Wow! What an up & down time we’ve had on a personal level over the last 5 weeks!
Firstly, I want to thank all of you that have been patient & understanding over my grooming time change. As of next week, it will be all back to normal.
I also want to send a massive hug to those that sent hope, love and prayers during our time of need. You helped to keep us strong ❤️ Mums now in Hampstead & we are in disbelief at how far she has come.
The show week was an “up” moment for us 😀 We showed some of our Devon Rex and Moggies at the Royal.
Reserve Devon Rex Entire with a girl we bred, Best Devon Rex kitten (pictured) with another girl we bred (she also got Best owner bred & Best Personality) and then our beloved, once feral moggies continued on their amazing journey with Poppy winning Best Domestic Neuter & then going on to win Reserve Domestic Exhibit in Show! Fern took out 3rd Best Domestic Neuter Female. So we are very proud of our country furkids! 😍
I’d love to bring back to life a country cat club as a Domestic/Companion cat club and have a yearly show in the Riverland. Yes, you’d be able to show off your beautiful kitties. Do you think this could work?? Please let me know if you’d like to be a part of re-establishing this club.

Hi Furry Kid Family,
Last Sunday (6th) Mum suffered a massive stroke. Due to her quick thinking & the quick thinking of the Waikerie Paramedics & then the care at Berri Hospital, they safely got her to the RAH. She’s a tough cookie as you all know & although it’s going to be a long road to recovery, we have so much faith in the stroke team & Mum, we know she won’t stop til she can come home! We have a photo of her beloved Dino on her table & she’s missing him terribly.

In the meantime, I will be grooming fortnightly. This won’t cause any problems for you. I will just (with Charlotte) work a little harder.

Boarding is still operating as usual with Greg’s help. He’s great with all of the pets & they like him a lot, so you have no problems there either.

I’m hoping that you may know some of the people I want to give a virtual hug to. If you do, please let them know.

Having worked at AWL where most of the Parvo dogs came from the Riverland, I can’t stress it enough - keep your dogs vaccinations up to date.
Parvo is the most revolting virus I’ve seen. It’s a cruel virus but it can be prevented.

Also, with the amount of mosquitoes around - keep on top of heartworm in your dogs, by using prevention too! Yearly injections have been available for years.

🦠PARVOVIRUS WARNING FOR THE RIVERLAND AND MALLEE!!🦠

We have been seeing an increased number of Parvovirus cases over the last 4 days, and so we thought we would answer some of the questions we frequently get asked about this disease.

Firstly if you are concerned about your pet please CALL us before showing up. As parvo is highly contagious we need to ensure the safety of all our patients and ensure we are following infection procedures on all suspected cases.

Parvovirus or Parvo is a highly infectious disease that attacks the gastrointestinal tract and cardiovascular system of dogs. It is very contagious and is resistant to heat, detergents and alcohol, and so can remain in the environment for years after an infected dog has been there.

The incubation period for Parvo is up to 14 days this means that it can take up to 2 weeks after being infected for your pet to show symptoms of the disease.

Parvo is easily transferred via the hair or faeces of contaminated dogs or foxes, or on the shoes and clothes of people. This means that even if your dog never leaves your backyard, it can be still be exposed to the virus.

Symptoms of Parvo include bloody diarrhoea, being off food, vomiting and lethargy. It is more commonly seen in dogs under 1 year old, but unvaccinated dogs of all ages can be effected.

The great news is that Parvo is an easily preventable disease. Getting your puppy vaccinated💉 at 6 - 8, 12 and 14 - 16 weeks old, and then making sure they get their annual booster vaccination every year will ensure they have the highest amount of protection from the disease

Remember not to walk your new puppy around the neighbourhood, dog-park or river until 10 days after their 16 week vaccination to ensure they have the highest amount of protection possible.

I can’t take many more grooming clients. I’m sorry. I wish there was more of me but I need to also play 💕 with my kids that visit.
We are a small boarding establishment & pride ourselves on that!

This Spring has been the worst I’ve seen when it comes to grass seeds in the dogs I groom, so I’ve decided to offer owners the use of my Grooming Room on Saturday 20th November.

🐶 Self-Service Dog wash & blow dry 🐶
Appointment times available between 9.30am & 12.30pm, in 1/2 hourly blocks.

$25 for 30 minutes & includes everything you will need to bath and dry your dog. Groomers Edge shampoo (aromatic, whitening, grimeinator or sensitive skin). The use of a grooming table & of course, a professional dog dryer.

The beauty of using a professional dryer is that you can see what is happening on the skin of your dog.

Appointments are required & must be booked via the booking app on this page.

Once again the year has flown! I have 7 weeks of grooming left before I take 3 weeks off, so please book your appointment asap (my last day is Dec 22nd).

Christmas boarding is $30/day per dog, per day. I’ve still got a couple of small dog places left. Minimum 5 days (Office hours: 9am to 4.30).
Cats are fully booked.

I get really excited baking their Christmas treats (biscuits & ice cream) to help make their stay even more fun !! 🐶

Check-out is STRICTLY between 9am & 11am.
I will also no longer put up with BARKERS OR BITERS! If your dog is either of these, please do not ask us to look after it.
This is for the safety & comfort of nice dogs, neighbours & US!

How does a dog become a favourite here?
I guess, when they stay on a regular basis and start to become like a member of my four-legged crew. It also helps if they aren't hard work and are fun to play with....

On Friday, 4th October, one of my favourite boys made the ride over Rainbow Bridge. It was a heartbreaking thing for me, let alone his very loving parents. Darling "Rule" suffered toxicity poisoning after eating a smoked fish treat. He only ate half of it before he started frothing at the mouth and then the vomiting set in - and wouldn't stop.
His parents took him to Berri Vet (after hours) as they were so worried. Sadly, the toxin he had ingested caused irreversible side-effects, including renal failure. For two weeks they fought to get him better.

It's taken me until tonight, after his toxicology results came back, to be able to beg you all not to feed "fish treats". Most of these treats are shark and we all know that their numbers are being depleted due to exploitation by fishing companies.
If you need to give your dog Glucosamine or Chondroitin, there are far more ethical ways to get it, it doesn't need to be shark based.

As a treat, would you eat dried fish that someone was selling without anything except for the name? It's been well documented (& recalls done) when a chicken jerky brand caused dogs to die. Please, please, be careful of what you think your dog will love to try! Ask yourself whether you would dare to eat it AND think about whether the killing of that animal is stuffing up the natural food chain.

RIP Rule! You will always be a legend to me ❤️

To my friends that live in other parts of the LWDC area, your emailed support would be loved. The Fauna Park needs saving & upgrading, not closed down with the animals being dumped on a rescue group in Eudunda.

My sister's German Shepherd had a massive reaction to Bravecto. In saying that, I know of other dogs that have been on it, with no reactions.
The time frame that it's actually in their bodies is something to consider - or, just stick with the old favourites, Advantage or Frontline..... OR, try the new Tooza Zoo pet range I'm stocking! 😁
