It's the home of Hobart City Farm and while it doesn't look like much now it is being transformed into an abundant farm providing the best, freshest produce right in the heart of the city. 58, we’re walking back onto farm land and re-embracing one of the most important jobs in the world. But why? We’re passionate about investing in local and regional food systems so we know we have reliable access to nutritious and diverse range of food. We see growing food in the heart of the community as a key method to rebuild connections to where food comes from and the people who grow it. We’re committed to ensuring that the following generations have the understanding and knowledge of the important role food plays in vibrant and resilient communities. In addition to producing food, the Farm will grow community through offering workshops on and off the farm in Permaculture, food production and composting (to name a few). Through harvest festivals, skill shares and celebrations, we will ensure you can all stay connected with seasonal events while actively support our farming enterprise. The Hobart City Farm will employ local Tasmanians, creating meaningful livelihoods for individuals. However, we’re looking and thinking beyond our farm gate and will partner with other go-getters to provide training in small-hold farming. We hold a deep commitment to support others to gain the skills they need to get them started on the path to being farmers. We have the experience, we have the passion and we have the tools.
