your pet to be scanned at the clinic on 6243 0083.

5 Steps to help with anxious pets this New Year’s Eve.

1. Please make sure pets are secure, with access to essentials if you are planning on heading out for the festivities.

2. If your pets are inside, then try closing the curtains to keep the light from fireworks out.

3. Leaving the TV or radio on may help to muffle the noise from outside celebrations.

4. Interactive feeders are a great source of distraction.

5. A walk in today's beautiful sunshine might help burn off any extra energy before the evening comes.
