Moose our young Labrador x Border Collie is now ready to sniff out his perfectly matched new home.

Please read carefully Moose's profile before contacting us.

Moose is 80% Labrador in personality and 20% Border Collie. Moose LOVES his food and is treat driven.

Moose is 1 year 2 months of age (DOB 30/10/23) but every bit a puppy still. He is a lover of water and dog social. Moose can be a little complex so needs the right home for him to continue to develop. Currently Moose is on anti-anxiety medication and we anticipate this will be a long term requirement.

The home we are looking for to match Mooses Needs is:

✅️ An understanding and patient home.
✅️ A home with a couple or a family with teenage age or above children.
✅️ An home that can provide Moose with clear and consistent boundaries and rules.
✅️ An inside outside home. Moose sleeps inside but loves time outside too.
✅️ A home that is relatively quiet without too many visitors coming and going.
✅️ A home that is receptive to continuing Moose's medication routine, offering him a safe space such as a crate he can remove himself too if feeling overwhelmed. Moose is able to regulate his emotions.
✅️ A home that has another social dog or the opportunity to have regular play dates with another dog.
✅️ Geographically - a home not next to a school or child care centre (Moose gets a bit stressed with lots of child related noises - kids being kids - lots of chatter, squeals & screams).
✅️ Maintain Mooses diet of Savourlife ocean fish dryfood.
❌️ No cats or pocket pets please.

Moose is a brilliant, smart and happy boy. He just needs the right home. He is up to date with vaccinations, desexed, flea & worm treated and microchipped.

Moose's adoption fee is $650.

If your interested in knowing about the magnificent Moose please contact Carolyn on 0427 221 231.

It’s definitely that time of year when dog owners know only too well that when out walking, exploring or travelling at some point your dog’s going to encounter grass seeds. I know when I’ve been out walking my doggie clients and with Morgan, grass seeds are everywhere!

Why is this such an issue? Grass seeds have sharp, pointy ends that become trapped in your dog’s fur, they can burrow down and pierce through their skin. Common areas are paws, ears, eyes and nose.
If your dog becomes injured by a grass seed or multiple grass seeds, it can be very painful.

How to protect your dog from grass seeds … practice regular grooming by keeping their coat well-maintained, this will help to reduce grass seeds from getting trapped. Avoid high grass seed areas when out with your beloved fur family. After every walk inspect your dog’s paws, ears, coat and nose.

If you see your dog excessively licking a certain area, shaking their head or have a head tilt, sneezing or snorting consult your vet clinic as soon as possible.

Happy adventuring and let’s try to keep our fur buddies grass seed free. 🐾❤️

Together we can ensure Buzz finds his people and forever home! ❤️

Could Buzz the blue and tan kelpie be the best friend you've been waiting for?

This awesome dog is around 12 months old, and is going to make the very best, most faithful companion to someone who has the time to keep him stimulated and well exercised.

Buzz had a bit of a rough time while learning to be a sheep dog (and being deemed unsuitable), so can be a bit wary of people to start with, but once he knows you, he will happily trot around right next to you, waiting to be told what's expected of him.

Buzz is great with other dogs, but is distracted by them, and just loves to play, so if with another dog, it would need to be energetic and patient! Buzz is not suited to town life, and has been successfully tested with goats, chooks and horses.

Buzz's adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated.

I don’t generally weigh in publicly on dog/animal tv shows, but this further cements my own views as to why I don’t watch/like/recommend them. Please be careful and considered when choosing content to watch and learn from, your dogs mental health and wellbeing depend on it. 🐾❤️

Yesterday, I received the following email from a researcher for the TV programme *Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly*:

"𝑀𝑦 𝑛𝑎𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑠 (redacted) 𝐼 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑇𝑉 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑤 ‘𝐷𝑜𝑔𝑠 𝐵𝑒ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 (𝑉𝑒𝑟𝑦) 𝐵𝑎𝑑𝑙𝑦’.

My first thought was to delete the email. I'm not a fan of Graeme Hall. I've watched a few episodes of his show, and in my opinion, he seems to make things up as he goes along, relying on outdated training methods.

However, I was puzzled. Was the “cravat” unwell, and they needed a stand-in? I'm a nobody – why on earth would they want to film me training a dog when there are so many high-profile trainers out there? Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to give the researcher a call.

I'm still in shock as I write this. The researcher explained that they wanted to invite me to Lytham with my Border Collie to "demonstrate" to Graeme Hall how I would train my dog not to respond to a phone ringtone.

Graeme would then take my training method and use it to teach the Border Collie of the family seeking help – all while filming it for his TV show!

WTF 😳😳😳

I decided to dig a bit deeper and reached out to the force-free dog training community to see if anyone else had experienced something this bizarre.

It turns out that many trainers had also been asked to attend filming sessions to show Graeme how to train dogs before the cameras rolled. Most reported that they refused because of his methods, but a few had shown him and his team how to train a dog, only to be dismissed without any credit for their expertise.

I then did some open-source research on "The Country’s Best Dog Trainer," as the *Daily Telegraph* calls him. He has no formal training in canine behaviour or training. He’s essentially winging it with the help of whatever trainers are willing to show up and assist him.

According to his website, he charges £875 per session 🤔😧

Now I’m not someone who normally criticises other trainers. I prefer to let my clients decide if I’m the right trainer for them based on how I work with their dogs.

However, I couldn’t let this pass without making it public knowledge.

If you're looking for a dog trainer, please avoid this programme and this man. You have no idea whose techniques he’ll be using week to week, and given that most qualified and accredited trainers want nothing to do with him, the quality of training you’ll receive is questionable at best.

Instead, do your own research and find a local trainer who aligns with your own dog training ethics. Organisations such as The IMDT or APDT - Association of Pet Dog Trainers can help guide you to qualified & accredited trainers in your area.

𝑷𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒑𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒐𝒈𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒔!

Uncomfortable Truth = Maremma dogs have an ancient history of being specifically bred to live with livestock as guardians. They are NOT equipped to live in suburban environments.
:
Fact: In my nearly 16 years of vet nursing these are the scariest fear aggression dogs I’ve ever experienced (not the dogs fault, genetically not equipped to be in this situation and often results in fear aggression). Fear aggression is the WORST type of aggression to try to deal with due to its unpredictability. This is because the dog is so FEARFUL of the situation it’s in that its brain (frontal cortex) that controls logic and problem solving has literally STOPPED FUNCTIONING.
:
PLEASE do your research before deciding to adopt / purchase ANY breed of dog. offers origin breed histories which detail each dog’s specific dna imprinting “work” origin, qualities, characteristics and potential health concerns.
